It's been a long time coming, but the team behind the Delta Six is finally ready to begin mass producing its highly anticipated gaming peripheral. What you see above is the final version of the gun controller, the one that will be shipping to Kickstarter backers, and those who pre-order from the maker's site, later this holiday season. A Delta Six representative tells us how in the months leading to this moment, the virtual combat-friendly controller took an incredible amount of prototyping, customizing and calibrating, but that the company's thrilled to soon be able to deliver on its crowdfunded promise. You can check out the Delta Six promo video after the break -- and, if you've yet to get one for yourself, pre-orders are still being taken at the source link below.

Last time we saw a MAG gun controller, it was being splayed all over the FCC. But, that was some time ago; gamers with a gun habit will be twitching those trigger fingers for something new. One option? How about the MAG II? Initially seeing the light of day back at E3, the PS3- and PC-compatible controller has three sensitivity settings, along with motion sensing and gyroscopic induction-based motion tracking. Makers, All Interactive Entertainment, also say that future updates will enable new functions and game play modes. Pre-orders are open now, at a cost of around $150, with the full release set for November 20th. Aim and fire at the PR below if you want more info.

Armchair soldiers who prefer to play FPS games while standing in the middle of their living room and/or in front of their computer have a new option when it comes to chasing their goofy bliss: The MAG II from All Interactive Entertainment, which launches on November 13 at $150.Compatible with both the PlayStation 3 and PC (don't let the 360-lookin' buttons fool you), the controller senses movement through "Motion Sensing and Gyroscopic Induction movement tracking," according to the press release, which we'd assume translates to "accelerometers and gyroscopes." From the looks of things, moving the gun through space is interpreted as moving the right analog stick, allowing the player to aim at things by, well, aiming at things. The device's onboard software can be updated via downloadable firmware updates and an onboard USB port, through which All Interactive Entertainment plans to "unlock new functions and gameplay modes." Pre-orders are currently underway at Amazon and Gamestop.

  • Delta Six controller brings fragging to life, worries your friends

Chances are you know someone who takes their CoD a little too seriously -- well, this peripheral is for them. The Delta Six controller is the latest brainchild of Avenger inventor David Kotkin, made to please hardcore FPS gamers with immersive and responsive input. A built-in accelerometer is used for aiming, while the faux recoil and acting out a reload will put you closer to real combat than an appearance on Stars Earn Stripes. The hardware also features a scattering of pressure sensors -- allowing you, for example, to bring up the sights by meeting cheek with gun body, or if you're feeling lazy, squeezing the side of it instead. Depending on your class bias, you can add and retract plastic from the main frame for an SMG, assault or sniper rifle form factor (see below for the gist). There's no word on availability, or if it will actually improve your game, but the price is slated as $89 at launch. After the break is a short product demo in video form, although we suggest you skip straight to 1:30 to avoid the awkward live-action CTF scene.

  • G-Mate Mag Gun controller for Xbox and PS3 gets FCC approval; we'd like to see them try and stop it

digg_url = 'http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/27/g-mate-mag-gun-controller-for-xbox-and-ps3-gets-fcc-approval-we/'; Hopefully you had your Campbell's Chunky Fully Loaded Beef Stew this morning, because it takes a Man to look down the barrel of the G-Mate Mag Gun and live. The weapon just passed through the FCC unscathed, and now it's gunning for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The basic operation is simple enough, with triggers, face buttons, a d-pad and everything else you'd need to ape a modern console controller. There's only one analog nub, but that's of course because the gun's own motion is meant to emulate the second. G-Mate isn't so clear on how that part of the gun works, but from what we can glean, it's basically an accelerometer and / or gyroscope, which you calibrate to the center of your particular screen with a dedicated button. A sensitivity knob completes the Mag Gun-specific functionality -- which probably won't revolutionize the FPS genre, but certainly might give those suspicious of the Move or too masculine for the XCM Fire something to watch out for. Check out some videos of it in action after the break.

  • XCM Fire takes the "light" out of light gun, still looks sufficiently violent

XCM's Fire gun controller for the PS3 might look like something you use for aiming at precise segments on your screen that happen to contain the heads, torsos or legs of your enemies; you know, like a light gun. Instead the controller is a motion-sensing affair, with dual analog controls along for the ride -- more of an augmentation of traditional console controls than a replacement. We've seen this fail miserably before (see: SIXAXSIS), but we're willing to give XCM the benefit of the doubt. The Fire controller is supposedly "70 percent done," and there are a couple demo videos after the break. We still want a GameGun.
