WoW Moviewatch: Hearts Nether Lie, episode 3
Nananea has already reached the third episode of the machinima-based soap opera Hearts Nether Lie. In this episode, Nananea's eponymous character has fetched the vital keystone, only to discover that Vargoth must dash away. She is left alone with only a watery companion who reluctantly obeys the command to journey into the nethers with Nananea. I still get a lot of guity pleasure from Hearts Nether Lie. We needed a good, old-fashioned soap opera, and Nananea is delivering that. She's even taking it up a notch with some tongue-in-cheek humor. I can almost see Jaina's sordid history fitting right in with this cast of characters, which validates the success of this fan fiction. At any rate, I can't wait to see the next episode. WoW Moviewatch: Hearts Nether Lie: Episode 1
Michael Gray wasn't available today due to something involving a pathological fear of soap operas, so I'm filling in and bringing you the first episode of Hearts Nether Lie, a WoW-based soap opera. If you remember, the preview for the series came out in late September, promising romance, betrayal and good-natured satire of both World of Warcraft and the soap opera genre. This comes from Nananea, who brought you WoW Addons: The Song, and does a good job of spoofing the Netherstorm quest line involving Archmage Vargoth. This was a great first episode, as it showed good production quality, fun gags and a certain campiness that the high elves call ... I don't know what. WoW Moviewatch: Hearts Nether Lie
Hearts Nether Lie is an interesting project by Nananea. Overall, the series is conceptualized as a machinima soap opera. I think this might be the first episodic WoW soap opera, so Nananea definitely wins points for originality. Recognize the voice in the trailer? That's Rawrbug doing the voiceover. I think this project could be fun. Episodic stories can be very rewarding for both an audience and a writer, and I think Nananea will be able to grow the format over time.
