I was wondering when the ineffable Wowcrendor would turn his wry eye for the WoW guy toward one of the most basic social structures of the game: player guilds. And now, he's delivered on that hope with How to win at guilds. This machinima is classic Wowcrendor style, which is another way of saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I think it's interesting how many archetypes Wowcrendor has developed over the span of his career. Certain characters and tropes have become nearly instantly recognizable to the audience. A good example of this is "Gogogo" guy. We know the character, understand the joke, and respond to the whole meaning instead of simply this isolated appearance. It's a testament to how successful Wowcrendor has been, and I look forward to seeing how he grows that dialogue with his viewers in the future. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: How to win at PUGs and GearScore

It's been a little while since we've heard from the enigmatic Wowcrendor, but it looks like the maestro of narrative parody is back with How to win at PUGs and GearScore. This video is a return to his classic form, even featuring that everyman named Billy. Wowcrendor takes Billy on a tour of your average PUG member, right down to that guy who keeps screaming "Go go go go go." How to win at PUGs and GearScore doesn't actually spend very long talking about GearScore, but it does throw in a mention of the Celestial Steed. I'm defintiely glad this video came out before Cataclysm. It'll be nice to bookmark this summary of PUG life to compare it in the next expansion. While I'm not naive enough to think things will change radically, I am still hopefully that new designs and instances will make your average PUG at least slightly friendlier. • WoW Moviewatch: How to Win at Professions

Wowcrendor's back with another installment of his satirical How-to series. This episode is focused on the wide world of crafters and gatherers, with How To Win At WoW Professions. Don't worry -- it's really hard to actually win at professions, so you can think of this videos as something more like "how to get the most out of it." My favorite bits of this video actually highlights one of my personal issues with crafting. At the opening of an expansion, crafted items are really quite important. They help you bootstrap yourself into the new raiding content and give you a little bit of a leg up. Late in the expansions, however, crafted gear is rendered almost irrelevant to progression. (Or, at least, only mildly relevant, and even then they rely on getting raiding reputations to even make the better gear.) While I understand there are balance concerns around making profession gear as good as raiding gear, I'd still like to see more crafting items released as professions move on. Wrath was okay for that; here's hoping Cataclysm is even better. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • Tips for Strand of the Ancients and how to win it

Eye for an Eye has a great set of tips up for the Strand of the Ancients battleground. Their tips are aimed towards Ret Pallies, but they're useful for almost anyone, and especially any melee-based classes. And the general idea -- focus on the relic and getting to it, not the players attacking you or other teammates -- is great for anyone to know.I don't know what it is about Strand and Wintergrasp that has pulled new players into PvP, but there's something new there -- DanO also has found himself PvPing in those places when he never guessed he would. It seems like the objective is a big part of it; the goals in Strand and Wintergrasp just seem more epic than the skirmishes in Warsong and Arathi Basin (and they come with none of the major issues in Alterac Valley).Still, while most of the tips are common sense, some of them are worth listening to if you haven't though of them yet (I liked the tip about sniffing out Rogues around the tanks -- whenever I've played Strand, I've always headed for the walls, but protecting the tanks is a great tactic, too). If you haven't tried either of the new PvP areas yet, give them a look, and bring these tips along with you.
