It's patch day in the world of Eorzea, and today's 1.19 update looks to bring quite a bit of new content to Final Fantasy XIV. Said content includes a new confrontation with Ifrit, a fiery primal who waits for brave adventurers at the end of one of the game's newest quests. Final Fantasy XIV's lodestone has all the details, and apparently the Ifrit encounter comes in two distinct flavors. One is designed for level 30 light parties (four members), while the other is a hard-mode run intended for eight-man level 50 groups. Ifrit wears his badassery on his sleeve if the accompanying video clip is any indication, and the lodestone entry describes him as "a demon spawned by the seven hells" whose exhalations "produce heat of such torridity as to reduce iron to pools of white-hot liquid." See for yourself after the break.

While Final Fantasy XIV players were eagerly looking toward the end of the week for the game's newest patch, it's going to take just a few days longer for everything to be finished. In his latest letter to the community, Naoki Yoshida apologized for the delay but confirmed that in order to complete the testing process, the development team is holding the patch until October 4th. The guildleve history evaluation and the Ixali stronghold will also be held until 1.19a for further testing and refinement. On the plus side, the full patch notes for patch 1.19 will be available for viewing on September 30th. Yoshida also included a video preview of the upcoming Ifrit battle that will go live in 1.19, showing what players can expect from the first skirmish against this mighty primal. Jump on past the break to take a look at the fight as well as some hints of the game personalities involved once the patch goes live next Tuesday.

Not too many made it into Square Enix's DKΣ3713 Private Party, because it is, you know, private. Luckily for us, not only was Gpara on the swanky guest list, they even managed to snap photos of the event for all to see. Unfortunately, Square Enix has a nasty habit of showing new trailers inside closed theaters that do not allow cameras, so we won't see any stills from those exclusive videos. What we'll see instead are some concept illustrations of the locale and summon creatures of the Final Fantasy XIII universe. All of the locale shown seems to be aerial; does that mean the game will feature a Zeal-like kingdom? We also get a first glimpse at new interpretations of old summons like Shiva, Ifrit and Carbuncle. Take a look here.Lastly, they have pictures of the Square Enix Goods Shop. We avoided looking at most of the pictures, because frankly, if we can't get our grubby little hands on those goods, we'd rather not look at all.
