iHome's iHMP5 headphones double as lackluster portable speaker system
It's a dilemma that even your mother has likely faced. You'd like a new set of headphones, but you'd also like to fill your dorm room with sound should a few friends stop by. In a beautiful effort to solve said quandary, iHome has introduced a 2-in-1 stereo speaker / headphone system dubbed the iHMP5. For those unaware, these are the first over-the-ear cans produced by the company, and unlike most other alternatives, these boast an inline pre-amp that flip 'em "from private to party" mode on a moment's notice. In other words, these headphones double as a portable speaker system, and they're available in a trio of colors right now for $59.99. Don't you love it when a plan comes together?
Bongiovi-equipped iHome iP1 iPod / iPhone dock finally ships
Remember that totally snazzy iHome iP1 dock that we toyed with back in May? You know, the one with those boyish good looks and a curious Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station chip built in? Yeah, that very iPod / iPhone dock is finally shipping to those willing to splurge, with a buck under $300 bringing you 100 watts of hair-raising rock through a pair of 4-inch woofers and 1-inch silk dome tweeters. Sure, it's pretty swank for an iPod dock, but can you imagine the fanfare if this thing was Bon Jovi-approved? Bonus footage is after the break.[Via HotHardware]
iHome shows its input peripheral side with LifeWorks tie-up
Clearly not content with just pumping out one iPod alarm clock after another, iHome has decided to broaden its horizons a bit by creating a new LifeWorks line of input peripherals and computer accessories. Slated to launch in earnest sometime this summer, the new line contains just a few standout inclusions. The iPhone-friendly iConnect Keyboard (pictured above) and HTPC-centric Media Keyboard both look like formidable options for those needing a new set of keys, and there are also a gaggle of mice, webcams and headsets to choose from if those items are more your style. Unfortunately, true innovation is still few and far betwixt, but at least your USB ports will appreciate the effort.[Via CNET]
iHome iP1 isn't bad for an iPod dock, packs a Bongiovi punch
We're not what you'd call audiophiles -- we've stood dangerously close to a 128kb MP3 or two in our lives, and even tried internet radio once -- but we still seem to prefer things that "sound good." That cuts out most iPod docks on the market, which due to price, size and know-how constraints tend to do few favors for the low-bitrate music they usually serve up. Enter the new iP1 dock from iHome, which kicks off a new "Studio Series" for the manufacturer, and features "Bongiovi Digital Power Station processing" to bump up the quality. Tony Bongiovi, audio engineer and cousin to Jon Bon Jovi, developed the DPS technology to improve sound in "compromised" environments like cars (it's currently used by JVC in car stereos), planes and low-quality speakers, and is specifically tuned for its output device. The upshot is that the iP1 brings volume and clarity to the low and high end of the audio, especially in older recordings that haven't already been compressed to high heaven, where details and oomph would be absent given the limited hardware. Sure, the result isn't an "accurate" picture of what was recorded -- you still need studio monitors to do that -- but it makes most things sound "good" without adding the ruination of many digital audio enhancement techniques, and we even picked up a couple details in a favorite song of ours that's received heavy rotation on our home system. It also had the unfortunate effect of turning a Bob Marley song into a bit of a banger (a "Could You Be Loved In The Club," if you will) but can thankfully can be deactivated at the press of a button.The dock itself packs a 100 watt amp, two 4-inch woofers and two 1-inch tweeters. The included remote can handle custom EQ in addition to switching Bongiovi on and off, and there's also component video out and full iPhone support. It should be hitting stores in the middle of July for about $299.
iHome showcases iP29 / iP49 / iHMP5 iPod speaker systems
iLuv already dropped a bundle of iPod alarm clock / speaker systems here at CES, so it follows logic for yet another "i" company to dole out a helping of its own. Kicking things off is the iP29 portable speaker case, and stepping up the excitement level from zilch to one is the iP49 rechargeable audio system with alarm clock / FM radio for iPod and iPhone. Lastly, the iHMP5 two-in-one stereo speaker / headphone system enables users to listen in private or enter into "full speaker mode" for the posse to tune in. As with most everything else announced here at CES, pricing and availability have yet to be revealed.
iHome debuts iP1 iPod / iPhone speaker system
iHome certainly isn't starved for iPod docks or speaker systems these days, but it looks like the company just couldn't pass up the opportunity of expanding its line-up at CES, and this new so-called iP1 system looks to be leading the way. At first glance, this one sure seems to hit most of the right marks, with it packing 100W of power, two four-inch woofers, two one-inch tweeters, and Bongiovi Acoustic's proprietary Digital Power Station processor, which iHome says helps make this the most advanced speaker system they've ever developed. You'll also get a standard AUX input to accommodate your other devices, plus an A/V output and, of course, a remote control. Unfortunately, there's no word of a price or release date just yet, but we're guessing iHome won't be holding onto those details for too much longer.[Via iLounge]
iHome's iH15W iPod stereo changes colors, could become annoying
Generally speaking, iHome produces fairly respectable kit. Sure, it's almost all involved directly with Apple's iPod or some random alarm clock (or a mixture of the two), but there's nothing intrinsically wrong with offering up a narrow range of products. To that end, we present the iH15W, an iPod-friendly stereo box that actually changes colors on a whim. The LED-infused cube houses two Reson8 speakers, an iPod dock, a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary port and two convenient carry handles. iHome ships rotatable iH41 iPod alarm clock
We've heard about iHome's twistable iH41 since CES, but it looks like the outfit finally got its act together and began to ship these out. Designed specifically for the iPod touch and its variable aspect screen, this unit can be flipped for easy orientation switching that enables users to view widescreen videos while it's docked and charging; when rotated, the digital clock display will also adjust to "complement the position of the unit." Notably, there's no mention of iPhone / iPhone 3G compatibility, but you do get a handy remote thrown in should you decide to cough up $79.99.[Via SlashGear]
iHome's ZN9 alarm clock docks your Zune in something resembling style
Hey, props for offering up the "first clock radio for Zune" (it's certainly not the first Zune dock), we're all quite proud, but it looks like iHome sent in the B team for the design here. The ZN9 Dual Alarm Stereo Clock Radio for Zune actually bears a slight resemblance to an Xbox 360, other than the full-featured Zune interoperability, of course. Outside of that there's nothing of note here that your grandma hasn't been rocking bedside since the 80's. The ZN9 should be available now-ish for $100.
iHome launches the iH69 and iH70 computer speaker iPod docks
Just when you thought iPod docks couldn't get any cooler -- bam! -- along comes iHome with the "world's first" computer speakers for an iPod. Yes, we also started to pound out an uncontrollable rhythm on the snooze button the first time we heard about these, but don't forget that the iH69 and iH70 allow you to dock, charge and jam out to your iPod without adding any extra fuss to your decked out computer audio superstation. The dock / speakers are available for pre-order at $99.99 and $129.99, respectively, and will be on store shelves "soon" -- which we assume will be sometime this month.
iHome iP99 claims to be first iPhone-friendly clock radio, isn't
Oh sure, the iHome iP99 is certainly a welcome addition to the fray, but the first iPhone-compatible clock radio it isn't. Nevertheless, this device claims to be able to play back tunes on your handset without that sanity-killing interference that's so common on most iPod stereo systems. While blasting out tunes, users can still expect to receive calls while it's charging, and if you're currently rolling sans an iPhone, it'll also play nice with all docking iPod models. Per usual, there's an AM / FM tuner, auxiliary input, a variety of wake modes, dual alarm settings, backlit buttons and a remote control for switching tracks / controlling volume from afar. Of course, by the time this thing lands in June for $149.99, we could be testing to see if it works with an all new iPhone.Update: We've been informed that what was really supposed to be said here was that it's "is the first clock radio available for purchase that is designed specifically for the iPhone," and it's been awarded the coveted "Works with iPhone" sticker from Apple itself. Needless to say, this bad boy has all the shielding you'll need.
iHome's iH69 computer / iPod speakers
We've seen a number of iPod speakers with pass-through dock connectors, but we've never really understood the point -- why would we listen to music on our iPod when we're already sitting at the computer, which has better speakers? iHome's latest rig, the iH69, tries to bring it all together, though, with an iPod dock integrated directly into a set of upright computer speakers. We're not sold on the idea until we actually hear 'em -- or we get a sub in the deal -- but those of you looking to save on some cable clutter should look for these bad boys to drop sometime in June.Update: iHome pinged to let us know that this thing is still in concept / prototype phase, and isn't a final design or even assured to be produced (so you can bet that the iH69 name isn't solid either).
Microsoft talks third-party Zune accessories
You can't run around launching fancy new music players these days without a secondary offensive of cases and car chargers following close behind, and Microsoft's new Zunes have a veritable cavalry behind them. In addition to the official accessories we've already heard about from J Allard and crew, the company's lined up a number of third-party manufacturers to crank out 60 different Zune-friendly products, including Polk, Belkin, DLO, Monster, Altec Lansing, Targus, iHome, Memorex and Griffin. Microsoft's new pals will be releasing everything from speaker docks to RCA cables, so it looks like you'll be able to build a happy little home for that new Zune of yours when it launches next month.
iHome intros the iHC5 mobile phone dock
Looking for a totally elaborate, complicated, and kind-of-ugly dock for your iPhone or media-playin' mobile device? You're in luck, because iHome is about to deliver the goods... big time. Enter the iHC5, a remote-controlled, Bluetooth-equipped, 4-speaker-sporting pile of accessory goodness. The system -- which is made to handle all kinds of phones -- features AVRCP and A2DP profiles, has dual alarms for getting you out of bed, and has a line-in for hooking up your CD or MP3 player. Sure, it's not the coolest looking thing in the world, but if you really need a self-contained docking solution for your mobile phone, you could do worse, couldn't you? No word on a release date, though it'll cost you $149.99 when it hits shelves.[Via iLounge]
iHome unveils bevy of colorful iPod alarm clocks / speaker systems
No sooner than iLuv hit us with two new iHome competitors, iHome has struck back with the unveiling of no fewer than seven new iPod alarm clocks and speaker systems. Going for that classic look, the iH14 is a tabletop iPod speaker system with a wood or black leather finish, AM / FM radio, and rotary knobs. The iH10 rocks the same overall design, but sports the more typical, trendy white or black finish. The ultra-compact iH4 provides an iHome for folks on the go, offering an alarm clock / docking iPod solution in a tiny enclosure that also features an aux input, adjustable LCD accent lights, and a white or black paintjob. Next up is the colorized versions of the now-famous iH5, and while the iH5 colortunes will come in white with blue, green, or pink grills, the iH3 adds silver to the mix and will be sold exclusively in Target. The iHM1 also gets a colortunes makeover to match those 2G nanos, and comes in blue, green, and pink as well. Lastly, the iH19 sport case rocks a water-resistant design, stereo speakers, and external control pad, and should be available in your choice of blue, green, pink, or silver. No pricing or release information was readily available, but we're pretty sure these colorized units will make it out just in time for Spring.
iHome iH21 wireless speaker system
iHome's already been busy this morning and now we can add the iH21 to their product catalog. The kit is said to transmit iPod music anywhere in the house to that "water-resistant" speaker. Get it? You can leave the iPod docked-up, far(ish) away from your filthy azz while streaming music to the speaker in the hot mustiness of nausea you call bathroom. Now, we're not sure what technology they're packing (WiFi, Bluetooth, PowerLine, etc) but we've got a sneakin' suspicion these are Bluetooth-equipped. Hell with EDR, A2DP and AVRCP profiles, that 32 foot transmission range (unobstructed) should be just about right with the remote. But we'll wait for these to be unveiled at CES before getting too riled up.
iHome Mobile Bluetooth Alarm Clock
We've seen a few Bluetooth speakers 'round here as well as modern takes on the clock radio. Now in a fit of bedroom convergence, meet the Bluetooth clock radio and er, speakerphone. Pair the iHome Mobile with your Bluetooth musicphone or computer and drift off to sleep in a cradle of weak radiation. Hell, it'll even double-up as a speakerphone for all your dirty little, "hands-free" calling needs while alone in bed. And while it might look like it features a charging cradle for your Chocolate, or other capable cellphone, we highly doubt it -- more than likely we're just looking at a cup to hold the phone or other Bluetooth device. No worries, you'll wake refreshed with a dead cellphone battery ready to take on the day without interruption.
iHome's iHM1B iPod nano portable speaker system
Still jamming out with your original iPod nano? If you haven't already picked up PodGear's PocketParty, and still need a portable speaker solution for times when tossing that boombox over your left shoulder isn't exact suitable, iHome's iMH1B has you covered. The portable speaker completely encloses your first-generation iPod nano, and adds a set of stereo speakers as well as a questionably elegant stand-up case to your DAP. Touting "SRS TruBass" technology, "easy access" to controls, and a water-resistant carry case, the only thing that's missing is support for Apple's latest selection of nanos. SDI's iHome2go iH19 and iH26 iPod docks
SDI Technologies have just taken the iHome on the road with their iHome2go series of iPod alarm docks. Oh sure, you could argue about the name -- why not iGo or iRideCoattails, for example -- but there's no denying the magic of that iHome preamble. Available in two flavas, the 2go iH26 is pretty much the iH5 in a new folding design while the 2go iH19 model brings true portability with integrated speakers in a waterproof/shockproof carrying case measuring just 830-grams / 210×90×90-mm or 1.83-pounds / 8.3×3.5×3.5-inches including the 4x AAA batteries it can use for power when away from the mains. Expect the iH19 to pull ¥10,800 (about $91) while the iH26 will set you back approximately ¥14,800 (about $125) when these hit Japan in early November.
