    You're about to spend US$19.99 on Mountain Lion and want to know how long it will take to update your Mac. Fortunately, the folks at Tekserve have updated several machines and shared the results. The New York-based company keeps several demo machines running on its sales floor for customers to try, including laptops and desktops. The team recently updated every last one to Mountain Lion (we assume they were on the latest version of Lion previously). Note what a difference SSD made in the chart below: Apple servers are very busy today, as the company is distributing new Mac versions of iPhoto, iMovie, Safari and iWork in addition to the OS. Our readers have reported a range of download times from one to three hours. The Mountain Lion installer is 4.05 GB in size. All this means you should set some time aside and get comfortable. Tell us how it goes. #next_pages_container { width: 5px; hight: 5px; position: absolute; top: -100px; left: -100px; z-index: 2147483647 !important; }

    We've always considered computers to be entertainment machines first, means to an end second, and tools for learning a distant third, so it's no surprise to see thrill-seekers everywhere squeezing every last drop of excitement from the recently-shipped OLPC XOs. While we've already witnessed someone getting their fix of 1992 by hitting up a few rounds of Doom, the latest case of "installing noneducational software on laptops geared for learning" involves none other than Super Mario himself, as a clever individual has not only got Super Mario Bros. 3 up and running on the XO, but captured a video of the feat as well. So go on and click through to sneak a peek yourself, you know you can't resist.

  • Home Theater Blog: How to wall mount a LCD or plasma

    There is nothing more pretty in the world then a nicely hung flat-panel TV. Nothing. But sometimes the task of hanging one can seem daunting. Home Theater Blog has a nice step-by-step guide however of installing one. They will take you through the preparations all the way to the finished product. Hanging a flat-panel really is not that hard just take your time and have someone there to make sure things are straight and level - four eyes are better then two. The one thing we should note, and they did too, that generally it is not a good idea to run the power cord of the TV down the interior of the wall. Have an electrician put an outlet where you need it. While running a power code inside your wall seems fine and dandy, it is against most codes and therefore if you happen to have any type of electrical fire, your insurance company could throw out the entire claim. Be safe. Has anyone else hung their own flat-panel? How did it go? Oh and you might want to put a pic in our HD Beat Flickr Pool.
