SteelSeries' Aerox 3 mice are water-resistant despite being full of holes
Aerox 3 and Aerox 3 Wireless are the first gaming mice to receive an IP54 rating, according to the company. The wired version weighs 57 grams and has the same TrueMove Core sensor SteelSeries used in the Rival 3. The company developed the custom 8,500 CPI, 300 IPS, 35G optical sensor with PixArt.

Samsung announces rugged Xcover handset with 67-day standby time
Prefer your cellphone to be more tough than smart? Then you might want to give Samsung's new Xcover E2370 handset a bit of consideration. While it may not be ideally suited for much more than calls or the odd text message, it is fully ruggedized and IP54-certified for dust and splash resistance, and it boasts an impressive 67-day standby time (and 22-hour talk time) to ensure it lasts throughout your next arduous expedition (or regular business trips, as the case may be). Still no indication of a release over here, but the phone should be rolling out across Europe next month for just under $100.
Nokia makes 3720 official, its "most rugged mobile handset to date"
Nokia's not exactly known for its beefy, ultra-survivable gear, but unless the human race plans on getting a whole lot less clumsy, rugged phones will always be a good idea -- and Espoo's 3720 certainly seems to fill the bill. The Series 40-based candybar features a 2 megapixel cam with LED flash, triband EDGE (sorry, North Americans), FM radio, microSD expansion, and the latest and greatest Bluetooth 2.1, but the real news here is that the phone is built to meet IP54 standards. A quick check with our handy-dandy IP code reference tells us that means that "ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact" -- in other words, your phone might get nasty dirty, but it'll keep chugging -- and it can withstand "splashing" water. Scuba divers, the search for your perfect phone probably continues. Refreshingly, the 3720 will run just €125 (about $175) unlocked when it ships later this summer.
Sony's GXD-L64H1 LCD survives elemental woes, ignores economic ones
We see plenty of rugged and semi-rugged entries in the portable market, but it's not often that you see a large-screen HDTV you'd want to touch with anything other than white gloves and (clean) cotton diapers. Sony's GXD-L64H1 is one of those rare durable displays, a 65-inch LCD that scores an IP54 on the International Protection Rating scale. That means it's almost entirely dust-proof and can survive a light shower, as demonstrated in a video after the break -- at least we presume that's what they're demonstrating, as the footage never shows the thing actually turning on again. The set is due to hit the market with a splash (sorry) in May at a price of ¥1,850,000, about $19,300, making us wonder if it can float in these economic times. [Via Akihabara News]
