Next week's Rock Band DLC is all over the place, featuring a diverse variety of artists covering a wide spectrum of musical tastes. It's like Harmonix's DLC offering hit the shuffle button. If you're super bad, head on past the break for details.

A video coming out of Germany's Gamescom convention yesterday may have accidentally revealed a whole mess of unannounced tracks for upcoming rhythm/music title Rock Band 3. During an interview shot by YouTube user GottGamesShow (since taken down), an RB3 rep could be seen scrolling through the entire setlist for the game, apparently revealing tracks from John Lennon's "Imagine" to Devo's "Whip It." RockBandAide grabbed the whole list before the video went down, which we've dropped for you after the break. And though we've reached out to Harmonix and MTV Games for confirmation, we'd like to point out that, for now, the songs could potentially be future Rock Band Network tracks or simply placeholder. That said, we're hoping they're not -- we're pretty psyched about the two songs we already mentioned, and frankly, it's all about James Brown. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Get up, get on up, as next week's Rock Band DLC brings some funkified freak and alternative rock. The funk pack includes the legendary performer James Brown and is labeled "01," which we'll take as some small sign that more funk is on the way. There's also several individual tracks from modern bands.Get the Funk Out 01 3-pack (440 / $5.50) "Pick Up the Pieces" - Average White Band (160 / $2) "Shining Star" - Earth Wind & Fire (160 / $2) "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine - Pt 1" - James Brown (160 / $2) Individual songs: "Thrash Unreal" - Against Me! The upcoming PS2/PSP breakdancing game, B-Boy will feature a pretty great licensed soundtrack when it comes to America later this summer. Touted as the first-ever competitive breakdancing game, B-Boy promises to offer over 800 motion-captured moves. B-boy legends Crazy Legs and the Rock Steady Crew helped contribute to the production, and 22 venues can be found on the disc, including Red Bull: King of the Ring, Freestyle Sessions, UK B-Boy Championships and IBE.The soundtrack will feature 35 hip-hop and funk tracks, including The Black Eyed Peas' "Bringing It Back", James Brown's "Get On The Good Foot", Cypress Hill's "The Phuncky Feel One" and Eric B and Rakim's "Don't Sweat The Technique." It certainly looks like they're definitely trying to impress the breakdancing audience with this one -- will they succeed?%Gallery-12580%

  • Mii Spotlight: Musician edition

Another week has passed, so it must be time for Wii Fanboy's Mii Spotlight! Last week, after Eric showed off how good it was to be a gangsta, we sent out a request for musician Miis, and we got a few that we're excited about showing off. If you haven't yet seen your Mii here, be patient -- we're saving some of the submissions for later editions. If your Mii is creative, well-made, and interesting, don't despair. You'll probably see it here eventually! It just takes time to get enough that are thematically linked. But we also need to make something very clear: the Miis you send us need to be your own, or you need to credit the original maker if you're sending photos of other people's work. We've had some complaints that not all of the Miis we've featured were actually made by the person claiming credit. It's one thing to see a Mii somewhere and make your own based on that, and another thing altogether to take someone's photos and send them in as your own. We can't check everything, and there's no real way to verify, so we ask you simply to be honest, and please remember to be respectful of people who put their spare time into creating Miis for your enjoyment. But enough with the lectures -- let's see some Miis!

  • RIP James Joseph Brown, Jr.

As has been widely reported, the Godfather of Soul departed an Atlanta hospital for his final concert tour in the wee morning hours of Christmas Day. James J. Brown, Jr. was 73 years old and suffering from pneumonia when he died. While JB's Apple connection may not be obvious, those of us who were fortunate enough to attend the Mac OS 8 launch party at Macworld Boston in 1997 will not soon forget the appearance of the "surprise musical act" onstage. Brown tore the roof off the joint with his classic numbers and even threw in an enthusiastic "Mac-World! Ap-ple!" chant. Even for a corporate gig and a roomful of skinny geeks, he was not about to phone it in. It was an incredible show.Farewell, Soul Brother #1.
