There's been a lot of chat and interest regarding the approach of Update 8 in Dungeons and Dragons Online. What is the new adventure pack going to be like? How will all the tweaks affect gameplay? Will the Half-Elf updates improve the new race? Here at Massively, we're looking forward to it as well -- in fact, we've got an exclusive tour of the new adventure pack coming up later today. It's exciting, but there's another event to look forward to as well. It's that time of year again: Festivult is approaching in DDO. While the big event hasn't arrived yet, Turbine has been keeping plenty busy with preparations. While you wait for the Jester of the Festivult to arrive later this month, check out some of the other December events in DDO. There are sales and a great contest, and the community members are working together to plan ahead for the events. Follow along after the break to see what is happening in December in DDO!

It's that time of year in Eberron once more, the time for Dungeons and Dragons Online players to celebrate the Festival of the Twelfth Moon. You can start to get into the holiday mood with a Festivult poem, but you'll also find that there's a long list of goodies to be had in-game. Getting your hands on some unique Festivult items isn't too hard -- every treasure chest has a chance to drop Festival Coins, as well as whatever else is inside, during the holiday season. Once you get some coins (there are three different types) you can hand them in for rewards. These rewards range from a lump of coal, all the way up to something so good that it's being kept a secret. To trade in your coins, you'll want to see the Jester of Festivult. He can be found in a number of locations, but you can't just walk up to him this year -- players will need to conquer the Jester's Jumping Puzzles in order to cash in coins and receive their presents, although certain areas have easier ways to reach the Jester for those that find the puzzles too difficult. After the break, we've got the full list of rewards and Jester locations. Happy Festivult!

  • Festival (and the Jester of Festivult) returns to DDO: Stormreach

Reader Schad, who seems to have become our de facto DDO representative (remember that you're free to send us news about your favorite game on our tipline anytime), reminds us that they're celebrating the holidays in Eberron, too. Turbine has posted on their forums about the comings and goings of Festivult, a time when the Jester of Festivult (not to be confused with) runs around Stormreach and trades Festival coins for presents from the dragonmarked houses of Cannith and Ghallanda. Man I love this D&D 3rd edition lore!In game terms, there'll be a dwarf NPC wandering around Stormreach that will trade buff food for special coins that have a chance of dropping from treasure chests all over the world. But if that's too technical for you, you can bask in the light of not one but two Festivult poems over on the Turbine forums. Merry Festivult to us all, Warforged and Human alike!
