You won't know exactly what Fantasia: Music Evolved's set list will sound like once you put your own twist on it, but at least now you know what you'll be working with: Harmonix shared the remainder of Fantasia's tracks at PAX Prime today, with the final portion including Jimi Hendrix's "Fire," Lady Gaga's "Applause," The Flaming Lips' "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Pt. 1" and contributions from Imagine Dragons, J.S. Bach, New Order, Liszt, Inon Zur and Missy Elliot. Yup, the sampling is still all over the place. You can remind yourself of Fantasia's previously-announced songs with a full bulletpoint set list after the break, but if you want more than the base offering, placing a pre-order will earn you three more songs: OneRepublic's "Counting Stars," Demi Lovato's take on Frozen's "Let It Go" and Avicii's "Lay Me Down." Rock Band will add seven Jimi Hendrix tracks to the Music Store next week, with two legacy songs receiving pro guitar and pro bass upgrades. The DLC includes several of Hendrix's most famous tracks, but everyone should be sure to take a trip "All Along the Watchtower." [Neale Cousland via Shutterstock]

Jimi Hendrix's exclusive Rock Band tour continues next week with the addition of the "Are You Experienced: Rock Band Edition" album. (For more Jimi, see the "Axis: Bold as Love" album that was released earlier this year.) Also, with over 2,000 songs now in the Rock Band DLC catalog, we thought it would be helpful to share these links, which can be used for searching the regular database or the Rock Band Network for a particular artist or song: Rock Band Music Store Database Rock Band Network Music Store Database Are you experienced enough to check out next week's DLC details after the break?

[Jimi's last Guitar Hero appearance] True, he once exclusively rocked the World Tour, but there just ain't no telling with that Jimi Hendrix. Today, following the reveal of the Jimi Hendrix Experience DLC album Axis: Bold as Love for the Rock Band platform, MTV Games and Harmonix announced, "Jimi Hendrix's music is now exclusive to Rock Band with more songs coming to its industry-leading platform in the future." (An MTV Games spokesperson reiterated to Joystiq that "moving forward" Hendrix music-game releases will be exclusive to Rock Band, but declined to offer specifics on the deal with Experience Hendrix LLC.) Previously, several Hendrix tracks, including a DLC pack, and a digitized version of the, uh, "No. 1 guitarist of all time" were featured in Guitar Hero: World Tour, which, due to licensing restrictions, can't be imported into other Guitar Hero games. Even a Hendrix-themed Guitar Hero game was once allegedly in the works, having apparently slipped into the sea.

  • Jimi Hendrix album to be released as Rock Band DLC next week [update]

Jimi Hendrix music is, in fact, headed for Rock Band, in a capacity bigger than the usual song packs -- yet not quite as huge as the Beatles/Green Day dedicated games. Rolling Stone announced that on the week of March 30, the entire Jimi Hendrix Experience album Axis: Bold as Love (minus "EXP") will be released as DLC for Rock Band. In addition, a previously unreleased single, "Valleys of Neptune," from a new CD of the same name, will be made available as DLC. So, not only will you try to play Jimi Hendrix solos in Rock Band, you'll play one you've never heard before. Good luck with that! "It's a whole new level of difficulty unto itself," MTV Games' Paul DeGooyer said. The thing about these tracks is if you're a Hendrix fan you know that really what powered that vibe is that he kind of just closed his eyes and flowed from his fingers, and we really tried very hard, especially on the expert level, to recreate that effect." This is just the first step in a longterm agreement between Experience Hendrix and MTV, which includes the release of the other Hendrix albums, in addition to the option to make Hendrix avatars and instruments available in the game. Apparently, the companies are also open to the eventual production of a dedicated game. [Update: the full track list for next week is listed after the break.]

  • Report: Jimi Hendrix getting Rock Band treatment [update]

While Activision may be moving away from heaping artist-centric Guitar Hero games on the market, it appears Rock Band is sliding in there to fill the void. According to a story in the L.A. Times, Jimi Hendrix stepsister Janie (who also controls his estate) says that a Rock Band game based on the legendary guitarist is slated to arrive before year's end. We know that the officially announced Green Day: Rock Band won't be the only franchise release this year, so Hendrix: Rock Guy is definitely a possibility. But the mainstream press is bad enough about confusing Rock Band and Guitar Hero that we'll hold off on placing our pre-orders until we've heard something official. Wow, either the L.A. Times is wrong or Slash is wrong. Whoever wins, we lose. [Update: We just heard back from a Harmonix spokesperson, and there isn't a standalone product in the works. The official statement: "While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band, we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned."] [Via Billboard; thanks, TheWeaponeer]

The Guitar Hero World Tour Hendrix pack is now on Xbox Live -- so sayeth Major Nelson. As it turns out, the Hendrix pack has nothing to do with an Ultor security technician from Red Faction nor a town in Bryan County, Oklahoma. Bummer. But hey, if you're into this guitar playing guy from the 60s, you might enjoy this track pack. Hendrix Track Pack (440 / $5.50) "If 6 Was 9" "Little Wing" "Fire" (Live from Woodstock) No word on its availability for PlayStation 3 or Wii. We've embedded videos of the songs after the break.

Activision has created a virtual guitar contest so blistering it would melt not only faces, but the very fabric of space-time. The publisher has announced that dueling track packs from Jack White-fronted The Raconteurs and Jimi Hendrix are coming to Guitar Hero World Tour next month. Here's how they stack up:The Raconteurs pack: "Salute Your Solution" "Hold Up" "Consoler of the Lonely" Jimi Hendrix pack: "If 6 Was 9" "Little Wing" "Fire" (Live version) Both will be available for around $5.50. Raconteurs tracks will be available for $1.99 by their lonesome, but it looks like you can only get Jimi in bulk. Which one will you grab?

  • Activision considering DLC subscription service for Guitar Hero

At Activision Blizzard's Analyst Day, CEO Mike Griffith spoke of plans to offer a subscription service option for the Guitar Hero games. "We're exploring new models, like an annual pass subscription where players can subscribe and get a certain number of songs downloadable each month." No prices or launch dates were discussed, but we are assuming those who regularly purchase DLC for the Guitar Hero games will be able to save a few bucks. In the realm of rumors, former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses Slash said a Rolling Stone interview that Guitar Hero: Hendrix is coming. "Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great." Activision won't comment on the rumor, but with the guitar virtuoso making an appearance in the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, it wouldn't surprise us in the least if this came true.Source -- ShacknewsSource -- Rolling Stone via GameDaily

  • Rumor: Slash accidentally reveals Guitar Hero: Hendrix

Has frizzy-haired Guns N' Roses guitar legend Slash mistakenly leaked news of a Jimi Hendrix-themed Guitar Hero title? In an interview with Rolling Stone, the axe-shredder ended up discussing Activision's mega-franchise, and appeared to let news of a future release slip. "Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by," he enthused. "And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great."While aging rock guitarists aren't our usual source for games industry gossip, this is totally believable; after all, it's likely Activision will produce a Guitar Hero: Hendrix sooner or later, given the company's love of money. But somebody at Activision needs to have a quiet word with Slash, because the man is plainly off the chain. First he changes his name to a violent-sounding verb, and now he's giving away Activision's trade secrets like they're candy. Could he be any more rock 'n' roll?[Via 1UP]

As if you needed another reason to be pumped for Guitar Hero: World Tour, the legendary guitar virtuoso himself is going to be featured in Activision's title. Not only will he be a playable character in the game, but master tracks for two of his songs will be featured. These tracks are: "Purple Haze (Live)" (recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena) "The Wind Cries Mary" If that isn't enough for you, Activision also said that Hendrix content will be releasing for the game in the future, in the form of DLC, joining the ranks of Metallica. In case you need a refresher on the tracks, we've embedded some YouTube videos for each past the break. Go get your listen on!%Gallery-23491%
