    ArenaNet is intent on improving Guild Wars 2's build diversity going forward. We know this because the company just released a dev blog detailing the team's plans for trait revisions and the like. Why don't those silly devs just increase the power of the game's weaker skills? "Well, the problem is that then we get into something called power creep," writes ANet's Johnathan Sharp. "The power of all builds and classes keeps rising as we keep making improvements, which causes instability in game balance."     Guild Wars 2 Guru has partnered with ArenaNet to bring you a lengthy state-of-the-game video. The clip features Guild Wars 2 devs Tyler Bearce, Johnathan Sharp, and Karl McClain and it runs for a good hour-and-a-half. Topics include Spirit Watch, profession balance, tournaments and matchmaking, and future plans for the game. Grab your favorite beverage and watch the whole thing after the cut.

    How is ArenaNet countering the massive Star Wars-related hype bomb that's detonating across the MMO industry this week? Hopefully by ignoring it and continuing to work on Guild Wars 2. That said, the company is trotting out Jon Peters and Johnathan Sharp to field fan questions during a live IRC chat later in the week. The shindig goes down on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. EST, and if you're not familiar with the IRC platform, Guild Wars 2 Guru has a helpful web client that will speed you on your way. You'll need to submit your questions for moderator approval (translation: don't expect an answer to beta or release date queries), so head to GW2 Guru to read all the rules.

    Unless you've been spelunking near the center of the earth for the past few days, you're likely aware that ArenaNet recently unveiled Guild Wars 2's seventh class. Chances are high that you're also aware of said class's affinity for turrets, guns, and various contraptions meant to rain death down upon any unfortunate enemies that cross its path. Today, Massively presents a new interview with Guild Wars 2 lead designer Eric Flannum. Naturally, the guest of honor at this Tyrian banquet of exclusivity is the Engineer, and Flannum (along with several other ANet dignitaries) provides us with a few tasty mechanical appetizers before getting down to the lore-centric main course.
