The $100 arcade machine-shaped iPad enclosure / controller hit the sweet spot between functionality and retro gaming nostalgia, proving successful enough that Ion found itself with a solid reason to expand the line. Notable amongst the new arrivals are the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/24/icade-core-coming-to-a-tiny-arcade-near-you-in-june/">iCade Core</a>, which offers up the same feature set as the original iCade in a more portable joystick form, and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/08/icade-cuts-the-fat-for-ces-introduces-handheld-brother/">iCade Mobile</a>, a re-imagining of the product as an oversized iPhone case. The Core carries the same price tag as its predecessor, while the Mobile clocks in at $20 less. So, are these additions worthy of the iCade name? Or would the line have been better served as a one-off? Insert a coin and find out after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/">Ion iCade Mobile and iCade Core review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/#5037567"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/icade-gallery-mob-2011-09-0819-59-34800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/#5037568"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/icade-gallery-mob-2011-09-0820-00-30800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/#5037569"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/icade-gallery-mob-2011-09-0820-00-35800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/#5037570"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/icade-gallery-mob-2011-09-0820-00-44800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/#5037571"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/icade-gallery-mob-2011-09-0820-00-58800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p> <br /> <strong>Update:</strong> Unfortunately, we were provided with incorrect information ahead of the review -- the iCade Core is actually priced at $80, same as the iCade Mobile.</p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/21/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ion iCade Mobile and iCade Core review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/21/ion-icade-mobile-and-icade-core-review/">Ion iCade Mobile and iCade Core review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 15:00:00 EST. A new peripheral being developed by Keio University takes an interesting approach to the problem -- using the device to transform the gadget's camera into a three-axis joystick of sorts by detecting the movement of markings on the add-on. According to its creators, the accuracy of the joystick depends largely on the precision of the phone's hardware. Check it out in action after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/30/add-on-turns-a-smartphone-camera-into-a-joystick-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Add-on turns a smartphone camera into a joystick (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/30/add-on-turns-a-smartphone-camera-into-a-joystick-video/">Add-on turns a smartphone camera into a joystick (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 30 Mar 2012 16:28:00 EST. Like Madonna, it's reinvented itself for the 21st century as a single-named free-to-play game for those who want to zoom around the skies of Hawaii. The company will make its money by selling premium add-ons including new aircraft and "adventure packs." The game is now ready for download (at the source link) and, if it proves popular, Redmond should expect a nice gift basket from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/amd-releases-radeon-hd-7750-and-7770-gpus/">AMD</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nvidia/">NVIDIA</a> this Christmas.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/microsoft-flight/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Microsoft Flight reinvents itself as free-to-play simulator (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/microsoft-flight/">Microsoft Flight reinvents itself as free-to-play simulator (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 29 Feb 2012 08:45:00 EST. In a perfect world, you could have a cool, original retro gaming peripheral <em>and</em> impress the sort-of-snooty <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/18/steampunk-usb-cufflinks-are-as-awesome-as-they-are-pricey/">steampunk</a> nerds at the same time. That day has arrived to do just that, as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/21/sputnik-0667-pc-mod-perfect-for-your-early-1900s-living-room/">Love Hult&eacute;n</a> has created a new wooden video game console called the R-Kaid-6. Inspired by various retro game consoles, the R-Kaid-6 features a custom version of the Maximus Arcade front-end for emulators and runs on PC innards from 2001. The unit also sports customized cables and two arcade joysticks that can be stored in the top of the base unit when not in use. So far, there's no set price for the R-Kaid-6, though the website states that the creator can be contacted if you're interested in purchasing the works displayed. Take a look, and remember that even the most annoying <em>Modern Warfare 3</em> opponent screaming epithets at you over Xbox Live has to respect <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/15/snk-continues-to-tickle-retro-gamers-releases-neo-geo-gamepad-f/">retro gaming goodness</a> in its purest form.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/14/love-hulten-shows-off-r-kaid-6-game-console-resurrects-octorok/">Love Hulten shows off R-Kaid-6 game console, resurrects Octorok from 'Zelda'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 14 Dec 2011 07:28:00 EST. Ever feel like your life is one right hand circle pad short of perfection? We've got some good news if you happen to live in Japan -- Nintendo's 3DS Expansion Slide Pad is now available for pre-order via Amazon in that country. Sure, not everyone out there is excited about the thing, but aside from some obvious problems with bulk, we didn't find it entirely unpleasant during our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/14/nintendo-3ds-extended-slide-pad-add-on-first-hands-on/">hands-on time</a> at the Tokyo Game Show last month -- and if that's not a ringing endorsement, we don't know what is. The add-on will run you &yen;1,500 ($19.50) and should start shipping on December 10th in Japan.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/11/nintendo-3ds-extension-up-for-pre-order-in-japan-ready-to-bulk/">Nintendo 3DS expansion up for pre-order in Japan, ready to bulk up consoles in December</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 11 Oct 2011 11:06:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/07/knowles-electronics-mems-joystick-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-ninten/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2011-10-07-joystick.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
With gaming on tablets, the visual experience is often top-notch, but the controls are unfamiliar at best -- even inadequate at times. But adding a traditional joystick is impractical, especially when aesthetics is a key selling point for manufacturers. Chicago-based Knowles Electronics has a fairly practical solution, however, and hopes that some manufacturers will adopt its Mems Joystick. At just 1.6mm tall, the joystick is slim enough for a device to maintain a svelte profile, and the 40 microamps it consumes during normal operation is relatively negligible, according to company reps. Tablets are just the start -- Knowles built a series of prototypes to demonstrate a variety of potential applications.<br />
<br />
We took the joystick for a spin on a Samsung <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/GalaxyTab101/">Galaxy Tab 10.1</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MotorolaAtrix/">Motorola Atrix</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Nintendo3DS/">Nintendo 3DS </a>and a pair of laptops. All of the joystick prototypes connected using Bluetooth or USB, and were designed specifically for this <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CEATEC2011">CEATEC</a> demonstration -- sadly they won't be available for purchase, though manufacturers could implement the controller into similar products. It took only a few seconds to get accustomed to the pair of joysticks mounted to the back of the Tab. Controlling gameplay felt natural, and we definitely preferred playing with a clear view of the display. We also navigated through Google Maps, and scrolled a web page -- both experiences felt superior to moving around the touchscreen. The 3DS joystick functioned similarly to the native controller included with that device, though Knowles reps noted that it's significantly smaller, and uses less power -- and without compromise, it seems.<br />
<br />
Jump past the break for a walkthrough of the devices we saw today, but try not to fall in love -- you won't be able to use the Joystick anytime soon, if manufacturers decide to implement them at all.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/mems-joystick-kj-33000-for-samsung-galaxy-tag-nintendo-3ds-hands-on/">Mems Joystick KJ-33000 for Samsung Galaxy Tab, Nintendo 3DS hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/mems-joystick-kj-33000-for-samsung-galaxy-tag-nintendo-3ds-hands-on/#4505620"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2011ceatecjoystick01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/mems-joystick-kj-33000-for-samsung-galaxy-tag-nintendo-3ds-hands-on/#4505621"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2011ceatecjoystick02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/mems-joystick-kj-33000-for-samsung-galaxy-tag-nintendo-3ds-hands-on/#4505622"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2011ceatecjoystick03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/mems-joystick-kj-33000-for-samsung-galaxy-tag-nintendo-3ds-hands-on/#4505623"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2011ceatecjoystick04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/mems-joystick-kj-33000-for-samsung-galaxy-tag-nintendo-3ds-hands-on/#4505624"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2011ceatecjoystick05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/07/knowles-electronics-mems-joystick-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-ninten/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Knowles Electronics Mems Joystick for Samsung Galaxy Tab, Nintendo 3DS hands-on (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/07/knowles-electronics-mems-joystick-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-ninten/">Knowles Electronics Mems Joystick for Samsung Galaxy Tab, Nintendo 3DS hands-on (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 12:59:00 EST. Nintendo may be AWOL on the TGS show floor (as usual), but that's not stopping Capcom from strutting the big-N's hardware in its stead -- we dropped by its booth for a gameplay-free handling of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/13/nintendo-3ds-circle-pad-add-on-is-official-ships-december-10th/">3DS extended slide pad</a> add-on. The control-extending cradle is every bit as bulky as it looks, killing any hope we had of cramming the rig into our pocket. The trade-off? It's much more comfortable to hold than the naked 3DS, giving our meaty hands a smooth, contoured surface to grip. The new right-hand circle pad feels just as solid as the handheld's dedicated pad, and didn't significantly obstruct our access to the 3DS' face buttons. All in all, the cradle is a comfortable, if awkwardly large extension to the 3DS that doesn't seem to compromise the handheld's existing input. Hit up the gallery below to size up the plump peripheral for yourself.<br />

Yearning to relive the classics (<em>Lunar Lander</em>, anyone?) on your iPad, replete with that authentic arcade feel? It wasn't long ago that we reviewed ThinkGeek and Ion's formidable <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/31/ion-icade-arcade-cabinet-review/">iCade</a>, but at $100, it was -- and still is -- a pricey portion to stomach for an occasional retro gaming fix. Fast forward to the present, and Atari's paired with Discovery Bay Games to create their own <em>official</em> spin on an iPad arcade adapter, fittingly dubbed the Arcade Duo-Powered Joystick. Unlike the iCade, it doesn't use Bluetooth and requires no batteries -- you simply dock your iPad into its 30-pin connector. The joypad is specifically made to work with Atari's Greatest Hits app, and it's set to land in early October for a <em>slightly</em> more wallet-friendly price of $60. We were able to slam its controls a bit while playing through various levels of <em>Major Havoc</em> and the like, and you'll find our impressions after the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atari-arcade-hands-on/">Atari Arcade unboxing and hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atari-arcade-hands-on/#4424873"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0249_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atari-arcade-hands-on/#4424874"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0250_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atari-arcade-hands-on/#4424876"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0251_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atari-arcade-hands-on/#4424877"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0252_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atari-arcade-hands-on/#4424878"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0253_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/07/atari-arcade-is-the-60-answer-to-icade-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Atari Arcade is the $60 answer to iCade (review)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/07/atari-arcade-is-the-60-answer-to-icade-review/">Atari Arcade is the $60 answer to iCade (review)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 07 Sep 2011 16:00:00 EST. Reports from the Japanese end of the internet are claiming that <em>Famitsu</em> magazine has the scoop on that Nintendo 3DS <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/23/rumor-nintendo-working-on-3ds-redesign-10-joystick-add-on/">analog add-on</a> we heard about last month. A page from the magazine (above) shows a rather meaty cradle hugging the sides of the stereoscopic clamshell, reportedly adding an R2 button in addition to a starboard circle pad. The plump peripheral may have been designed specifically for <em>Monster Hunter Tri G</em>, an unannounced (and unconfirmed) game that was leaked in the same issue. <em>Famitsu</em> made no mention of the reported hardware refresh that accompanied the last analog add-on rumor -- and price, release date, and official confirmation from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Nintendo/">Nintendo</a> are still AWOL, of course.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> <em>Kotaku</em> seems to have an official confirmation from Nintendo: "We can confirm that Nintendo plans to release the Circle Pad attachment, but Nintendo's regional subsidiaries will make further announcements about its availability at a later date."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/07/is-this-nintendos-3ds-joystick-add-on/">Is this Nintendo's 3DS joystick add-on?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 07 Sep 2011 02:42:00 EST. It is what it sounds like, kids. Logitech, clearly on a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/16/logitechs-clip-on-tablet-speaker-latches-onto-your-slate-for-de/">tablet accessories tear</a>, just trotted out another toy for the iPad. This time, it's a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/fling-ipad-joystick-thumbs-on/">suction cup joystick that sits on the screen</a>, inviting people to gawk at you while you play <em>Pac Man</em> in Starbucks. As you can see in the photos, this isn't a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/31/ion-icade-arcade-cabinet-review/">ball-capped</a> joystick so much as a laptop-style pointing stick masquerading as a retro controller. That nub has a flat, slick surface, and without much of an indentation or textured grip, it's easy for your finger to slip off. It'll go on sale next month for $19.99, an appropriate price for what will most likely be an impulse buy. For now, we've got video of it in action after the break.<br />

By most accounts, the 3DS hasn't quite been the runaway success that Nintendo was banking on. The company attempted to address the lukewarm response with a significant <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/28/nintendo-3ds-price-drops-from-249-to-169-august-12th-current/">price drop</a> and an accompanying <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/04/nintendo-ceo-responds-to-3ds-price-drop-backlash/">public apology</a>. Now it seems that even more drastic measures may be in the works. French site <em>01net</em>, which has hit past gaming rumors squarely on the head, is reporting that Nintendo is working on a $10 analog joystick add-on that will snap onto the portable console. That revelation poses all kinds of questions, like how the system will be able to close with the controller in place and whether 3DS users will really take to such a thing. Even more interesting is the rumor that the company is working on a redesigned system for 2012, which, among other things, will pull some of the focus away from the 3D functionality that was so central to Nintendo's pitch when the device first launched. According to the rumor, that distancing from the 3D functionality may also be reflected in the name of the new model.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/23/rumor-nintendo-working-on-3ds-redesign-10-joystick-add-on/">Rumor: Nintendo working on 3DS redesign, $10 joystick add-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Aug 2011 10:42:00 EST. Improved gaming controls or a full-screen view? That's the conundrum you'll soon be able to face if you pre-ordered Ten One Design's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/06/ten-one-designs-ipad-joysticks-set-to-have-a-mini-fling-with-yo/">Fling mini</a>, which is now shipping. To refresh your memory, the $25 pair of springy capacitive joysticks for mobile devices -- specifically iPhone and iPod Touch -- cling onto your device's touchscreen, and aim to add tactile feel and added precision. We've used the larger <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/fling-ipad-joystick-thumbs-on/">iPad variant</a> in the past and found it worked pretty well, but we're certainly wary about how much space the mini looks to hog up in comparison. There's more info in the PR past the break if you're still thinking about giving these some thumbs-on time.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/14/ten-one-designs-fling-mini-now-delivering-tactile-control-to-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ten One Design's Fling mini now delivering tactile control to touchscreen gamers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/14/ten-one-designs-fling-mini-now-delivering-tactile-control-to-to/">Ten One Design's Fling mini now delivering tactile control to touchscreen gamers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 14 Jul 2011 12:22:00 EST. Need more stuff to attach to your smartphone? Good news: Ten One Design managed to shrink down those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/04/fling-joystick-lets-you-get-physical-with-super-megaworm-on-the/">stick-on iPad joysticks</a> we played with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/fling-ipad-joystick-thumbs-on/">back at CES</a>, bringing the Fling's screen-cluttering gaming action to the iPhone, iPod touch, and Android devices. The new Fling Mini monopolizes a good deal of its designated phone's display real estate -- and then some -- pushing its way well into the bezel of many handsets. You can pre-order the suction cup controllers now at $24.95 for a pack of two -- five bucks less than their older siblings. They're set to start shipping next month and will no doubt get some good, slightly-obscured face time at E3.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/06/ten-one-designs-ipad-joysticks-set-to-have-a-mini-fling-with-yo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ten One Design's iPad joysticks set to have a mini Fling with your smartphone</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/06/ten-one-designs-ipad-joysticks-set-to-have-a-mini-fling-with-yo/">Ten One Design's iPad joysticks set to have a mini Fling with your smartphone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 06 Jun 2011 05:58:00 EST. The iCade Arcade Cabinet began as an April Fool's joke in 2010, but this golden unicorn of iPad accessories has actually made it to production, showing up at our door last week. iCade creator <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ThinkGeek/">ThinkGeek</a> partnered with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Ion/">Ion</a> to make this former imaginary gadget a reality, and so far it appears to be a hit, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/21/icade-arcade-cabinet-for-ipad-starts-selling-at-100-already-on/">backordered for weeks</a> soon after hitting the online store in April. The $100 cabinet pairs with your iPad or iPad 2 over bluetooth, bringing familiar hardware arcade controls to the Atari's Greatest Hits app, which includes classics like <em>Missile Command</em> (free), and <em>Pong</em>, which you can download from within the free Atari app for $1. The iCade is an awesome addition to your gaming collection, but it won't replace the hours of coin-dropping at your local arcade. Read on to find out why this accessory may become a permanent fixture on our desk.<br />

Sure, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/28/sony-ericsson-xperia-play-review/">Xperia Play</a> may have that slick gamepad slider, shoulder buttons, and Sony Playstation's official blessing, but can it hold its own against the Shadow's analog pad? Probably, because despite the new contender's self described status of a "mobile Playstation," its lack of shoulder buttons won't help it play any of those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/31/playstation-one-games-appear-in-android-market-predictably-rest/">Xperia-exclusive PSone games</a> it can't download. Still, besides being known as the "Phantom of the Opera" phone (thanks, Google Translate), this MOPS Shadow T800 has a lot going for it. This analog Android packs a Froyo-powered 806MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, front and rear 5 megapixel and 0.3 megapixel cameras, respectively, a 3.5 inch 320 x 480 touchscreen, and a whole mess of standard GPS, Bluetooth, and 3G radios. Not enough? Okay, fine; the device also comes pre-loaded with a handful of emulators, as well as a legit copy of Assassin's Creed. Besides, who doesn't want a phone with card-suit face buttons? Bragging rights will set you back 2680 yuan ($410), assuming you're in China when this thing launches later this month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/14/mops-shadow-t800-brings-analog-joystick-hearts-and-spades-to-andr/">MOPS Shadow T800 brings analog joystick, hearts &amp; spades to Android</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 14 May 2011 07:02:00 EST. To wit, the iCade gaming cabinet for the iPad, an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/01/april-fools-day-roundup-let-me-topeka-that-for-you-edition/">April Fools' joke</a> that was just a fun idea this time last year, has gone and turned <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/ion-icade-hands-on-gaming-on-the-ipad-like-its-1979-video/">very real</a>, replete with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/13/icade-hits-fcc-gets-torn-asunder/">FCC certification</a> and now a pre-order page. The Bluetooth-communicating iPad enclosure seems to have originally been on sale for immediate delivery, but <em>ThinkGeek</em> has burned through its first shipment of units faster than you can say "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/07/ataris-greatest-hits-collection-brings-100-classic-games-to-ios/">Atari's Greatest Hits</a>." The second batch of $100 iCades is expected by May 20th at the very latest, although orders are being taken only from the US for now. The rest of the world needn't despair, however -- we hear building <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/18/freekade-the-ipad-arcade-cabinet-goes-up-for-auction-video/">one of your own</a> is a pleasurable and rewarding experience.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/21/icade-arcade-cabinet-for-ipad-starts-selling-at-100-already-on/">iCade arcade cabinet for iPad starts selling at $100, already on backorder</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 21 Apr 2011 05:41:00 EST. The arcade cabinet for your iPad had all its Bluetoothy bits laid bare and even brought along its user manual, in case you're the type who bothers to read those sordid things. There aren't too many surprises here except, perhaps, the inclusion of an Ikea-esque hex key -- some assembly required. With the green light from the feds, though, that means the iCade is right on schedule for its May 31st release. If you want to ensure you nab one of the first batch, you can pre-order it now for $99 from either GameStop or ThinkGeek. And, while you wait for the blissful marriage of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/07/ataris-greatest-hits-collection-brings-100-classic-games-to-ios/"><em>Atari's Greatest Hits</em></a> and Bluetooth joystick, you can peep the pics in the gallery after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/13/icade-hits-fcc-gets-torn-asunder/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iCade hits FCC, gets torn asunder</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/13/icade-hits-fcc-gets-torn-asunder/">iCade hits FCC, gets torn asunder</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 13 Apr 2011 22:54:00 EST. Even though games like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/09/app-review-infinity-blade-iphone/"><em>Infinity Blade</em></a> can be great fun on the iPhone, there's no getting around the fact that touchscreen-centric, buttonless devices don't offer the best gaming ergonomics. A modding project gone horribly right, however, might just fix that right up for all of us. Shane Wighton set out to build a robot to try and beat his favorite iPhone game, replete with a webcam and an Arduino setup, but in the process of doing so he "just realized that [he'd] made a mechanism to play tilt based phone games with a joystick." Yes indeedy, one of the most awesome DIY gaming accessories was built by fluke as much as design. See it revolutionizing mobile gaming just after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/12/iphone-meets-arduino-tilt-joystick-for-mobile-games-results-vi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iPhone meets Arduino, tilt joystick for mobile games results (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/12/iphone-meets-arduino-tilt-joystick-for-mobile-games-results-vi/">iPhone meets Arduino, tilt joystick for mobile games results (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 12 Jan 2011 02:09:00 EST. We've seen many <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/11/wii-joystick-for-arcade-snobs-now-on-ebay/">arcade-style joysticks</a> for video game consoles over the years, and the trend is making its way to the tablet market. The ThinkGeek Joystick-It attaches to your tablet's screen in a position of your choosing so that you can game on your shiny new slate in a decidedly retro way. The joystick is all-aluminum, works with any game that has an on-screen control pad, and does its thing without the use of batteries. We don't know how the device actually attaches to the display, but we do know that it is more aesthetically pleasing than <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/04/fling-joystick-lets-you-get-physical-with-super-megaworm-on-the/">other tactile control solutions</a> we've seen at CES this year. The Joystick-It will cost $24.95 and be available by the end of January, so if old-school gaming is your thing, check out the demo video after the break.<br />

You know, some people take gaming <em>very</em> seriously, and there's no doubt that a good portion of them will be picking up this new peripheral from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ten+one+design">Ten One Design</a>. For $24.95, the Fling tactile game controller promises to enhance some iPad games by overlaying their virtual D-pad with a physical mini joystick. And that's not it -- the funky spiral mechanism also provides resistance to simulate force feedback, meaning your thumb will always know its boundaries. Check out the video demo after the break.<br />

Already got a tween of your own begging and pleading for a decent gaming joystick from Santa? It's a common issue, or so we hear. Thrustmaster's HOTAS Warthog is probably one of the nicest around, and it looks as if it'll be landing on American doormats in plenty of time to procure a sufficient amount of wrapping paper. The ultimate flight sim stick will start shipping out by the end of this month for a wallet-melting $499.99, but thankfully for you, we were able to put together a lengthy list of impressions <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/17/thrustmaster-unveils-its-perfect-replica-hotas-warthog-flight-co/">during a hands-on session</a> back at E3. Teiyu Goto, the man responsible for saving us from that kidney-shaped disaster above and delivering us the splendid original<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/03/sonys-playstation-marks-15th-anniversary/"> PlayStation</a>'s <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/23/playstation-controller-cuff-links-impress-sony-interviewers/">controller</a>, has sat down for a little chat with <em>Famitsu</em> over in Japan. Involved in the PlayStation project almost from its inception, the designer played a pivotal role in shifting Sony away from its Nintendo copycat ways and into the world of handle-equipped button pads. Moreover, his brainbox is the one responsible for coming up with the now legendary geometric button icons adorning the PS controller's buttons. Here's how Goto explains their meaning: the circle and x represent yes and no, respectively, the triangle symbolizes a point of view, and the square is equated to a sheet of paper, there to be used to access menus. Frankly, given the backlog of memories we have built up with those keys, this explanation leaves us a little high and dry, couldn't he have made up some dragon-slaying stories? Hit the source below for the whole interview, it's well worth the read.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/26/playstation-designer-explains-what-the-controller-symbols-mean/">PlayStation designer explains what the controller symbols mean, dishes a bit of history</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 04:31:00 EST. In one of those fun, yet uncomfortable, instances where real life and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/videogames">video games</a> interact, <em>Fox News</em> has uncovered a dusty (and old, very old) <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/playstation%2Ccontroller">PlayStation controller</a> during a raid of an Afghanistani farmhouse, which doubled up as a munitions depository. Lying there, in among rockets, grenades, plastic explosives and tank shells, was this humble blue-hued PlayStation appendage, which we're told can be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/25/video-a-brief-history-of-game-console-teardowns/">rewired</a> to act as a remote detonator. Should you question just how seriously the US government is taking this <em>growing tide</em> of console-aided terrorism, below you'll find a press release (seriously, a state-issued press release) detailing the detainment of four men in connection with the illegal transportation of digital cameras and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/31/sony-playstation-2-just-99-99-starting-tomorrow/">PlayStation 2s</a> to a "terrorist entity" in Paraguay. If convicted of the most egregious charge, they face 20 years in prison... for contraband consoles. Face, meet palm.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/01/if-you-throw-away-your-console-the-terrorists-have-won/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>If you throw away your console, the terrorists have won</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/01/if-you-throw-away-your-console-the-terrorists-have-won/">If you throw away your console, the terrorists have won</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 01 Mar 2010 04:52:00 EST. Shoulder buttons? Never heard of 'em. Give us all our buttons in a nice rainbow-shaped array and a big stick for our southpaw and leave us well enough alone. Hori, the company behind the most righteous <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/23/hori-s-tekken-6-xbox-360-ps3-joystick-aint-a-bad-way-to-burn/"><em>Tekken 6</em> arcade controller</a>, is back with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/03/homebrew-street-fighter-iv-ps3-controller-stands-up-on-its-own-l/"><em>Street Fighter</em></a>-inspired effort for the true enthusiasts out there. It's been a while since we last got an update from ZodTTD on his <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/icontrolpad">iControlPad</a> iPhone controller accessory, but this latest prototype looks like it was worth the wait. The controls have been moved from the sides of the phone to a more comfortable-seeming bottom placement with dual analog sticks and rear-mounted triggers, and the whole thing's gotten bigger and badder -- there's even an internal battery for charging your phone as you play. ZodTTD says actual shipping hardware is coming soon -- just make sure you <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/03/dutch-hacker-seeks-out-jailbroken-iphones-for-fame-and-fortune/">change that default root password</a> if you decide to jailbreak and grab one, mkay?<br />
<br />
P.S.- ZodTTD says another video featuring psx4iphone and a "pretty sweet Wipeout XL demo" is coming shortly on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/zodttd">his YouTube channel</a>, we'll keep you updated.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/08/latest-icontrolpad-prototype-bulks-up-gets-handled-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Latest iControlPad prototype bulks up, gets handled on video</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/08/latest-icontrolpad-prototype-bulks-up-gets-handled-on-video/">Latest iControlPad prototype bulks up, gets handled on video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 08 Nov 2009 17:29:00 EST. For some of you, like this guy (look at his face!), this is a dream come true, no questions asked. The rest will be wondering what the hell is going on here. See, that bicycle helmet affixed with what looks like a robotic crab is a not so subtle, ear tugging navigational device that could ultimately <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/16/swan-system-for-wearable-audio-navigation/">benefit the sight-impaired</a> or anyone, really -- it pulls on the left ear to direct the wearer to the left, on the right to go right. Simple. Granted, it looks ridiculous now, but imagine it miniaturized under a tin-foil helmet and communicating with a hands- and eyes-free GPS navigational system. Toyota's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/video-toyota-unveils-ft-ev-concept-details-plug-in-prius-you/">FT-EV</a> concept was tiny, quirky, electric powered -- and honestly a bit predictable. Its successor, the FT-EV II, takes that staid design and sends it way out there, leaving the exterior unchanged (some gold detailing adds a touch of flash) but dialing up the intrigue on the inside. The traditional wheel and pedal controls have been replaced by a gilded mechanical joystick contraption that would look appropriate on a Victorian-era rocket ship (had any such thing actually existed) leaving more legroom and what looks to be a more ergonomic driving experience. It's a control scheme the company used previously on its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/i-real">i-Real</a> concept... chair... thing, but this is the first Toyota with doors to rock it. Will those sticks and all that brushed metal and faux-ivory still be there when this car releases? Not a chance, sadly.<br /><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/transportation/" rel="tag">Transportation</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/22/toyotas-ft-ev-ii-concept-sports-steampunk-interior-joystick-co/">Toyota's FT-EV II concept sports steampunk interior, joystick controls</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 22 Oct 2009 08:45:00 EST. Heading to Comic-Con this year? If not, you'll be missing out on a limited edition <em>Street Fighter IV-</em>branded FightSticks and FightPads from Mad Catz, with button layouts designed to maximize your hadouken-throwing efficiency and with a design the <span style="font-style: italic;">Joystiq</span> crew labels as inspired by Sagat (the character) -- a perfect complement to your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/04/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-joysticks-surface-for-ps3/">Tournament Edition sticks</a>. According to Capcom's official blog, only 500 of each have been made, divided evenly between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The pad will cost you $49.99, the sticks $179.99, and the online auction resale value guaranteed to be even more.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-limited-engagement-at-comic-con/">Special edition Mad Catz Street Fighter IV controllers set for limited engagement at Comic-Con</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-limited-engagement-at-comic-con/#2155745"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/1ed69738fa7f314d7301130b19a35984_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-limited-engagement-at-comic-con/#2155748"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/4b3a9cceff659ceec44c275534909a03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-limited-engagement-at-comic-con/#2155749"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/7ccfe7f2e0dc0feb7d37dec50783b478_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-limited-engagement-at-comic-con/#2155750"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/349c7db1e2f33657d3498c0a814feae8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-limited-engagement-at-comic-con/#2155751"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/cfd172224faa80e45e8dcea899db6432_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/limited-edition-mad-catz-sfiv-controllers-available-at-comic-con/">Joystiq</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/20/special-edition-mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers-set-for-l/">Special edition Mad Catz Street Fighter IV controllers set for limited engagement at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 20:49:00 EST. We'll admit, that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/24/modder-brings-virtual-ons-dual-sticks-to-the-xbox-360-on-the-ch/">cheap-o Virtual On mod</a> we peeked earlier this year was pretty stellar, but those obsessed with the anime-themed title are likely tired of using a hacked up <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Xbox360/">Xbox 360</a> gamepad in order to advance from stage to stage. If you've found yourself in that increasingly narrow niche, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HORI/">HORI</a> has a fine piece you should feast your eyes upon. The refreshed TwinStick EX was designed specifically for Microsoft's latest console and to be used specially with Virtual On. The result? A &yen;30,000 ($325) joystick that you'll probably never quite justify the purchase of to your significant other. Get your pre-orders in early; we get the feeling these are bound to sell out.<br /><br />[Thanks, Marv]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/13/horis-revamped-twinstick-ex-fit-for-virtual-on-addicts-only/">HORI's revamped TwinStick EX: fit for Virtual On addicts only</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 13 Jul 2009 08:31:00 EST. Got a knack for fighting titles? Have a particular fondness for <em>Tekken</em>? If so, you definitely shouldn't be playing with a stock controller, and that's exactly why <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Hori/">Hori</a> has crafted the beauty you're inevitably peering at above. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/joystick/">stick</a>, which will ship as part of a <em>Tekken 6</em> Wireless Fight Stick Bundle bundle, will be made available soon for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Xbox360/">Xbox 360</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PlayStation3/">PlayStation 3</a> (shown after the break), and according to our pals over at <em>Joystiq</em>, it'll be on sale at a variety of respected retailers for $150. Said MSRP also includes a collectible art book and a pinch of pride, which totally justifies the somewhat steep asking price. Right? Right.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/23/hori-s-tekken-6-xbox-360-ps3-joystick-aint-a-bad-way-to-burn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hori's Tekken 6 Xbox 360 / PS3 joystick ain't a bad way to burn $150</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/23/hori-s-tekken-6-xbox-360-ps3-joystick-aint-a-bad-way-to-burn/">Hori's Tekken 6 Xbox 360 / PS3 joystick ain't a bad way to burn $150</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Jun 2009 08:42:00 EST. Not so eager to burn thousands of dollars and years of your life at flight school, only to get stuck with pitiful route options and no three day layovers in Barbados? Have a look at your next best option, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Logitech/">Logitech</a>'s Flight System G940. Hailed as the company's first force-feedback flight simulation controller, this thing goes far beyond the simple call of duty. Instead of just tossing a joystick in a box and calling it a day, Logitech has also included dual throttle and rudder pedals, giving you 250 programmable button options and bragging rights galore. Sadly, you'll have to coast through the summer 'til this hits Europe and America in September, but that should give you plenty of time to save up the three Benjamins it'll require to bring one home in legal fashion.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/logitechs-flight-system-g940/">Logitech's Flight System G940</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/logitechs-flight-system-g940/#2055054"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/logitech-g40-flight-stick-(3)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/logitechs-flight-system-g940/#2055053"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/logitech-g40-flight-stick-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/logitechs-flight-system-g940/#2055052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/logitech-g40-flight-stick-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/logitechs-flight-system-g940/#2055051"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/logitech-g940-joystick_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/logitechs-flight-system-g940-joystick-almost-replaces-flight-sc/">Logitech's Flight System G940 joystick almost replaces flight school</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 03 Jun 2009 09:22:00 EST. Ah, a childhood favorite revisited. Years back, our hearts were taken by the one and only <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/16/robo-catcher-in-the-wry/">Robo Catcher</a>, and now it seems the famed toy snatching game has seen a revamping that features JR Robotics' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/RB2000/">RB2000</a> as the main grabber. The entire unit has also been freshened up in the design department, and the addition of a joystick control system brings it up to speed with all of its "just a claw game" rivals. Hop on past the break for a look at what you're missing out on here in the states.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/22/video-rb2000-featured-in-new-improved-robo-catcher/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: RB2000 featured in new, improved Robo Catcher</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/22/video-rb2000-featured-in-new-improved-robo-catcher/">Video: RB2000 featured in new, improved Robo Catcher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 22 May 2009 08:33:00 EST. Got a bit of couch cushion change weighing you down? Need a little something to revitalize that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PS3/">PS3</a> love affair? You've come to the right place, friend. SNK has just unleashed a new duo of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/joystick/">fighting sticks</a> over in Japan, and both are downright drool-worthy. The new controllers are being launched alongside King of Fighters XII this July, with one featuring artwork from the title and the second boasting a Neo Geo throwback vibe (pictured after the jump) that should resonate quite well with gamers of yesteryear. The tandem is priced at &yen;6,279 ($65) and &yen;5,229 ($54), respectively, though we get the feeling it'll be import or bust for us Yanks.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/fight-like-a-king-with-these-snk-fighting-sticks/">Joystiq</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/15/snk-fighting-joysticks-tempt-playstation-3-importers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SNK fighting joysticks tempt PlayStation 3 importers</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/15/snk-fighting-joysticks-tempt-playstation-3-importers/">SNK fighting joysticks tempt PlayStation 3 importers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 15 May 2009 03:52:00 EST. Hot on the heels of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/XCM/">XCM</a>'s <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/17/xcm-dominator-joystick-for-playstation-3-ships-next-week-for-89/">Dominator joystick</a> comes an even more irresistible iteration, making those that took the plunge in January inevitably jealous. The newfangled Rumble Joystick for PlayStation 3 isn't terribly different from the original... save for the fact that this one shakes, rattles and rolls, of course. Described as the world's first PS3 joystick to rumble natively, this bugger also packs four memory buttons for programming all sorts of sick, twisted macros alongside independent Rapid Fire and Turbo buttons. Moving on, we've got the all new XO Adapter for PS3, which adds support for macros, Rapid Fire and Turbo to any vanilla Dual Shock or SIXAXIS controller. There's no mention of pricing for either, but we suspect that'll change in the near future (like, real soon, given that they'll be shipping in under a month).<br /><br /><a href="http://www.teamxcm.com/forums/news-and-information/152-xcm-rumble-joystick-for-playstation-3-ps3.html">Read</a> - Rumble Joystick for PS3<br /><a href="http://www.teamxcm.com/forums/news-and-information/151-xcm-ko-gear-for-playstation-3-ps3.html">Read</a> - XO Adapter for PS3<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/xcm-introduces-rumble-joystick-and-ko-adapter-for-playstation-3/">XCM introduces Rumble Joystick and KO Adapter for PlayStation 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/xcm-introduces-rumble-joystick-and-ko-adapter-for-playstation-3/#1480414"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/04/xcm-rumble-joystick-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/xcm-introduces-rumble-joystick-and-ko-adapter-for-playstation-3/#1480413"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/04/xcm-rumble-joystick-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/xcm-introduces-rumble-joystick-and-ko-adapter-for-playstation-3/#1480412"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/04/xcm-ko-rumble-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/xcm-introduces-rumble-joystick-and-ko-adapter-for-playstation-3/#1480411"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/04/xcm-rumble-joystick-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/xcm-introduces-rumble-joystick-and-ko-adapter-for-playstation-3/">XCM introduces Rumble Joystick and KO Adapter for PlayStation 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 15:03:00 EST. Not that we haven't <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/29/snes-cd-development-controller-on-ebay-for-a-mint/">seen</a> some pretty <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/27/worlds-only-powerfest-94-snes-cartridge-up-for-auction/">crazy</a> Nintendo gear fetch some pretty crazy prices on The Bay, but this is definitely amongst the weirdest. Shipping directly from the frigid tundras of Fairbanks, Alaska, this Joystick Test Cartridge for the Nintendo Entertainment System will undoubtedly spend a record low amount of time within your still kickin' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NES/">NES</a> console. Put simply, these carts were passed out to game stores for them to test out their NES machines, and after they were done, they were instructed to ship the cart back to the Mushroom Kingdom. Clearly, one renegade employee shoved it in his coat pocket and made a beeline for The Last Frontier. Surely all that's worth $1,050, right?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/ebay-watch-ultra-rare-1-050-nes-joystick-test-cartridge">TechEBlog</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/29/nes-joystick-test-cartridge-lands-on-ebay-complete-with-lowest/">NES Joystick Test Cartridge lands on eBay, complete with lowest replay value ever</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 29 Mar 2009 21:02:00 EST. Just in case you missed the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a> barrage from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/asus,cebit2009">earlier this morning</a>, we'll bring you back up to speed while also showing off another fun gizmo the company drug to Hannover. The motion sensing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/06/asus-gets-official-with-eee-stick/">Eee Sticks</a> were on hand at CeBIT, and in varying colors to boot. We were too bashful to get a video of ourselves playing in the demo rig the company had set up, but we're making it our mission to coerce other attendees to have a go and let us film them tomorrow. 'Til then, have a look at the stationary Sticks below.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-eee-stick-at-cebit/">ASUS shows off Eee Stick at CeBIT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-eee-stick-at-cebit/#1400095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_sticks_cebit_1463_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-eee-stick-at-cebit/#1400094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_sticks_cebit_1462_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-eee-stick-at-cebit/#1400093"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_sticks_cebit_1435_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-eee-stick-at-cebit/#1400092"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_sticks_cebit_1434_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/asus-shows-off-eee-stick-at-cebit/">ASUS shows off Eee Stick at CeBIT</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 12:46:00 EST. Well tell ya, these cats at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/XCM/">XCM</a> really know how to craft some irresistible gear. After making us wait seven painstaking months for a new gadget to drool over, the creators of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/12/xcm-offers-up-mega-cool-component-to-vga-converter/">Mega-Cool</a> component-to-VGA converter have announced that the Dominator Joystick for PlayStation 3 is all set to ship next week. The highly programmable arcade-style stick includes a Combo Attacker and Rapid Fire mode for borderline cheating, and the four memory buttons enable macros to be stored and kept at arm's reach. Of course, a gaming joystick wouldn't be a gaming joystick without a superabundance of blue LEDs, so you'll certainly find those there as well. You can toss in your pre-order now if you'd like, but make sure you've got $89.99 free and clear before doing so.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/ps3-xcm-dominator-joystick-gets-price-and-ships-next-week-1630882/">Slashgear</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/17/xcm-dominator-joystick-for-playstation-3-ships-next-week-for-89/">XCM Dominator joystick for PlayStation 3 ships next week for $89.99</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 17 Jan 2009 17:11:00 EST. We at Engadget will always have a special place in our hearts for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/03/hacked-street-fighter-joystick-for-the-xbox-360/">Street Fighter</a>, and if you can't help but agree, you might be unable to resist picking up one of these. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MadCatz/">Mad Catz</a> has introduced a new pair of joysticks for Sony's PlayStation 3: the Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition and the Street Fighter IV FightStick. The first will only be available in "very limited quantities," and it'll pack the exact Sanwa joystick and 30-millimeter buttons found in the official Street Fighter IV arcade machine; the latter is a more commoditized version with a more vanilla 'stick and plain jane buttons. Both devices are scheduled to ship on February 20th of next year, with pricing set at $149.99 and $69.99, respectively.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/12/02/awesome-street-fighter-iv-resource-and-mad-catz-official-controllers/">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001M25AY6">Read</a> - Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition<br /><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001M22WLU">Read</a> - Street Fighter IV FightStick<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/04/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-joysticks-surface-for-ps3/">Mad Catz Street Fighter IV joysticks surface for PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 04 Dec 2008 07:27:00 EST.
