Nothing hurts the Joystiq Podcast more than the absence of the utterly charming Justin McElroy, and the lack of the perfectly tolerable Chris Grant threatens to destroy the show completely. But rather than take a leisurely hiatus, Ludwig, Xav (and sometimes Griffin and David) discuss a hectic week in games: Alan Wake, Split/Second, Red Dead Redemption and ... some things that got cut. This is by far the most organized, logical and edited episode in the show's history -- which means it's probably the worst one yet. Oh well! Don't forget to thank Alan Black for the foreboding photoshop. He's over there, stealing your coffee. This week's podcast had its share of ups and downs ... like, there was the time the file got messed up and we had to re-record half the show this morning, or the time we accidentally murdered Justin with a chloroform overdose. Actually, that sounds like a lot of downs. On the "ups" side of things, we talk about Rocket Knight, Steam on Mac OS X, and we answer your wacky emails, so there's still some good left in the world. And big ups to Evan Hodgins for his stark vision of an exoskeleton-enhanced Joystiq Podcast. We wish we could tell you that all we're talking about is Alan Wake and the Halo: Reach beta, but somehow Nier manages to work its way into the conversation. Finally, we've got some big exciting new games to talk about with our take on Alan Wake, the Halo: Reach beta and ... OK, just a little bit of Final Fantasy XIII. But seriously, just a little. Like, if your ears blink, you'll miss it. Plus, as you can see after the break, there's an opportunity for you to give back to the fine people of Huntington with your unwanted PS2 games. Perhaps you've always wanted to get on board with the Joystiq Podcast but didn't know where to start. Maybe you're a long-time fan, but forget funny things almost as soon as you hear them. Or maybe you just have three spare hours and want to fill them with delight. For all of you, there is Joystiq Podcast: Episode Zero. The product of nearly a year of work and countless man hours, Episode Zero collects listener-selected best bits from the first 100 episodes of the Joystiq Podcast. Though a labor of love for the whole of the JPAG, special thanks goes to Ryan Gan for organizing the whole thing, Erron Kelly for cutting the audio and Dali Dimovski for sequencing the clips. Sincerely guys, thank you. (Special bonus: You'll find a list of all the bits after the jump!) To the rest of you, sit back, get a mug of coffee, relax ... and get ready for love. We thought for a change we'd fill a show to the brim with hot, steamy quality. This week, that means more MAG and Mass Effect 2 chat, a Dragon Age: Origins Spoiled Rotten, your emails, PAX East planning and so much more. This week we welcome a special guest to the show, Justin Russo, who won his spot by helping out fellow JPAGger Wesley Johnson to get a dead guy's gums grafted onto his own. But it's not just a show about him, we've got tons of discussion about the new Assassin's Creed, hug chat with Ken Levine, alleged Rockstar shadiness and Dark Void. Plus there's Tip O' The Week, Stump JC and all the usual garbage. Enjoy. Oh, and thanks to Mike Suszek for the unfunny but inexplicably popular photoshop. We sent a canary down into Justin's West Virginian internet pipes and, just as we expected, it keeled over dead. Those pipes aren't safe and, since safety has always been our #1 concern here at the Joystiq Podcast Warehouse, we've asked our own Ben Gilbert to step in. Justin does join us for a quick phone chat about Dante's Inferno, Richard Mitchell joins us to talk about the chilly welcoming of this week's Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and JC Fletcher helps us make sense of that Yakuza 3 news. Oh, and Photochop Man Alan Black reminds us about Mega Man 10. The video game release schedule may be winding down, but we're most certainly not, with all the Saboteur, Assassin's Creed 2 and Bayonetta impressions that you crave. Oh, and there's a Blueberry Muffin Tops contest you have to get involved in. Also, we're in debt to Christopher Schons who made the above totally radical, Dragon Age-inspired artwork. Plus, as a special bonus, we mention having giveaway bags of Blueberry Muffin Tops cereal but completely forget to give them away. So, we'll do it right here.
