Twitch shut down Justin.tv this week, putting an end to the streaming platform's seven-year run, as the company is now focusing its resources on Twitch. Videos on Justin.tv are no longer available to view, and those with active premium pro accounts should receive an email about getting refunded. The shift in focus has been in the works for months, as the company formerly known as Justin.tv changed its corporate name to Twitch in February, the same time Twitch achieved one million active monthly broadcasters. Those with Justin.tv accounts that would like to move over to Twitch need to fill out a form on Twitch's site, though all requests must be received by September 5. However, Justin.tv broadcasters' videos are lost forever; VOD and video archiving support were removed on June 15.

Hauppauge, not satisfied with only bringing DVR-like functions to the Broadway this week -- has unleashed a new box called the StreamEez that links your HD video camera to your computer for live broadcasts. HDMI or component video hook it up on the cam side, USB on the computer side. It uses H.264 video compression and is compatible with sites like USTREAM that require the RTMP protocol. The box plus Windows software starts at $299. Everything but the price probably sounds pretty familiar since the incredibly similar Livestream Broadcaster is also just about on the scene, though, it'll run you about $195 more. Take a gander at the PR after the break.

Be ye ready for a ... sorry, we can do better pirate than that! Noy jitat, arrrrrrrrre ye ready to watch some LucasArts developers play Monkey Island and answer your barnacle infested questions? Then head on over to Justin.tv/lucasartsgames tomorrow at 3PM Pacific. LucasArts devs will play through the early part of the game for approximately an hour and answer viewer questions. The event will not be recorded, so you'll have to make a date if the event interests you. Or, you know, someone out there in the stormy seas of the internets can record the event and then maybe slide a link where people can watch it later. You know, in the comments here or something. Too right, now ye be thinkin' like pirates!

  • Bored? Watch people play Halo 3 at Justin.tv

Sometimes we're away from our Xbox 360s (scary thought, no?) and, as a result, we get a bad case of Halo 3 withdrawal. Seriously, you don't want to be in our company when we haven't been able to play Halo 3 for more than 48 hours. Violence and random obscenities is the end result. But the second best thing to actually playing the game is watching it online and, with the help of Justin.tv, that's exactly what we do curb our Halo 3 appetite.Over at the Halo 3 Justin.tv page you can watch three college roommates take turns playing Halo 3 "12/7". Using the power of a webcam that's pointed directly at their rather large HD screen, you can waste seconds, minutes or hours of your life watching them spew ammo from their BR or drive a Warthog in circles. They are only online "12/7", so there is some downtime, but be rest assured that the three roommates will put in their 12 gaming hours a day for you in your time of need. That's what gaming is all about, sharing the experience.[Thanks, erica campbell]
