Let's face it, if you're a Wii U owner you're well aware Mario Kart 8 is out tomorrow. It's the series' first HD entry, when you register it online you get a code for a free game, and you know this. But, maybe for some foul reason you're less Mario Kart 8 and more Mario Kart Hate. Luckily for you, you fiend, there are other games out on Nintendo systems this week. First off there's Ittle Dew, a familiarly heroic adventure that's making a far too appropriate jump to Wii U. The influx of GBA games for Wii U continues with Klonoa: Empire of Dreams, and retro fans can also grab Mega Man Xtreme 2 on 3DS. Sales-wise, a 33-percent cut pushes 3DS games Pushmo and Crashmo down to $4.69 and $6 respectively. That offer ends on June 13, a week before Pushmo World drops on Wii U.

  • ESRB dreams up Klonoa: Door to Phantomile on PS3 and PSP

When we saw this news, our giant wing-like ears flapped in excitement and we exclaimed in a nonsensical language. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, one of the PlayStation's best (and only) side-scrollers, is going to be released on PSN via PSOne Classics. That is, of course, assuming that's why the ESRB rated the game for PS3 and PSP. It's a pretty safe assumption. If you don't want to wait for the Wind Bulleting, enemy-grabbing action to hit PS3 and PSP, Door to Phantomile is also available in a more modern form -- it was remade for Wii.

  • Klonoa price slashed in UK, before release

Critical darling (and Wiimake) Klonoa has seen a UK price cut, prior to even being released to stores. The upcoming Nintendo Wii title is scheduled to release on May 22, but multiple retailers have cut the RRP nearly in half. Play.com UK is offering the PS1 remake for £14.99 while Amazon.co.uk is selling the title for £17.99. The suggested retail price is listed as £24.99.If the price slash continues after release, Klonoa could be one of the fastest cuts we've ever seen to to a Namco title. Unless you count the cut to our hearts when Star Wars characters were unceremoniously introduced into the world of Soul Calibur. Which we do.%Gallery-33429%[Via DarkZero]

Eurogamer reports that Namco's Klonoa remake will be making its way to Europe, likely putting a smile on a face or two along the way. Klonoa is an updated version of the original PSOne game, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, and features a new control scheme that takes advantage of the capabilities of the Wiimote and Nunchuk, but will also include a classic control method for those who wish to ditch the waggle.Klonoa is currently available in Japan and will make its way to North America sometime this spring. It'll arrive in Europe sometime this year.%Gallery-41365%

And it's doing away with that pesky subtitle Door to Phantomile. Yes, Namco's remake of the classic PSOne game will release in North America, as reported earlier, and will simply be titled Klonoa. Should be easy enough to remember. All we have to go on right now is a 2009 release window. Namco hasn't specified an exact date within the year, but, hey, it's 2009 right now. Let's hope we get it sooner rather than later.See also: Born for Wii: Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil%Gallery-33429%[Via press release]

  • Klonoa getting US release, shorter title

Whoa. Click to embiggen. It's been over a decade since Klonoa: Door to Phantomile came out on the original PlayStation, received heaps of critical praise, and completely tanked at retail. The Wii remake will have its own chance at being unsuccessful this year when it's released by Namco Bandai under a new, shorter moniker: Klonoa. We're hoping Wii owners in the US won't ignore this charming platformer. The Wii Remote seems perfectly suited for the game. A large part of the game involves grabbing and throwing enemies, and that should be easily handled with a simple shake of the Remote. Those that want more traditional controls will be able to use a GameCube or Classic controller. The charming character designs and colorful environments certainly make the game one of the more eye-popping on Wii.
