  • Guild Wars 2 increasing population limits for the beta weekend

The Guild Wars 2 beta is getting hammered. No, it's not slipping off to the bar to order shots until it can't drive home, but it is getting filled with people eager to try out the game. To compensate, ArenaNet has just announced that world population limits are being increased for the beta event, meaning that several worlds previously listed as being full are now open to more characters. This may not fix the issue, but it should help alleviate some of the stress from the rush. Of course, the game is still in beta, and that means that not everything in the game is fully polished. Want to make sure that there's actually a problem and not just an issue with your computer? Check the updated known issues thread, which has an extensive set of understood issues. Perhaps most globally relevant is the fact that the game is apparently very heavily bottlenecked by the CPU; if you're having performance issues, lowering the video settings may not help you for this round of testing.

  • LotRO Update 5.1 shoots Saruman in the knee

Lord of the Rings Online is bringing its servers down today to apply Update 5.1 across the board. While it's certainly not a content patch like its predecessor, it does have a sizable number of fixes and tweaks that should improve quality of (game) life for all. Some of the changes include eliminating dyes from lootboxes, a nerf to Minstrel codas, many tweaks to the Tower of Orthanc raid, the option to timestamp chat messages, and small improvements to the treasure hunt. The devs have also posted an updated list of known issues for the game. As always, it's worth going through the patch notes to try to find the funny asides. In this update? "Addressed a number of typos. Probably added some new ones."

  • Black Prophecy community letter addresses known issues, item shop, and the future

Hold up just a minute there, space cowboy. Gamigo's Patrick Streppel has released a new community letter, which addresses a few questions and grievances that have been raised by Black Prophecy players. The letter first takes time to address some known issues with the game. Foremost of said issues is the acknowledgement that with the game's first major content update, many users began to experience large performance issues. Streppel states that fixing these issues is numero uno on the team's priority list but that it "cannot promise immediate improvement" due to the fact that the source of the issue is "spread across several internal game systems." Next up is the touchy subject of the item shop. Players have long decried the game's cash shop for being too expensive while simultaneously failing to give players an adequate description of what exactly they're spending their money on. In response, the team has lowered item prices and will proceed to alter item descriptions "in order to give [players] a clearer picture of what [they] are actually buying." The letter then gives players a brief glimpse into the game's future. The next episode of the game features warzones, which are "a brand new PvP experience" allowing players to duke it out with the opposing faction for control of key territories. Conquering these warzones will grant players XP, rewards in the form of exclusive upgrade blueprints, and "greater individual and group powers" for the victorious faction. For the full letter, which includes further details about the warzone system and more detailed discussions of the game's known issues, click on through the link below to the official forums.

Before we even begin with the new 4.0.1 content, Blizzard has released a post about the known issues with the newest patch. We are confident that a lot of these issues, mostly tooltip problems or item costs, will be rectified soon. Other than that, enjoy some of the funnier issues, like how the new shaman spell Earthquake is "looking awkward."

  • Dungeons and Dragons Online patch 1 released for Update 5

Patch 1 for Dungeons and Dragons Online Update 5 dropped this morning, clearing up a long list of problems that have plagued the game since Update 5 arrived. Issues large and small were taken care of, including several things that players have been dealing with since Update 5 released in the first place. Fog of War, for example, has been resetting immediately upon leaving an area. This was extremely inconvenient if you left an area for just a minute or two, because you'd come back to a completely black map. Thankfully that's not an issue any more. Guild renown got several fixes, including the return of the small guild bonus, an increase to the renown drop rate for monster kills, a fix to renown decay at level 26, and and adjustment to renown decay at level 26. Those are just a couple of highlights -- the full patch notes are available on the DDO site. Do you know about a problem the patch didn't take care of? Check out the updated Known Issues thread.

  • Patch 3.3.5 known issues

Just released is the initial official list of patch 3.3.5 known issues... and it's a big one. Some of the major highlights: Performing the /eat emote while dancing as a male Blood elf can cause some very unnatural character movement. Pit of Saron - Scourgelord Tyrannus can remount Rimefang during the encounter. The last remaining player in a random instance group can miss out on Random Dungeon loot. Players from different servers can't trade dungeon items necessary to progress through the dungeon. The Twilight Orbs periodically disappear during Phase 2 of the Halion encounter. It is possible for a level 70 to receive the Wrathful Gladiator's Tabard. You cannot get the "Call To Arms" Achievement through the Looking for Battleground feature. Mage Summon Water Elemental does not fully function as a permanent pet when glyphed with Glyph of Eternal Water. It appears that this includes some unfixed bugs that were present in previous patches, such as Tyrannus remounting Rimefang. There is no indication as to when these bugs will get fixed. The complete list after the break.

  • Patch 3.2 Known Issues

Dresorull has just released a list of known issues (unfixed bugs) in Patch 3.2. This patch has its fair share of bugs in it, however from personal experience I think it has a ways to go before it reaches the bugginess level of the patch 3.0.x branch. This laundry list of issues comes after yesterday's first round of in-game hot fixes. Based on previous patches, I wouldn't be surprised to see another round of hot fixes released tonight. Some of the more major bugs in patch 3.2 that are on Dresorull's list include: People are getting stuck in the portals to the Argent Coliseum raids. The Flying Carpet requires 410 tailoring to craft when only 375 is attainable at level 60. A number of items are displaying different textures in 3.2.0 from how they looked in 3.1.3. Master's Inscription of the Crag has not had its MP5 value increased. Some Stormjewels are still unique-equip. Again, these are just current bugs in the patch. These issues have not been fixed yet.The full list of known issues after the break.

  • LotRO, Book 12 and some minor bugs

Don't worry too much, there's nothing wrong with Book 12 that could break your computer or the game. However, there are a couple known issues that are good to know about, in case you happen to encounter them. For instance, one such issue deals with the newly implemented cosmetic systems. If you happen to get your hair cut at a barber, you'll find that while your avatar itself will reflect the new trim immediately -- your character window will not. At least, not until your next login. This is mostly the type of issue that's just confusing more than anything else, but at least now you know that you're not going crazy from playing all the new content. There are several other minor issues, which are all worth glancing at just in case you're encountering some new quirks during your time in-world.

  • Patch 2.4 known issues

More 2.4 news for all of you to consume. Our friendly master of the PTR forums, Hortus, has posted a list of known issues on the PTR. I'm sure the list will grow longer, but in brief here are some major points: Watch out for corruption of your World of Warcraft files if you use a Mac! This is a major issue for some people. Indeed yours truly would have been up the creek if I used my Mac's firewall feature (I've got a Linux firewall instead). All you Mac users: please, be careful! When you rename a Hunter pet you get disconnected. The Hunter ability Auto Shot can get locked out if you use an instant ability after Steady Shot. Looting Bind on Pickup items isn't working right. So watch out if you're starting to raid. Shattrath wasn't copied over correctly. Many NPCs (besides those listed in the blue post) are missing. Blues also have posted an update of sorts on the character copy queues. They've said we're all going to have to wait a couple days to get our characters copied over if they're not already. At least some news is better than no news.WoW Insider is your source for all the patch 2.4 news! Check back with us often for the latest.

  • Update to Book 11 tips

Lord of the Rings Online officials have clarified their Housing abandonment policy. Earlier today we reported that abandoning a house will leave it unavailable for purchase for 24 hours. Community Manager Patience clarified that players are the ones with the 24 hour lock out on purchasing. How long it takes for Housing to become available after abandonment is now unclear, but may be as little as 12 hours.Patience also clarified that new Housing instances spawn in sets of 3-5 and the practice of buying and abandoning houses will not get them to spawn any faster. We also found another great resource for patch goodness, LotRO Vault's Patch Tree. They are posting screenshots of new items, NPCs, places, etc introduced in today's Book 11 update, including the image above of the new birch trees players can buy to decorate their new Hobbit homesteads. Also, keep an eye on the Known Issues for Book 11 thread over on the official LotRO forums. Some early bugs have already been identified.

  • Known 2.1 issues (and a few more besides)

The realms are down this morning for "scheduled maintenance," and in the meantime, here's a list of what's wrong (and hopefully what's being fixed right now). Blizz QA guy Hortus has posted a list of known issues in 2.1, and I've included it in full after the break. Most of these are pretty inconsequential and/or already known, but a few of them might cause confusion (I had the "grayed out" icon thing happen to me just last night-- the spell looked like it was unavailable, but I could still use it). They all seem easy enough to fix, and so hopefully when the realms go back up today, we won't see them again.Strangely enough, there's no mention of the Hunter bug/feature at all, so Blizzard still hasn't confirmed that one officially (or maybe hunters liked using it so much they just didn't want to report it). And though Neth has confirmed the Spellthread nerf as a bug, it's not on this list either. I guess we'll have to see what drops this morning-- we could get a small post-2.1 patch, or maybe we'll have to wait for further hotfixes to see any of these bugs squashed.
