It would be hard to find two more disparate musical acts to combine into one blast of DLC, seeing how The Edgar Winter Group did everything it could to broaden the horizons of rock music, while Korn has done everything it can to narrow them back down. This week's update includes two iconic singles from both bands, one of which will be a blast from the past for anyone familiar with Harmonix's back catalogue. Both Edgar Winter Group tracks support keyboards, as one would hope.

Silent Hill: Downpour was always going to be scary; this we knew. What we didn't know was that it would be 90s quasi death metal turned Christian rock band scary. The latest trailer straight out of Tokyo Game Show gives us a look at the atmosphere in Downpour, accompanied by the tonal tunage of Korn. Downpour is the first Silent Hill game to not include music by Akira Yamaoka, and is instead composed by Jonathan Davis Daniel Licht, the man behind the music of Dexter.

For the best, most immersive experience in Silent Hill: Downpour, you may need to expand your set of home entertainment accoutrements. You'll need a pair of 3D glasses to take advantage of the game's newly announced stereoscopic 3D support, as well as impenetrable ear plugs to withstand the game's exclusive theme song -- provided by nu-metal band Korn. Tentatively titled "Silent Hill," the song is pitched as "a perfect complement" to game's soundtrack, which is the first to be created by Dexter-ous composer Dan Licht. If the departure of former franchise composer Akira Yamaoka drove you into a murderous rage, a Korn-fed substitution might just compel you to sign a petition. (Oh yes, that's already happening.)

Aside from announcing the first three Beatles albums to be released as DLC for upcoming tear-jerker The Beatles: Rock Band, MTV Games and Harmonix today revealed intentions to bring the Rock Band DLC count to 1,000 songs by this holiday. At the current rate Harmonix is releasing songs for the franchise -- without factoring in the Rock Band Network -- that's roughly 500 songs per year.Additionally, the companies have revealed a number of the artists that will be contributing to the holiday goal, including Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, and The Raconteurs, as well as the ever elusive "and more." You can always find out what new tracks are coming to Rock Band as DLC (and what's on the way) by using our Rock Band Weekly feature.%Gallery-27156%

  • WoW Moviewatch: A.D.I.D.A.W.

Some days, it's a little slow in the world of WoW machinima. Other days, I log in to my email and find out we're starting the week with a Baron Soosdon machinima. Which is, frankly, awesome. The good Baron got a tip about this song from his YouTube activity. He was drawn, motivated, and compelled to create a signature machinima for it. Thus was A.D.I.D.A.W. born. After hearing the music, how could you not empathize with the frenzied, holy compulsion to put gnome-to-screen for this song? The song in A.D.I.D.A.W. is a take-off from Korn's A.D.I.D.A.S.. This musical re-creation is the brainchild of the band Electric Sex Pants. And, man, they really do hit the sweet spot for lyrics. All day I do, in fact, dream about WoW. I admit I've not been into scream metal for a while, but these guys just "did it" for me.The video story itself is pretty awesome. I don't want to give it away, because the action is totally worth the watch. I'll summarize as best I can. Some horde are mistreating gnomes, in a wide variety of ways. But at the end, the song ends, and the abuse stops. Then, a little revenge comes their way. (No pun intended.) The graphics and animation are all clean and sharp. The action is easy to follow, and instilled with enough "whoah, cool" to make you want to reroll a Gnome. As always, I'm thankful to the Baron for continuing the people's revolution, making gnomes cooler and cooler every day.You can find multiple options for a video stream at the good Baron's blog.If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ..

You haven't heard? Korn has a new song for the upcoming PS3 FPS, Haze. (Haven't seen it? Watch it here.) Surprisingly, the interview is very mellow, and goes into how the band was "inspired" by money the game's unique story of revenge.

  • Korn's Haze-inspired music assaults our ears

We were initially indifferent when first told of nu metal rockers Korn's vocal enthusiasm for Haze, or as vocalist Jonathan Davis so eloquently calls it, "the shit." However, after now exposing our ears to the band's Haze-inspired title track, we can't help but hope that the aural assault will be kept at an absolute minimum once Ubisoft pushes the game from out of the mist. The two and a half minute scream session not withstanding, the video does show off a bevy of CG and gameplay for Free Radical's overly-yellow shooter, which is currently circled -- in pencil mind you -- on our calender for release around May 20 or so, which should be right around the time our ears stop ringing.

There's nothing like the sound of hard rock in the morning to wake you up from your half-asleep haziness that is the "every morning ritual." You wake up, go to the bathroom, consume your corn-based cereals -- the usual. But this morning is different. Today, you awaken to the sound of Korn's Haze single, a song inspired by the upcoming Haze game. Enjoy the ear-ache inducing noise; it might pump you up for the rest of the day. Perhaps a little too much, so you might want to take some nectar along to calm you down.

Leaving behind thoughts of the nightmare that was our last Game with Fame attention whores, we're happy to spread word that musical group Korn's own Jonathan Davis will be jumping on Xbox Live to participate in some Halo 3 frag fun. Best thing, he's actually famous. As it's planned, Davis will be playing Halo 3 online on Wednesday, February 27th from Noon - 2:00PM eastern, but the catch is that he'll be gaming from Lisbon, Portugal. So, North American fanboys, be weary of the evil lag-monster. Shoot a friend request to gamertag "KORN Jonathan1" and hunker down Wednesday night, because we have a feeling a whole bunch of Korn will be popped (zing!)

  • Korn rocks out original track for Haze

Ubisoft's Haze is still a month away, for the PS3 at least, but that has not stopped the band Korn from being "inspired" by Free Radical's sci-fi FPS, prompting the nu metal rock group to record an original track for the game. The single, creatively titled "Haze," will debut over radio, television, and download sites in November alongside the game's release, meaning even your non-gaming friends could be banging their heads to Haze marketing material in the near future. Take pictures. Korn's vocalist Jonathan Davis is said to be a major driver behind the collaboration, which makes sense given his apparent passion for games. He once worked on a PS2 fighting game called Pop Scars that aimed to pit celebrities like Mary J. Blige and Marilyn Manson against each other, but this project was eventually canned by Davis in 2004. This setback did not dampen the rocker's spirits, however. Said Davis, "Gaming for me is a religion and Haze is the shit!...I had to come up with a track that can hit up that kind of rush I get from the game and I think we really rocked it!!" We share your enthusiasm for games, but I think we speak for everyone when we say 'stop shouting!' Please.

  • Korn, while on Nectar, record song out of Haze love

Most American music listeners know of the band Korn. Some remember the highlights of their career, like appearing on South Park and the hilarious antics that ensued. Whether or not you like their music, Korn has made video game buzz today by recording a song they say was "inspired by" the upcoming shooter Haze. The song's launch is going to coincide with the game's release, so you know it's a little more than inspiration on the band's part. Conspiracy theorists, unite! The song, entitled "Haze", will act as a "testament to the synergy possibilities between music and video games, which often share the same audience," says Ubisoft's Christian Salomon. Also speaking out is Korn's singer Jonathan Davis, who rehearsedly exclaimed "Gaming for me is a religion and Haze is the shit! I had to come up with a track that can hit up that kind of rush I get from the game and I think we really rocked it!!" The double exclamation marks are, of course, to emphasize how much the band "rocked it". Well, take it however you like, but it seems the marketing train for Haze is underway. But will it pay off?
