SOE has plucked Oliver Queen from the mean streets of Star City and plunked him down in DC Universe Online's Legends PvP mode. That's right, you can now fight as Green Arrow and if you're keeping score at home, this release marks the first time a bow user has been made available for Legends play. You can see Green Arrow in action via a recent SOE livestream that we've embedded past the cut. [Source: SOE press release]

So I tried to log in for my DC Universe Online fix this morning, only to be greeted with a hanging connect screen and an urge to Hulksmash my keyboard. After my DC fan card was revoked, I remembered that it's patch day, and SOE has said to expect a five-hour down period to pave the way for Game Update 21. When the game comes back, there should be a new PvP map, though the Inner Sanctum is only playable if you've purchased the Hand of Fate DLC (or if you're a subscriber/Legendary member). The devs are also adding a handy auto-loot feature and a number of tweaks to missions, alerts, challenges, and more. Full details are available via the patch notes.

DC Universe Online is getting ready for its fifth DLC pack, Hand of Fate. Along with utility belt attachments, new operations in the open areas of Gotham City and Metropolis, and new side quests, Hand of Fate will be bringing Doctor Fate and Felix Faust to Legends PvP. These inimitable fellows will bring sorcery to the Legends PvP character pool, and change things up with the ability to summon pets and minions. While not quite so offensively aggressive as other characters, these characters focus on a control-based, tactical approach to gameplay. Skip below the cut to get a shiny video introduction to heroic Doctor Fate and nefarious Felix Faust.

We've been hearing about DC Universe Online's Last Laugh DLC pack for a while now. Fortunately for fans of diabolical supervillains everywhere, launch day is finally here. The pack represents the largest PvP content update since DCUO's release, and it also puts the Joker on center stage as the key figure in a "criminally twisted new storyline." If that's not enough to whet your whistle, Last Laugh also features new shield powers, safe house battles, headquarters battles, and legends characters including Power Girl, Ursa, Bizarro, and various Lantern and Sinestro notables. Last Laugh is free for legendary players or $9.99 for free and premium members. You can download it via the PlayStation Network or the in-game marketplace. [Source: SOE press release]

DC Universe Online's fourth DLC pack is on the way. As you're probably aware, it's called Last Laugh, but what you may not know is that it's focused on PvP. New iconic characters are making their way to the game's Legends mode, including DC stalwarts like Power Girl and Amon Sur. Up to this point, much of Legends PvP has focused on what creative director Jens Andersen terms the Bat family. Characters like Batman, Bane, Two-Face, Robin, and the Joker are all mainstays. Now, though, players can step into the tights of both Kryptonian and Lantern heroes, and they can do so on the new Fortress of Solitude Legends map. That's not all, of course, but you'll need to head to Games Radar for more details plus a nifty video.
