  • Linkin Park's 'remixable' music video created in Project Spark

Musical group Linkin Park is now one step closer to the world of video games thanks to Project Spark developer Team Dakota. The developer created a "remixable" music video for Linkin Park's "Guilty All The Same" in Project Spark, which includes an audio remix station so players can build anything they want in the level. Project Spark is a robust game creation tool currently in beta for PC and Xbox One. The "Guilty All The Same" level isn't the first time an interactive game experience was built around an existing piece of music. Just last month, Radiohead launched an experimental iOS and Android app called PolyFauna for imagery and sounds from its song, "Bloom." Microsoft opened Project Spark's beta version to all Xbox One owners this month and also removed the game's Spark Time microtransactions. [Image: Linkin Park]

Apple has announced dates for this year's iTunes Festival London. Like last year, the festival will run every night in July. Sixty artists will be performing over thirty-one days at Camden's Roundhouse in London. Three of the confirmed bands are Linkin Park, Duran Duran and Rumer. As in years past, tickets to the shows are only available for free via competitions. Apple will be giving away a limited number of tickets for each showing. The entry form for the competition can be found here. Participants may apply for as many of the gigs as they'd like but are limited to the three confirmed bands for now. Those who can't make the festival should still be able to watch highlights, read the latest news and see behind-the-scenes photos on the event's Facebook and Twitter pages as they did in years past. Apple has also set up an official Ping page for the concert this year. All performances will also be recorded and sold on the iTunes Music Store worldwide.

The first track pack from nu-metal group Linkin Park, featuring six songs from across the band's discography, will come to Rock Band 3 on January 11 for $10. All the pertinent details for next week's DLC release can be found just below the break. You'll note the selections differ from the newer ones available in Guitar Hero, so if you want to play as many Linkin Park songs as possible, you'll need to indulge both video game rhythm rivals.

  • Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock gets KISS-mas Track Pack

KISS-mas? That's a bit of a stretch, isn't it? Regardless, a trio of KISS tunes for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, including "Rock and Roll All Nite," "Detroit Rock City" and "Calling Dr. Love," will be available today on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii for $5.50 (440 MS Points). The songs will also be available individually for $2 apiece. If you're still feeling a little PECK-ish for music DLC (okay, that was a stretch), Linkin Park adds remixes of "The Catalyst (Does It Offend You, Yeah? Remix)," "When They Come For Me" and "Pts.OF.Athrty" to DJ Hero 2. The pack will cost 640 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360, $7.99 on PS3 and be sold individually at 300 Wii Points each on Nintendo's console.

  • Upcoming DJ Hero 2 DLC dares to mix Funky Cold Medina

Activision has announced three more weeks' worth of DJ Hero 2 DLC. And, in keeping with the concept of the game, it's a pretty eclectic mixture. Today, you'll be able to download a track mixing The Pixies' "Debaser" and The Prodigy's "Invaders Must Die," and a track that combines the Beastie Boys' "Body Movin'" with Lenny Kravitz's "Rock and Roll Is Dead." Well, is it dead or is the body movin'? On December 14, an "Old Skool" pack will include combinations of the Fat Boys and Mantronix, Tag Team and 45 King, and Beastie Boys with Tone Loc. We're a bit worried about that last one, as we'd be terrified of the side effects after changing the composition of the Funky Cold Medina. It's volatile on its own! On December 21, the promised Linkin Park remix DLC will be available. We're listin' all the DLC after the break.

You're seething with angst that can only be expressed through rap-rock. Activision completely understands. That's why the company is releasing a six-pack of songs from Linkin Park's new "A Thousand Suns" album (cover image above) on October 19 as Guitar Hero DLC. In addition, a set of three remixed Linkin Park songs will be available this winter in DJ Hero 2. If you'd like to hear the rest of that album, you can get a free copy with orders of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock or DJ Hero 2 from Amazon, between "12:01am PST on October 17 and 11:59pm PST on October 23." This is the second free album to be bundled with Warriors of Rock! In the future, our entire music library will consist of freebies from Activision.

Hey, Linkin Park slash shooting game fan, you look like you're just about to break. Good thing, then, that nu-metal band Linkin Park and EA have worked out a deal for the first single from forthcoming album "A Thousand Suns" to be featured in a trailer for Medal of Honor, which debuted this morning. As you might imagine, "The Catalyst" is said to be part of the game's soundtrack. You'll find the trailer embedded after the break, which, oddly, was directed by Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn. Also, it's mostly live-action, so you might not want to bring the kids around to see this one.

  • The retro-style Linkin Park iPhone game you've always wanted

Nu-metal band Linkin Park is craaaaaaaawwling into an 8-bit skin for a bizarre new iPhone game. Called Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion, the app is a side-scrolling fighter with social networking features in which players, in customizable chibi avatars, assist a retro-styled Linkin Park in fighting an evil corporation. Along the way, you can unlock both original and chiptune versions of Linkin Park songs, including one unreleased track. This game is absolutely baffling -- for example, some of the characters are 8-bit, while others are relatively high-resolution caricatures for some reason. An even more baffling aspect: it's a video game about, and designed with, Linkin Park.

Inspired by Noah Kalina, the Brooklyn photographer that took his picture every day for six and a half years, DerangedTaco captured a photo of his Warlock every time he changed gear. The resulting timelapse is a journey from roughly level 20, all the way up to level 70. He worked his way from level 70 blues, and then progressed into S1 and S2 items. Due to the upcoming release of Wrath of the Lich King, he doesn't plan to get anymore upgrades, but the video is still pretty interesting! If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

  • Ultimate Band getting charity concert venue, Linkin Park love

While there's no shortage of games designed to keeping you humming songs in your head until all you want to do is scream, there's only one that will give you the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from giving back. That game is Ultimate Band, as publisher Disney today linked up with Linkin Park's non-profit, Music for Relief, to help raise awareness of disaster victims and global warming by letting players rock out from the safety of their living rooms. Sure, it might not be the most altruistic alliance, but Wii rockers can nonetheless look forward to lending their rhythm-keeping talents during a Music for Relief charity concert, which has been added as an in-game venue. Curiously, only the Wii version was mentioned in the announcement, though a DS version of Ultimate Band is also planned. The game will also make a featured appearance during Linkin Park's own Projekt Revolution 2008 tour, kicking off this week in Burgettstown, PA, though we're not sure a game featuring the music of The Who and Devo is exactly poised to rock nu metal fans out of their fishnet socks.

  • Linkin Park performed "secret show" for iTunes Live session

According to Billboard, Apple hosted a "secret show" at 12a this morning at the Apple SoHo Store in New York. Un-named sources say that the set was recorded, most likely for an iTunes Live session that will be released in March on iTunes. "This is the best show in an Apple store we've ever played," said Chester Bennington, who is the lead singer for Linkin Park. This isn't the first time that Apple has hosted in-store concerts for their iTunes Live Sessions; as you may recall, Thurston Moore, Kaki King, The New Pornographers, and many others have all played live for Apple. However, Linkin Park is the most well-known band to play in the SoHo Store.

Reader Sebastiaan sends word that Fuzzmeasure Pro 3 is out (and that he designed the icon for it-- very nice). Released on the three-year anniversary of the first version's release, the update has a host of new features, including integration with Leopard's Core Audio, the sweet audio graphs that the app is known for, and even Quicklook and Safari plugins. It's been used to set up concert systems for "...Linkin Park and other big name bands around the world." Cool!As you may have guessed from reading "Core Audio" and "Quicklook", Fuzzmeasure Pro 3 is Leopard-only (and loving it). You can download it (and eventually buy it for $150US) over on SuperMegaUltraGroovy's website.

  • Fan hacks Linkin Park singer's phone, caught in the end

We'd be willing to be more than one of you know the likeness of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, but how many among us would go so far as to try to break into his phone? Apparently a 27 year old woman by the name of Devon Townsend used a machine at a Sandia National Lab in New Mexico to gain access to Bennington's Verizon account, and obtained call records and cameraphone shots; apparently she also got access to his wife's email and went so far as to verbally threaten the poor Mrs. Bennington. Like Chappelle before him, we can understand Bennington not wanting someone playing on his phone, but think he should be glad he made it out of this one relatively scot free. Celebs before have faced the wrath and aftermath of leaked sex tapes to leaked A-list phonebooks, so be glad, Chester, that you still have your dignity.
