We're live at Photokina 2010!
Köln. Home to some of the best pommes frites this world has ever seen, and this year, home to Photokina 2010. We're live on the ground in one of Germany's most charming cities, bringing you the latest from the photography world as it breaks. Fujifilm has already kicked things off with a relative bang, and a slew of press events are slated to happen over the next 48 hours. Sony, LaCie, Leica, Panasonic, Fujifilm and Hasselblad are all on deck (with Samsung and Casio already in the bag), and we're expecting plenty more surprises once the show floor opens in earnest tomorrow. Live at Nintendo's NYC Wii press conference
Yeah, so we already know most, if not all, of the gory details, but we're here live in New York for Nintendo's US press conference for the Wii anyway. We'll have updates on the regular, stay tuned!9:20AM EST - Perrin Kaplan is on stage doing an introduction. 9:21AM - Reggie! He walks on, "We will reveal all the relevant information for the Wii." "Today marks our next planned step in driving this industry forward."9:23AM - "Our strategy is based on one core belief: brining gaming back to the masses. It's literally that simple. Appealing to current gamers as well as broadening the market. Four landmarks we've brought to market. Today marks the fifth. The first, the Nintendo DS."9:26AM - "How we changed the user interface, with two screens, voice activated microphone, changed the definition of what a video game could be. 2nd: Introduction of touch-sensitive games. Nintendogs, Brain Age. DS supplements your life instead of replacing it. Is it working? Definitely. New Super Mario Bros. exclusively for DS. Sold to 1M players in less than two weeks. What's driving growth are new players enjoying new types of games. In past four months, New Super Mario Bros. represents 35% of first party sales. Should have something for ya soon ...4:42 - We are sitting down, getting ready to go.4:49 - Everyone's still filing into Stage 15 on the Sony backlot. Everyone's expectant and the mood is generally upbeat. The house lights are on full, so it'll still be a few minutes before anything official starts. In the background, Sony's been playing some hardcore gangsta rap: we note this because Nintendo would never, ever play that music. The rap song (which we failed to identify) was followed by Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean." The music is eclectic, we're hoping the games line up is similarly so.
