All-new dial-in experience! See below -- do not call into Talkshoe, we won't be there. Be sure to set up Fuze Meeting before the show if you want to join in live. Macworld/iWorld 2014 is now a thing of the past, which means two things: first, a lot of the TUAW team members are heading back to their respective homes, and second, it's time to talk about the highlights and lowlights of the conference and expo. Since both Mike Rose and Kelly Guimont may be airborne at 10 PM ET, I'll be sitting behind the mic tonight trying to give you my best impressions of Macworld/iWorld 2014. Join me and whoever else decides to help me out for a fun hour of trying to recollect everything that I saw. Reminder on new-style talkcasting: With some help from the fine folks at Fuze, we're using a new system to record the show. This should let everyone listen in live -- and, if you want, raise your hand as you would in the Talkshoe room to get unmuted and chime in. You can join the call in progress (meeting # is 20099010) at 10 pm ET from any computer via this link; if you download the Mac or Windows Fuze clients ahead of time, you'll get better audio and a slicker experience, but browser-only will work fine. Just click the phone icon to join the audio once you're in. Using an iPhone or iPad? Grab the native clients from the App Store and get busy. (Even Android users can join the party.) Still feel like using the conventional phone dial-in? Just call (201) 479-4595 and enter the meeting number 20099010, then press #. While the Fuze web and native clients have a chat channel, we'd like to reserve that for host participants, requests to talk and other real-time alerts... so the full-on chat tool is good 'ol Chatroll, which is embedded below. You'll need Twitter, Facebook or Chatroll credentials to participate in the chat.

A few years ago at Macworld/iWorld, we had a chance to see the first version of EasyWeb, an OS X app designed to serve as a replacement for Apple's abandoned iWeb. While the app was remarkably complete and easy to use back in those days, it's even more impressive in its latest incarnation and now has a new name -- EverWeb. This short video demonstrates some of the new features of EverWeb while introducing it to readers who may not have heard of the US$79.95 app before. The app now provides a way to create mobile sites for tablet and smartphone viewing, and users can also get one-click hosting from Rage Software (the developers of EverWeb) for an additional fee.

I'm one of those people who sucks as an accountant. So when I heard about Kashoo a few years ago and realized that I could do most of the accounting work for one of my small businesses from an iPad, I jumped on the opportunity to try it out. I dropped by their booth today, and we have a short video description of their service for your viewing pleasure.

You'll see the insides (drive-free) of one of their 180 terabyte storage pods in which the company stores 100 petabytes of data for its customers.

All-new dial-in experience! See below -- do not call into Talkshoe, we won't be there. Be sure to set up Fuze Meeting before the show if you want to join in live. Sunday has once again come upon us, and with it comes another TUAW talkcast! There's breaking "news" tonight courtesy of the Wall Street Journal and "people familiar with the matter," suggesting that Apple and Comcast have engaged in talks to deliver an online TV service with special networking arrangements. We'll discuss that -- but tonight's not just any episode, this one is A Very Special Talkcast. Tonight we have with us a wonderful pair of guests! IDG's Paul Kent, Macworld/iWorld General Manager, has miraculously found an hour in the week before the expo begins to chat with us about the show. Not only is Mister Macworld/iWorld coming by to chat, but we also have a show speaker dropping in: Jean MacDonald, recently of Smile Software, currently of App Camp For Girls, to discuss the App Camp For Girls Open House, happening Saturday morning at Moscone Center. Whether you're coming to the big show in San Francisco (passes still available!) or not, this is a great opportunity to hear from the source what to expect this year. It should be noted that TUAW's own Steve Sande, Doc Rock, Mike Rose & Victor Agreda Jr. will be roaming the expo halls (not to mention yours truly), so we look forward to meeting many of you in person! Reminder on new-style talkcasting: With some help from the fine folks at Fuze, we're using a new system to record the show. This should let everyone listen in live -- and, if you want, raise your hand as you would in the Talkshoe room to get unmuted and chime in. While the Fuze web and native clients have a chat channel, we'd like to reserve that for host participants, requests to talk and other real-time alerts... so the full-on chat for the show will appear in this very post at 10 pm tonight. You'll need Twitter, Facebook or Chatroll credentials to participate in the chat. We'll remind everyone to check back in at that time.

Those of you who are headed -- like us -- to Macworld/iWorld 2014 in San Francisco next week probably got an interesting email today. If you happen to read that email on your iPhone, you'll find a big button that lets you add a pass to Passbook. The email from IDG World Expo says: Macworld/iWorld 2014 is just around the corner! This year you have the opportunity to make your onsite badge experience even easier by adding a pass to Passbook on your iPhone. To do this, simply click on the image below from your mobile device (iOS phone only) and add the pass. When you arrive at the registration area in the Moscone center, an iBeacon will locate your pass and prompt you to scan your phone at one of the express registration scanners. There will also be an iBeacon Scavenger Hunt at this year's show. According to a press release issued today: The theme for the interactive scavenger hunt is "30 Years of the Mac," and through a series of clues found on posters throughout the Expo Hall, participants must find and scan four specific 2d barcodes. When an attendee downloads a beacon-enabled pass and is in range of a Bleu Station iBeacon, a hint will be presented to find the next beacon-enabled pass. Participants who collect all four beacon-enabled passes will receive a three-month free subscription to Macworld Magazine and will be entered into a drawing for a MacMania cruise to the British Isles. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Be sure to get your Passbook pass loaded today, and we'll see you at Macworld/iWorld 2014 next week.

  • Macworld / iWorld 2014 rescheduled to March 27-29

Macworld is reporting that the premiere Apple event for iFans, Macworld/iWorld, has been rescheduled for 2014. Initially, the event had been scheduled for February 1-3, 2014, conflicting with the Super Bowl and moving the schedule to Saturday - Monday instead of the usual Thursday - Saturday timing. Macworld's Lex Friedman broke the news this morning, and said that IDG World Expo will formally announce the date change tomorrow. One other benefit of moving the event to the end of March 2014 is that it gives the expo some distance from CES, which is often just one or two weeks before Macworld/iWorld.
