Atomhawk Design and Lantern Interactive's Kickstarter for its point-and-click adventure game The Realm has failed to reach its goal of £195,000 (about $300,000), but it says the project isn't dead yet. Despite not getting the money it needed, The Realm ended up as one of the top UK-based game Kickstarters to date. Being based in the UK was one of the main issues, however, as users in the United States weren't able to contribute directly due to Kickstarter's funding rules. So Atomhawk and Lantern have decided to relaunch the campaign later on this year, this time from a US-based account. Potential contributors were also asking to see gameplay footage, so that will be a priority next time around. In the meantime, the team asks that anyone interested in getting more updates on the game sign up to a mailing list. "We may not have have won the battle," says The Realm team's post, "but the war is not over yet!"

It seems like the Fallout Online hype-machine is slowly grinding into gear, what with the recent FAQ update and now word of some cryptic new artwork being sent to mailing list subscribers late last week. Destructoid has the scoop on the email blast, which kicked off with a brief textual teaser before leading into the imagery. "There are many stories and many more tall tales about life in the wastelands, this is one of them," read the notice. In addition to artwork like the vista shown above, subscribers were sent images of a letter scrawled by a character named Les, who waxes on about the Menkey Butte Mine and a "Ragskin" named Fast Eddie. Yeah, we can't make sense of it either, but it's a great way for Interplay to pique our collective interest.

Aren Mandala, a Second Life resident into Machinima, has discovered a serious bug that could affect many filmmakers. Joystick flycam is a tool that allows residents to hook up a joystick, specifically a 3dConnexion SpaceNavigator, and detach their camera to fly around. According to his Jira entry, joystick flycam breaks when SL is in fullscreen mode. The flycam is currently in the Debug menu, meaning it is not a Linden Lab-supported feature. The functionality of it makes it an integral part of the SL Machinimist's toolkit, though. Residents have already taken their concerns to the official Machinima mailing list. To weigh in on this issue, please visit the issue's Jira page.[Thanks, Katherine!]
