This video by Baron Soosdon is described on its YouTube page as "not machinima." Of course, the good Baron has the right to say that about any of his work he'd like, but this is still one hell of a gorgeous video. The video is called Depth of Field Wonderland and was created to test out Malu05's machinima tool. The big deal about Malu05's tool is that it allows machinima creators to introduce depth of field to their creations. Depth of field in photography refers to the areas in front of and behind a subject being in varying degrees of focus. By manipulating depth of field, machinimators like Baron Soosdon can create visual excitement and focus in their work. The Baron's work is always outstanding and beautiful. Depth of Field Wonderland shows off both the Baron's talent for visuals and imagery as well as the power of Malu05's tool. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.

(The tool that we are featuring today is a hack for machinima only. Using it could get your account banned by Blizzard. When it is released, use it at your own risk.)One of the highlights of being part of the machinima community is being surrounded by all of these brilliant minds, scripting, creating, and figuring out ways around obstacles in their chosen platform. Mads Lund, better known as Malu05, is currently developing a tool that will literally change the way World of Warcraft machinima is produced. While it is still in alpha testing, it can already zoom, auto-pan in multiple directions, change the size of your avatar, adjust the speed of your movement, time of day, and speed up how the day progresses, detach your camera in spectator mode, and set camera motions that you can go back to. If you're anxious to speed up the production, he is calling for participation in the AutoIt forum. We're not sure how Blizzard will react to this program, but we're jumping for joy![Via #machinima on Quakenet IRC]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

In January 2006, a group of friends, including Dopefish and Malu05, decided to create a community machinima project, Nogg-aholic Collaboration, or NAC, to showcase World of Warcraft in ways that they felt had not been done before. Named after the time period in which it was filmed, February 2006, My Burning Valentine was intended to highlight what NAC was all about, as well as its guidelines. However, the more that they explored the depths of their creativity, the less that they wanted to show off this film!As they continued to add to the guidelines for NAC, the release date was being pushed farther back. In the end, their interest waned, so they closed down the forum and moved on, leaving this video behind as a memory. For further explanation of the project, as well as more clips, check out Dopefish's video page for My Burning Valentine.[Via Warcraftmovies.com]Previously on Moviewatch ...
