It doesn't matter what MMO you play -- you'd had to have been hiding under a rock to not know that the largest MMO PvP battle ever recorded recently took place in EVE Online. For those of us who call New Eden home, the closest many got to the action was pulling up the map, hitting alerts, and marveling at the enormous red blob over LXQ2-T. Thankfully, one thoughtful pilot named riverini captured screenshots of the enormous masses of ships to share with us here on One Shots! I'd note that I am also breaking slightly with format: Not only am I posting all of the images in one post, but you'll find the full-size images linked after the break. With that said, here's rivertini's note: "[Here are] some shots from the epic pew pew that happened in the LXQ2-T; our FC ordered us to align in preparation for the Russian counter assault. The Northern Coalition and the Red Noise Coalition (Russian bloc) tested their prowess in the mother of all space battles." Captured a picture of something epic in your home MMO? In the mood to brag about your accomplishments? Send your screenshots in to us here at oneshots@massively.com along with your name, the name the game, and a description of what we're seeing. We'll post it out here and give you the credit for sending it in to us! %Gallery-85937%

  • Huge patch finally comes to Age of Conan

The servers are down this morning for extra time, allowing a major patch to be applied to Age of Conan. This particular set of changes has been a long time in the testing, going through several iterations on the Testlive server. The new PvP consequence system, however (which includes PvP XP and notoriety) isn't included and is still being tested. The focus on Testlive is still apparently on setting appropriate PvP XP and murder points. We haven't yet seen the promised PvP gear appear on Testlive yet, let alone on Live.In today's patch, among a host of class changes and other crunchy bits, there are a lot of fixes and alterations to massive PvP, which should make a big difference for the players who have reached level 80 and were looking forward to this feature working properly. We're also interested to see new voice acting for a large number of later quests. The sudden silence after Tortage always did strike us as peculiar. Complete patch notes follow after the cut. Having fun in Conan's homeland? Make sure to check out all of our previous Age of Conan coverage, and stick with Massively for more news from the Hyborian Age!

It's time for another round of changes over in Age of Conan, and the Funcom developers have served us up with a hefty bunch, scheduled currently to go live on August 6th. The patch can currently be accessed on the Testlive server. The revised PvP system is also still on Testlive only, along with a level-bumping NPC, so there are plenty of reasons to go and do some intensive testing if you haven't already. Of the classes, Conquerors come in for the most changes, and feedback so far is hesitantly positive. Full notes can be accessed on the Testlive forums; you'll need an AoC forum login. Our collective eyebrows raised at one patch note in particular: 'Due to popular demand, we've forced some of our female Derketo followers to burn their bras.' Yes, this is a reference to that ridiculous censorship debate, only now Funcom are on the offensive. During the lengthy debates in which some players claimed Funcom was censoring the game, the (alleged) inappropriateness of priestesses of Derketo wearing clothes was often brought up as an issue. By the look of it, this won't be an issue any more. Oh, and men get sexy dances, too! What more could we possibly ask for?

The first patch for Age of Conan under the new scheduling has hit the live servers. Along with a healthy portion of quest and NPC bug fixes, the second half of the discussed Necromancer changes have made it in, granting them more splash damage for a couple of their pets, some feat related changes, and the ironing out of a few bugs relating to their spells.Massive PvP also received some updates. Players attacking battlekeeps will now respawn at the front gate of the city, a bug that disabled siege weapons has been corrected, and most notably, a lot of dodgy keep walls that could be walked through have been fixed. This patch does not introduce the major PvP overhaul that everyone has been waiting for unfortunately, and under the new schedule, we'll need to wait another week for the next opportunity. Check out the forums to get a full list of this patch's updates.

  • Age of Conan: The siege warfare is a buggy lagfest

Age of Conan players should think twice about partaking in the lag-ridden siege action this weekend; they're better off waiting until this coming Monday's patch. The naysayers concerns from beta were certified two days ago, when Sinister took part in Age of Conan's first full on siege since the game went live. If you want the quick recap it was buggy and the performance was terrible; however, Funcom deserves kudos for responding as quickly as they did. Unfortunately, the only viable solution at this time is for players to crank down the graphics and wait it out. It's hard to tell from the picture but it shows 0.3 fps and a 3389 ping, with many players reporting similar results on their superior gaming machines. Since Funcom's response a player reported better performance on the second siege averaging about 15 fps on dual 8800 GTs.We'll see if Monday's patch improves the performance or not for all players involved. If you'd like to see some rough footage from the second siege battle Sinister has posted it on their website. (NSFW)

Age of Conan players have started getting to the stage where they can partake in the game's much-hyped "Massive PvP" -- the first battlekeeps are up, and you can be sure that people are all too keen to go and knock them down. However, it seems that the first wave of these epic battles have not gone so smoothly, and not just for any guilds left with a pile of smoking rubble.Funcom has posted on the official forums (with the actual message being penned by Gaute Godager) in the hopes of reassuring the community that the problems that have been experienced with these battles are being looked at. The main issues are identified as those of client performance, and those of content and collision. Client performance is apparently the biggest problem being reported, and even before people started to get into massive PvP, some fixes to do with this have been worked on behind the scenes.
