Comcast adds SNY HD for North Jersey customers
In what has clearly become a breakthrough year for baseball in HD, North Jersey based Mets and Jets fans can rejoice as Comcast is adding SportsNet New York HD just as we expected. Coming to channel 198 for Union, Plainfield, Meadowlands, Jersey City and Northwest-based customers today, and in other markets Thursday, viewers will get every 2008 Mets game in high definition. Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, RCN, DISH Network and DirecTV customers who already had the channel are now encouraged to find other things to fuel their air of superiority, we recommend noting your remarkably luxurious hair, your kid's middle school honor student status, or an above average number of Facebook friends.
SNY to deliver every New York Mets game in HD
While we heard that all 144 Blue Jays games would be aired in glorious high-definition on one channel or another, SNY has just announced that it "will produce every New York Mets regular season game -- in 2008 and beyond -- in high-definition." Previously, SNY had delivered just the home games in HD, but now you won't be forced to rack up those airline miles in order to catch your beloved Mets in something more than SD. The fun gets started when the home team travels down to Florida to take on the Marlins at 4:00PM on March 31st. Of course, you still may want to catch a game at the upcoming Citi Field every now and then -- we can only imagine how 12,000 square feet of HD signage will look in person.[Thanks, Tom D.]
Daktronics plans 12000-square feet of HD signage for Citi Field
Daktronics is continuing its quest to slather all available areas in your local MLB stadium with an HD screen of some type, with the latest target Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. Apparently eschewing the bigger/biggest race for a moment, no word on the size of a specific Godzillatron display, but Mets fans can expect 12,000 total square footage of display technology when installation is completed by August, ahead of the stadium's inaugural 2009 season. The main displays feature Daktronics' HD-X technology and will ensure that the best place to watch the game on TV is at the park itself. In other news about 'dat 'tronics, Bloomberg profiles the company's work on the Cowboys' enormous screen, and more than 18,000 sq ft of displays going into the new Giants-Jets stadium. Update: The Mets also just acquired Johan Santana, so Mets fans can rest assured the next time their team is busy blowing the pennant race, they'll be doing it in a top quality ballpark with one of the game's best pitchers on the mound.
