Developer Most Wanted Entertainment is preparing a new shooter for Ubisoft's staple, Thunder Wolves. Launching during the first quarter on Xbox Live Arcade, PC and PSN.The game features over 30 chopper and weapon combos. There's also a co-op mode, with one person flying the bird and the other shooting every mother-lovin' baddy in sight.Thunder Wolves places players in the cockpit of a war bird with one goal: establish air supremacy. We've gotta imagine "don't run out of fuel" and "don't fly into that building" are close secondary goals.%Gallery-164500%

  • Defenders of Ardania arriving on PC and iPad, console versions planned

Paradox Interactive announced its first iPad game today. Defenders of Ardania is a tower defense game set in the world of Majesty and is planned as the largest multiplatform release for the publisher, arriving on PC and iPad in the summer. PSN and XBLA versions are in the works as well. While the gameplay will be largely familiar for anyone that's played a tower defense game before, developer Most Wanted is hoping its fantasy setting and additional magic powers will help it stand out. Like PSN's Comet Crash, the game can be effectively described as a "tower offense" game, with players needing to not only defend their base, but attack opponents as well. With three different races, 24 different towers and 24 different offensive units, Ardania is certainly one of the more complex additions to the genre. Multiplayer adds a competitive edge to the tower offense concept, with Most Wanted planning support for 2-4 players. It's a fun twist on a well-tested genre, one that we may see on our consoles ... if Microsoft and Sony allow the game onto their services. Check out a trailer after the break.%Gallery-114787%

  • The Expendables: Guns blazing, everything exploding

Following Most Wanted Entertainment's unveiling of Mechanic Master, IGN investigated the Hungarian studio's site and dug up an interesting squad-based shooter in development -- The Expendables. Using the touchscreen, players guide "the world's lamest international private army" through 35 missions, blowing up almost everything in sight. As you can see in the trailer and screenshots, this doesn't look like the most polished game, but the character sprites (and the buzz-saw tractor) definitely have some charm to them. The Expendables actually reminds us of a faster-paced Syndicate. You remember Bullfrog's Syndicate, right? That series was tight. MWE hasn't yet announced whether it has managed to pick up a publisher for the title. We have a feeling that if the studio ever does find one, it will have to find a more useful implementation for the top screen. Not that skulls laughing and machine guns spitting out bullet casings aren't totally awesome.%Gallery-27212%[Via IGN]

Midway has announced a new DS game that should grab the attention of any fan of Dynamix's classic The Incredible Machine series. Mechanic Master from Most Wanted Entertainment follows the same format: solve simple puzzles by stringing together household objects into Rube Goldberg machines. The touchscreen-based game, formerly called Contraptions, also features some items that didn't quite make it into The Incredible Machine, like robots and portals. In addition to 100 premade puzzles, you'll have the ability to assemble your own machines and puzzles and share them over Wi-Fi. There have been a couple other Incredible Machine-alikes on the DS, but this one has one very important difference: it's coming out in October in the U.S.
