<div style="text-align: left;">Aiming to be a one-stop shop for slumber parties and business meetings alike, the <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/moviemate">MovieMate</a> projector from <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/Epson">Epson</a> combines a projector and a DVD player into one easy-to-tote package. It packs HDMI, PC, and Component / RGB inputs, in addition to built-in speakers. There's a handle for easy carrying, and we're glad to report that it's not too heavy. Thankfully, Epson included a mic input for all those crazy karaoke sessions that might happen in the spur of the moment. Unfortunately there were no karaoke tunes on hand for us to test it out to, so we'll just have to take their word that it works like a charm.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">Epson's just announced two new additions to its home theatre lineup which should make your bi-weekly showing of <em>House Party</em> even more of a success than usual. First up, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PowerLiteHomeCinema/">PowerLite Home Cinema</a> 705HD boasts a 720p resolution, a brightness of up to 2,500 lumens, and 1.2x optical zoom. The 705HD is an entry-level <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HDprojector/">HD projector</a>, so its pricing -- $750 -- is a bit less than some other models. The other model the company's outing is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MovieMate/">MovieMate</a> 60, a combo affair housing a 16:9 native resolution-having projector, plus a built-in dvd player and two 10 watt speakers. The projector has a brightness of up to 2,000 lumens. The MovieMate 60 retails for $650 -- and both are available now.<br /></div>

We're not at all pleased by Epson's refusal to reveal the native resolution of its MovieMate 55, but judging by the $699 estimated street price, we'd bet it's no better than 1,024 x 768. At any rate, the 8.4-pound unit is designed more for sleepovers and summer camps than home cinema applications, as it boasts a built-in DVD player rather than a Blu-ray unit (and the resolution to match). You'll also find a pair of 8-watt speakers, 1,200 ANSI lumens, E-TORL lamp and a built-in handle for good measure. Snag one for the youngin' this October at resellers all across the land.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/other-formats/" rel="tag">Other formats</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/epson/" rel="tag">Epson</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/27/epson-releases-moviemate-55-projector-with-built-in-dvd-player/">Epson releases MovieMate 55 projector with built-in DVD player</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 27 Aug 2008 06:06:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Epson/">Epson</a> sure loves to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/07/epson-announces-emp-twd3-projector-with-built-in-dvd-player/">stuff DVD players</a> into its projectors, and while the newest duo has yet to make the jump to HD DVD or Blu-ray, they still look to be the perfect device for those who need movie projection on the go. The MovieMate 50 and MovieMate 72 are reportedly slated to land within a few months, but head on over to the <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/09/07/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/">gallery</a> for an early look at what to expect.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/07/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/">Hands-on with Epson's MovieMate 50 / MovieMate 72 projectors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 01:18:00 EST. To be honest, getting our hands (actually, just the camera) around each of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Epson/">Epson</a>'s forthcoming MovieMate devices proved to be quite challenging, and we got entirely too close to meeting security on unfriendly terms when we tried to whip these bad boys around for some shots of the back. Nevertheless, we coaxed the MovieMate guardians into letting us shoot, so below you'll find a variety of photographs of the MovieMate 50 and MovieMate 72, each of which tout built-in DVD players. The MovieMate 72 actually sports a swiveling bottom that enables the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/projector/">projector</a> itself to rotate, and there's even a few integrated speakers in there for good measure. From what we gathered, each of these should hit the market in a couple months.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/">Hands-on with Epson's MovieMate 50 / MovieMate 72 projectors</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/#386325"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/eppj_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/#386326"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/eppj-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/#386327"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/eppj-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/#386328"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/eppj-(3)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/#386329"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/eppj-(4)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/epson/" rel="tag">Epson</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/07/hands-on-with-epsons-moviemate-50-moviemate-72-projectors/">Hands-on with Epson's MovieMate 50 / MovieMate 72 projectors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 01:18:00 EST. Nah, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Epson/">Epson</a> didn't bother bringing along any <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/22/epson-intros-led-equipped-perfection-v500-flatbed-scanner/">scanners</a> or<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/30/epsons-na102-and-na702-laptops-more-vista-less-battery/"> laptops</a> to CEDIA, but for whatever reason, it seemed to forget half of the projectors we expected to see, too. Nevertheless, the HT-centric flavors were all in attendance, so feel free to <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/09/07/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/">check the gallery</a> out and witness a wall (but regrettably, just one) full of drool-worthy PJs.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/07/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/">Epson's CEDIA booth tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 01:01:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Epson/">Epson</a>'s booth was yet another mid-sized setup that seemed to stretch further up rather than expanding out. As you'd expect, there wasn't a whole heap of goods on the floor with Epson's name on it, but it did have a very sweet demonstration room in the middle for the weary to kick back and get absorbed in a little 1080p. The firm had its projectors split into Pro Cinema, Home Cinema and MovieMate segments, and while the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=PowerLite">PowerLite</a> PJs were all fine and dandy, it was the not-yet-released MovieMates that saw most of our attention. The gallery awaits you...<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/">Epson's CEDIA booth tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/#386281"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/epson-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/#386283"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/epson-(3)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/#386284"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/epson-(4)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/#386285"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/epson-(5)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/#386286"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgethd.com/media/2007/09/epson-(6)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/epson/" rel="tag">Epson</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/projector/" rel="tag">Projector</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/07/epsons-cedia-booth-tour/">Epson's CEDIA booth tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 01:01:00 EST.
