Forgetting the obviously Chocolate-inspired exterior for just a moment (Verizon will be hearing none of that, thank you very much), the LG Muziq is Sprint's latest entry into the booming midrange musicphone market. The EV-DO data, stereo Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD slot, and FM transmitter are all carryovers from the Muziq's most direct predecessor -- the Fusic -- but it's hard to argue that the new model hasn't made huge strides in its visual appeal, losing the aerial and trading up to a glossy black shell. And, oh yeah, the price is down to $99 on contract, too -- an $80 drop from the Fusic's initial go-to-market sticker. Needless to say, for tunes on the cheap, it's a good time to be in the market.%Gallery-4899%

Right on schedule, Sprint has launched its new Muziq flip from LG. No surprises here: $100 (after instant savings, mail-in rebates and 2 year contract) buys you LG's LX570 clamshell with dedicated music controls, A2DP Bluetooth stereo audio, 1.3 megapixel cam, and a weak-azz 64MB MicroSD card (in the box) with room to grow up to 4GB at your own expense. It's also one of a few handsets to feature an FM Transmitter for untethered pumpage of your tunes over the car radio. Of course, it's also Sprint Music Store, Radio, and TV enabled as you'd expect a Sprint media phone to be. Come on, at least you could pretend to be a little excited.[Via PhoneArena]

Shoring up its music-friendly line alongside the UpStage from Samsung, Sprint has announced its "Muziq," the Fusic's spiritual successor from LG. While it'll face some serious musicphone competition from across the CDMA / GSM divide later this week, the Muziq holds its own with some interesting features including an integrated FM transmitter that can send tuneage to any FM radio within ten feet. It also offers up stereo Bluetooth, a microSD slot supporting up to 4GB of expansion (a 64MB card is included in box), 1.3 megapixel camera, and sideloading of DRM-free music via USB. Look for it to hit on July 15 for $99 on contract.
