It's a pretty long trip down memory lane for us to return to ASUS' ultra-thin RT-56U router; last time we saw it was behind plexiglass at CeBIT in March. At long last it's returned to the spotlight, only this time that luminance is provided by the FCC's notorious labs. The dual-band Gigabit Wireless-N device gets just one image -- and given the unflattering angle, we're not quite sure if it's retained that slender figure. The filing is dated October 11 with a 45-day confidentiality agreement and enough references to US sales that we wouldn't be surprised to see it hit stateside retail in the not-too-distant future -- with or without its lean frame.
ASUS' ultra-thin RT-N6U router hits FCC, adherence to diet in question originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 19 Oct 2010 22:36:00 EST. Microsoft's releasing a Wireless N Networking Adapter for the Xbox 360? Get out of town! ... Oh, wait, we've seen it. Constantly. For the last two months. Ah well, let's just all be happy to see it finally appear on US store shelves, putting an end to this sordid saga and supporting 802.11a/b/g/n for a copper Lincoln under $100. As Joystiq reports, the old 802.11b/g model is slowly being shown the curb, with the current stock being discounted at $80 while supplies last.
Heads up, international HD mavens. A kind tipster just alerted us to one TVP HD, a channel that just started broadcasting Olympics coverage and will continue to throughout the 2008 Games. After the spectacle has concluded, it will reportedly morph into a station much like BBC HD. Currently, the channel is available via digital cable in Poland on carriers like Multimedia Polska, Aster and a few other smaller companies that provide HD receivers. We're also told that it'll launch shortly on UPC Cable, ITI's digital satellite platform N and (in trial form) via DVB-T. In somewhat related news, the European version of MTV HD just starting testing yesterday on the Hot Bird satellite, with an expected go-live date sometime in September.

[Thanks, Arsenal]
Filed under: MHD, Cable, Satellite, Sports, New content

TVP HD begins airing Olympics in HD originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 07 Aug 2008 08:35:00 EST. Hold onto your trousers folks, as ITI Neovision's quizzically named N is bringing HD porn to Polish subscribers anytime they want. The service, which is thought to be the first of its kind in Europe, enables customers to select, purchase and view 1080i XXX-rated titles on-demand. According to a local, the first two flicks to surface are Sensual Dolls and Born To Be Sexy, both of which sound like surefire winners if that's what you're into. No word on how pricey each selection will be, but feel free to test the service out and let us know how it shapes up if you're so bold.

[Thanks, Arsenal]
Filed under: Misc, Satellite, New content

ITI Neovision's N brings 1080i porn-on-demand to Poland originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 21 May 2008 03:34:00 EST. Poland's private broadcaster, ITI Group, is going to launch another way for its native people to receive glorious HDTV. The service creatively called "N" (most of lost something in the translation) is going to offer subscribers a wide range of programming that must be lacking in Polish HDTV offerings. There are some analysts that are wondering if the country needs another HDTV provider but we say, the more the merrier.

HDTV invades Poland...again originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 09 Oct 2006 12:46:00 EST. With a variety of coloring known as "Wenge brown -- a creamy, coffee-color made to resemble wood furniture," and claims that "these new notebooks are designed to accent your interior design, as well as your life," you know it's going to be good. Sony is aiming their new Vaio N Series line of mid-tier laptops at the fashionista set, and while they aren't incredibly forthcoming on specs, we're sure these laptops will look good doing whatever they've got the juice to do. Starting at $1,000, the N Series models feature 15.4-inch displays, Core Duo processors (in the top-end at least) and a dual-layer DVD burner, along with the usual Sony frills like a Memory Stick reader, i.LINK port and ExpressCard slot. There's also 802.11a/b/g WiFi, and while we're not so sure about graphics options, Sony does claim that select models are Vista Premium ready, so we've got that going for us. The N Series ships next month, and Sony should be taking pre-orders starting today.

Sony unveils new Vaio N series of fashion laptops originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 13 Sep 2006 09:45:00 EST.
