The Internet has made it easy to find cheats for games, but we miss the tips pages from game magazines, when the discovery of a new code could inspire you to go back to an old game. These codes aren't exactly new, but oldness is the essence of the Virtual Console! We're bringing back the classic codes every week on The VC Advantage. We were inspired to talk about some Turbografx-16 games again this week when we remembered one of our favorite secrets ever: the secret Dungeon Explorer ending. We aren't sure if we ever finished the game the real way; the secret ending is so much funnier and more awesome than any "straight" ending could be. We don't want to spoil it for you, because you should experience it for yourself. But we couldn't do the whole post about Dungeon Explorer (well, we could), so we decided to throw some codes for a couple more role-playing-esque Turbografx-16 games in, specifically, the Neutopia games, which you were under strict orders from Dave not to download.

This week wasn't the best as far as Virtual Console content goes, but we managed to still bring forth a video wrap-up on the day's games, despite our lack of enthusiasm to do so. Oh well, at least we got Sonic 3, right?

We know at least one person who would probably approve of this week's European VC lineup ... but you're the one who matters. It's all old school this week, with two NES titles and one from Turbografx, just to mix it up a little. So kick back, relax, mix up the beverage of your choice, and enjoy a little classic gaming quality time. You know you want to play futuristic pool! Especially when it was previously announced and couldn't be bothered to actually show up. Lunar Pool -- NES -- 500 Wii points Neutopia -- Turbografx -- 600 Wii points Wrecking Crew -- NES -- 500 Wii points

Hudson keeps delivering excellent games to the VC, to the delight of people who enjoy spending $6 on something awesome. In the final Virtual Console Monday of July, Data East's Drop Off will be featured. August brings us Cratermaze, which is a maze game that's part Pac-Man and part Lode Runner: you can dig holes to trap the monsters chasing you as you grab treasure from around the maze. Neutopia is a competent, nice-looking Zelda clone, and we mean that as praise. Galaga '90 is a brilliant Galaga sequel that features the same kind of shooting action, but in a very pretty cartoony style and with weird new enemies.
