Last month, we were thankful that the torrent of games had slowed considerably. Now here in July, we ... well, could the games come back please? Sure we've got Dragon Quest IX and StarCraft 2, but pickings are, otherwise, fairly slim. Maybe PSN and the Summer of Arcade will fill in the gaps? Here's hoping. %Gallery-96975%

June has begun and that means summer is just three weeks away. The birds are chirping, the sun couldn't be brighter, and the neighborhood is positively caked with the smell of steaks on the grill and the sounds of children playing. We know, we're terrified too. Thankfully, you can take refuge in a full slate of games arriving this month, from Alpha Protocol to APB. We've collected the most notable in a gallery below, so close those curtains, crank the AC and start clicking. %Gallery-94082%

There are some promising releases bookending May, like Lost Planet 2 and Modnation Racers, but the show stopper has to be May 18, which will mark the arrival of a ton of heavy hitters like Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Oh, and let's not forget the return of Planet Earth's favorite plumber. If you're ready to start planning your buying strategy, you can flip through our gallery here. %Gallery-92231%

After an unprecedented rush of Q1 releases, April is actually looking a little more like itself in 2010. There are a couple of big titles, your Splinter Cell: Convictions and your Super Street Fighter IVs, but it looks like, by and large, your wallets may get a slight reprieve until May. Enjoy it while it lasts. %Gallery-89548%

This is the new way things are, and you've got to adjust or die. It's March, and you're getting games like Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III and Command & Conquer 4. Truly, it's a glut of electric pleasure, but it's also a little more financial strain then you're likely used to this time of year. Will you be able to withstand the torrential downpour of pleasure? It may be the shortest month in terms of days, but February is no slouch when it comes to new releases. We've got plenty of heavy hitters including BioShock 2, Heavy Rain and Dante's Inferno. You know, we heard it a lot when games kept getting delayed out of fall of 2009, but we think the reality is finally dawning on us just now: There will never again not be new games. We're not sure we can handle it, frankly. %Gallery-84385%

Traditionally, this is the time of year when we'd be able to put our feet up and savor the calm after the Q4 storm. But in 2010/Two-Thousand-and-Sin/ZOLO, we're stuck with a month of completely decent releases. We've always begged the industry to release games throughout the year, but never stopped to consider the terrible cost: More work for us. Check out the infuriatingly decent list and plan your purchasing strategy. %Gallery-81403%

Take a deep breath. You feel that filling up your lungs? That's freedom. It's the freedom to not have to worry about the ever-growing onslaught of purchaseables for the first time in months. Yes, there are still a handful of decent releases, but it would seem that the worst/best is over. We don't know about you, but we're happy that we'll finally have time to play games rather than just buy them. %Gallery-79530%

While there are still a few games that you'll want to purchase, this is one of the mildest Novembers we can remember. Why, there's hardly anything you'll have to have after you pick up Assassin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age: Origins and ... oh who are we kidding? No one's wallet is getting out of here alive. Start your holiday shopping list right here. %Gallery-77046%

The autumnal onslaught continues, but its efforts to overwhelm us have redoubled this month. Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend on the same day? What do they think we are? Game-playing machines? (No, not Billy Mitchell. Like, literal game-playing machines.) The big releases, like the aforementioned titles and Forza 3, are dropping every week, so how badly will your wallet be bruised?%Gallery-74820%

It seemed like such a great promotion at the time: "Justin, be the reviews editor, it'll be great! We haven't done reviews before so the bar couldn't be lower!" And they were right, it couldn't have been an easier gig. For the months after I started in February, I would dash off the occasional review about the occasional interesting release, my time never too taxed to preclude my evening constitutional or spinning classes. But oh, folly! Oh hubris! How had I forgotten that for every spring and summer of idle relaxation, there's an autumnal retribution? Come, my friends, stare with me into the fanged, gaping maw of ... September. %Gallery-71385%

If the New Games This Month feature were a car it would have already broken down on the side of the road, its tank depleted of the steady stream of exciting new releases it needs to function. Now, after months of this abuse, we're just sort of leaning against it as cars zoom by, our thumbs half extended, hoping -- but never really expecting -- for some kind motorist to pick us up and give us a ride to mid-September.But hey, at least there's Madden and Batman!%Gallery-69370%

We're just gonna come right out and say it: July 2009 may be the worst month for new retail releases ever. Unless you like 2D fighters that is, because in that case, it's awesome. Or games about movies about hamsters, those two groups are being really well serviced. If you haven't fully prepared yourself for the horror, we'd suggest you gird your mind with all the reason and clarity you can muster before continuing on.%Gallery-67292%

It's a new month of game releases, and ... well at least they're not as bad as April. If you head out to your local electronic game emporium tomorrow, try to savor the experience. Soak in the garish ads imploring you to trade in your DSi for a new DS that's coming out soon. Absorb the smells of the guy who's been wearing those navy sweatpants for so long they've become fused to his translucent, gelatinous waist. Because after a promising first week, April takes a sharp left turn towards "Who cares?"We could tell you more, but we assume you're anxious to start clicking. Away!%Gallery-49371%

Huh, well, this is a strange one. With very few (very undead) exceptions, this isn't a great month to be a gamer on the 360 or PS3. But if you're a Nintendo fan, you've got a lot to look forward to. A new Pokemon, MadWorld and the return of Ready 2 Rumble are just a few of the treats you can anticipate in March. For your convenience, we've collected all the month's big releases in one big, easy to peruse gallery. ... After a few false alarms, we think it's safe to say that video game releases are finally, blessedly back in full force. Sure, February 2009 may not have the bombast of a November or December 2008, but there are some perfectly respectable releases here.Enjoy clicking through all the month's delights, and be sure to let us know in the comments which ones you're looking forward to the most.%Gallery-43661%

Well, we're past the worst of the holiday blitz, and we've come out on the other side with only minor cuts and bruises. But though Prince of Persia may be the major release this month, there are still a few possible gems, including Rise of the Argonauts and Persona 4.Also, with increased wiggle room, we've been able to add a few titles just for our own enjoyment. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on our part, but November actually seems like it'll be a little bit easier on the pocket book than last month. Even if you count the biggies like Resistance 2 and EndWar that already hit us this week, it's still less taxing than October. Don't get the wrong impression though, your rent is still going to go unpaid for the second month in a row.As always, we ask that you take a look through the list and let us know which of the releases you'll be picking up.[Update: We've made a few additions, thanks to everyone for pointing out the MIA titles.]%Gallery-36154%
