If your cable company hasn't offered <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork">NFL Network</a> so far, keep an eye out, as the league's station and the National Cable Television Cooperative are opening it and NFL Redzone up to the co-op's members. The group claims 17 of the 20 largest cable companies in the country as it's members (including Suddenlink, Cablevision, Cox, GCI and more -- but not Time Warner), so while it's not a straight shot to seeing this channel in your guide, the option is out there so call your provider if you're interested.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/21/nfl-network-redzone-channel-could-be-coming-to-more-cable-compa/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NFL Network, Redzone Channel could be coming to more cable companies</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/21/nfl-network-redzone-channel-could-be-coming-to-more-cable-compa/">NFL Network, Redzone Channel could be coming to more cable companies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 21 Aug 2010 19:58:00 EST. Happy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/canada/">Canada</a> Day everyone, usually we just skip right on by to our own Independence Day but we're giving our up north neighbors props since their football is coming our way this summer, and in high definition. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork">NFL Network</a> announced it is airing 14 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cfl/">Canadian Football League</a> games in 2010, starting tonight with a monster Montreal Alouettes / Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup. Of course, we have no idea if that's a big game or not, but it is a rematch of last year's Grey Cup championship game. After tonight's debut, there will be three Saturday night games before things come back on Fridays in September. Take this time to read up on the rules (12 men per side? insanity) and the crazy wide field those Canucks play ball on over on the Shutdown Corner -- we'll see you at 7 p.m.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/01/nfl-network-brings-summer-football-canadian-style/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NFL Network brings summer football, Canadian style</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/01/nfl-network-brings-summer-football-canadian-style/">NFL Network brings summer football, Canadian style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 01 Jul 2010 15:59:00 EST. Add another use to the high definition scoreboards and displays liberally spread throughout every sports stadium these days, since the NFL announced its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/redzone">NFL Redzone channel</a> will be shown during games. Replacing the NFL Films highlights package, fans at the game can see teams inside the 20 somewhere else as they happen. The RedZone channel has been an excellent addition for sports viewers at home, we'll see if it's enough to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/15/poll-do-you-prefer-your-sports-live-or-in-hd/">lure people away from their couch and the big screen to the stadium</a> with its "real game atmosphere" and $10 beers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/04/nfl-redzone-channel-to-be-aired-in-stadium-during-games/">NFL Redzone Channel to air in stadiums during games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 04 Jun 2010 13:23:00 EST. We'd heard that the NFL would be bringing the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/nfl-bringing-redzone-channel-to-phones-next-season/">RedZone channel to phones</a> this season, and it looks like Verizon was the highest bidder: NFL Mobile will launch on Big Red next month with the draft, complete with live streaming video of the event, on-demand video analysis from NFL Network, a pick-by-pick draft tracker, and other content. Once the season starts, customers will get RedZone, live streams of Sunday night and Thursday night games, on-demand video highlights and analysis, live home and away radio broadcasts, fantasy info, and the usual nasty ringtones and graphics. That's a ton of content, <strike>and it certainly makes Sprint's NFL package seem a little light in comparison</strike> -- we'll have to see what pricing is like and what devices this'll run on closer to launch, however. Bring on the draft!<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> We just confirmed that NFL Mobile will be exclusive to Verizon for the next four years, which means Sprint customers are out of luck. Verizon paid a pretty penny for the rights: the Wall Street Journal <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704869304575110180782484198.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_sections_tech">values the deal at $720 million</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/09/nfl-mobile-comes-to-verizon-with-livestreaming-redzone-channel/">NFL Mobile comes to Verizon with livestreaming RedZone channel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 09 Mar 2010 10:09:00 EST. We love the NFL in HD, and have often wondered why we've paid $300 for the NFL Sunday Ticket in HD, and then spend 90 percent of the time watching the RedZone Channel. So you can imagine how excited we were to hear that thanks to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/the-nfl-and-directv-extend-exclusive-sunday-ticket-through-2014/">NFL renegotiating its contracts with DirecTV</a>, Fox and CBS; that the RedZone channel would be available to every provider in the US instead of just to DirecTV Sunday Ticket subscribers. But the more we learn about the new channel, the more annoyed we felt. There is just something fundamentally wrong about a full time cable channel that only broadcasts 119 hours out of the 8760 hours a year. This is especially true when you realize that this is the very same 119 hours a year when the existing NFL Network broadcasts almost nothing at all. There simply is no other reason then pure greed to have two separate NFL channels. So as much as we'd love to enjoy this channel during the season, we completely respect all the providers out there refusing to sign a carriage deal -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/19/nfl-and-comcast-reach-agreement-nfl-network-switches-to-digital-c/">Comcast is the only one that wil carry it</a> at the moment -- at least until the two channels are combined, and then the programming can't get here soon enough.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/16/nfls-new-redzone-channel-wont-be-seen-by-most/">NFL's new RedZone channel won't be seen by most</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 16 Aug 2009 11:57:00 EST. That is music to any NFL fan's ears and something we only wish we could get during the regular season. Of course the preseason is a whole different ball game, because unlike the regular season, most games don't air at the same time and are produced by local affiliates all around the country instead of by four national networks. We can only assume that because of the fact that all but twelve of these are re-broadcasts, that the live presentations in your local market will be in HD as well, but we'll have to wait and see. Speaking of waiting, we're still waiting to hear if this will be the first NFL season without a single SD game -- an HD snob can dream can't he?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/fiber/" rel="tag">Fiber</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/16/every-single-preseason-game-will-be-on-the-nfl-network-in-hd/">Every single preseason game will be on the NFL Network in HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 16 Jul 2009 09:39:00 EST. Forget all the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/18/poll-who-is-right-in-the-nfl-network-comcast-battle/">fights</a> and accusations, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFLNetwork/">NFL Network</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Comcast/">Comcast</a> have reached an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/17/nfl-network-and-comcast-could-be-close-to-a-deal-moving-channel-t/">agreement</a> that will see the channel moved from the sports tier to its Digital Classic level by August 1, available to almost 2/3 of the company's subscribers. Also coming to cable bound NFL fans? Video on-demand content and Comcast will have the "ability" to offer the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/the-nfl-and-directv-extend-exclusive-sunday-ticket-through-2014/">no longer exclusive NFL Redzone Channel</a> when it launches. No word on what this means for any other operators but we wouldn't be surprised if this deal is just the first of several providing wider access to NFL Network. Now, just to see how much our cable bill jumps in the fall to know the real cost of this addition.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/19/nfl-and-comcast-reach-agreement-nfl-network-switches-to-digital-c/">NFL &amp; Comcast reach agreement: NFL Network switches to digital classic by August 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 May 2009 12:34:00 EST. Not that we usually put much stock in Peter King's NFL rumors, but word is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork">NFL Network</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Comcast/">Comcast</a> are close to working out a deal that will put the channel right where the NFL wanted it all along, on the regular digital cable package instead of the added-price sports tier. Since the channel <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/30/nfl-network-remaining-on-comcast-for-the-time-being/">didn't disappear</a> May 1 as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/nfl-network-comcast-slapfight-could-see-channel-yanked-may-1/">threatened</a>, it would seem an agreement on pricing has been reached and according to King things were nearly finished on Thursday and Friday but the two have been hammering out final details even today. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/18/poll-who-is-right-in-the-nfl-network-comcast-battle/">We'll see</a> if this really happens, and not a moment too soon negotiations also under way with Fox, CBS and NBC and labor talks due to get under way with the Players Association.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/17/nfl-network-and-comcast-could-be-close-to-a-deal-moving-channel-t/">NFL Network &amp; Comcast could be close to a deal, moving channel to digital basic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 17 May 2009 21:23:00 EST. As you already know, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork">NFL Network's</a> contract with Comcast <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/nfl-network-comcast-slapfight-could-see-channel-yanked-may-1/">expires tonight</a>, and while the two fight it out over where the channel belongs, on basic cable or a sports tier, it's been threatening to leave the cable company's lineup altogether. Not <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/01/time-warner-viacom-reach-agreement-bromance-crisis-averted/">quite at the 11th hour</a> however, comes word from the <em>Comcast Voices</em> blog that the two are still trying to work things our and due to currently "productive discussions" NFL Network will stay on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/comcast">Comcast</a> systems for now. It'll still be some time be some time before their court case has a ruling, but we're sure your voice on the matter <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/18/poll-who-is-right-in-the-nfl-network-comcast-battle/">has already been heard</a>.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/30/nfl-network-remaining-on-comcast-for-the-time-being/">NFL Network remaining on Comcast, for the time being</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 22:08:00 EST. The hearing is over and both sides have presented their cases to the judge, but it could be up to a month before there's a ruling on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/nfl-network-comcast-slapfight-could-see-channel-yanked-may-1/">NFL Network vs. Comcast case</a>, and with the channel due to disappear in just a few more days we're leaving the decision up to you. Who do you roll with, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork">sports channel</a> arguing the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/comcast">cable giant</a> won't open up its lucrative massive subscriber base while keeping them tied to its own useless channels, or the cable company protesting too high subscriber fees for a niche product? Things haven't all been sweet between <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dish/">DISH Network</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork/">NFL Network</a>, wrangling over details of their agreement <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/26/dish-and-nfl-network-make-a-deal/">since '06</a>, but a new deal should keep the channel on the Classic Silver 200 package for years to come. Combined with DirecTV's new Sunday Ticket deal satellite dish owning football fans can rest easy, but it still looks like Comcast subs will be sweating it out <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/nfl-network-comcast-slapfight-could-see-channel-yanked-may-1/">'til the end of the month</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2009-04-10-nfl-dish-settlement_N.htm">USA Today</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/12/dish-and-nfl-work-out-a-new-multiyear-agreement/">DISH &amp; NFL work out a new multiyear agreement</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 12 Apr 2009 11:24:00 EST. This Hatfield &amp; McCoy-like dispute has been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/21/nfl-network-cries-to-the-fcc/">going on for years</a> now and it might be ready to come to a head. In case you haven't seen the ads, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nflnetwork">NFL Network</a> could leave Comcast altogether May 1. As <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/11/the-fcc-agrees-that-comcast-discriminated-against-the-nfl-networ/">always</a>, the NFL <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/21/comcast-to-nfl-network-stop-coaxing-customers-away-or-else/">wants to be on the basic tier</a> in every subscriber's house alongside ESPN and, less popular, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/comcast">Comcast</a> owned channels, and Comcast wants to keep it on the sports tier, where only those willing to shell out extra will see what it claims is the 4th most expensive channel it has. We like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/23/nfl-network-launches-hd-information-screen-to-jazz-up-sd-materia/">NFL</a>, but we also hate higher basic cable bills for stuff not everyone wants to watch. Of course, an 11th hour reprieve is always possible -- see <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/viacom">Viacom</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bigtennetwork">Big Ten Network</a> and more, but next month Comcast subs may have to choose which large, greedy corporation they love more.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090409/OPINION03/904090335/1008/OPINION01">Read</a> - NFL, not Comcast, is behind dispute over NFL Network<br /><a href="http://iwantnflnetwork.com/">Read</a> - I Want NFL Network<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/09/nfl-network-comcast-slapfight-could-see-channel-yanked-may-1/">NFL Network, Comcast slapfight could see channel yanked May 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 16:31:00 EST. All mixed analogies aside, what we're saying is that the feature you've been clamoring for has finally arrived, and beginning tonight, select Sprint subscribers will be able to watch the entire Cleveland Browns vs. Denver Broncos tilt on their handset. Obviously, you'll need a Sprint TV-capable handset and an Everything Plan (or a $15 per month add-on) in order to tune in, but tonight's game -- which kicks off at 8:00PM ET on the <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/NFLNetwork/">NFL Network</a> -- will be the first of eight games (televised solely on that network) to air via Sprint. Whether or not The Now Network can keep up with the action, however, remains to be seen.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/games/" rel="tag">Games</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/multimedia/" rel="tag">Multimedia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/06/sprint-prepares-to-phone-cast-entire-nfl-games-starting-today/">Sprint prepares to phone-cast entire NFL games, starting tonight</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 08:10:00 EST. At <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/22/all-nfl-games-on-cbs-will-be-in-hd-this-season-finally/">this point</a>, it's really tough to imagine NFL in SD. That being said, some of the material that airs on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFLNetwork/">NFL Network</a> is still in standard-def, but the network is making strides to pretty it up a bit before it goes all-HD next year. Starting today, the channel has launched its new HD information screen on NFL Network HD, which "appears on [the] network when there is standard-definition programming on the air and displays all the latest NFL scores, standings and injury reports." Also of note, a spokesman for the channel pinged us to say that NFL Network is "currently in the process of migrating to 100% HD programming by sometime in 2009," which ought to send chills down the spines of all you NFL junkies looking for even more of your favorite sport in high-def. Now, if we could all just stop talking about that Brett fellow, everything would be cool.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/23/nfl-network-launches-hd-information-screen-to-jazz-up-sd-materia/">NFL Network launches HD information screen to jazz up SD material</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 07:45:00 EST. <div align="left">Where you stand on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/21/comcast-to-nfl-network-stop-coaxing-customers-away-or-else/">NFL Network vs Comcast dispute</a> more than likely depends on how much you enjoy sports programming; but no matter how valuable the channel is to you, The NFL Network has a point. The FCC recently agreed that is discriminatory for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Comcast/">Comcast</a> to put the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFLNetwork/">NFL Network</a> on a sports tier when at the same time Comcast owned sports networks get to be included on the most valuable basic tiers. We love sports, but we also don't mind paying for them, so we wonder why all the dedicated 24 hour sports networks aren't all on the same tier. Of course all of this will be for naught if the rumors <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/25/nfl-network-to-become-espn8-the-ocho/">about ESPN and the NFL getting together</a> are true.</div>

Luckily the trends have been more up our alley and fit perfect into our lifestyle -- which is having a coffee tables laptop instead of some cheesy book. In order to access the new features like; multiple camera angles (or all four at the same time), live chat room, on demand replays, and the usual live stats and drive charts, during games on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFLNetwork/">NFL Network</a>, you'll need to be a Verizon customer (Internet, TV, or DirecTV via Vz). So even if the Pats v' Bucs match up wasn't enough to draw you in this Sunday, these new features alone may make it worth your while to check out.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/internet/" rel="tag">Internet</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/16/verizon-and-the-nfl-get-serious-about-interactive-television/">Verizon and the NFL get serious about interactive television</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 16 Aug 2008 15:57:00 EST. The theory goes that ESPN would take over the network and merge it with another mediocre success, ESPN Classic. Then the two could be offered to providers under a new name -- we're thinking ESPN 8, THE OCHO. Providers would be happy to kill two birds with one stone, since the viewership of ESPN Classic is so low and the NFL Network costs so much, and customers would finally have access to the rest of the NFL games. Makes sense to us.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/espn-hd/" rel="tag">ESPN-HD</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/25/nfl-network-to-become-espn8-the-ocho/">NFL Network to become ESPN 8, THE "OCHO"?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 25 Jun 2008 21:56:00 EST. It appears now that with some help from ESPN, we may not be in store for a repeat this year. Although no details have been revealed, it is being reported -- by the journal that require a subscription -- that the four letter network is in talks that may lead to it helping resolve the fledgling network with its struggles to obtain carriage.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/fiber/" rel="tag">Fiber</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/21/espn-and-nfl-network-working-on-a-deal/">ESPN and NFL Network, working on a deal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 21 Jun 2008 18:14:00 EST. Said person obviously hasn't heard of Thursday night football on the NFL Network. Starting this month, Bermuda's CableVision has tossed in two new HD networks -- CNN HD (400) and NFL Network HD (407) -- which brings the grand total on the carrier to ten. It also noted that the HD surcharge will remain the same at $12 per month. If you haven't found a way to blow that incoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/15/20-of-us-households-will-spend-stimulus-funds-on-consumer-elect/">stimulus check</a> (and you've got a thing for travel), um, here's your sign.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/03/bermudas-cablevision-adds-cnn-hd-and-nfl-network-hd/">Bermuda's CableVision adds CNN HD and NFL Network HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 03 May 2008 22:12:00 EST. It's no secret: the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFLNetwork/">NFL Network</a> isn't in nearly as many homes as the league had hoped when it launched in 2003. As it stands, the channel has only wiggled into 10 million abodes, whereas the NFL was estimating 32 million. At the network's third annual "upfront" presentation, commissioner Roger Goodell looked media buyers and advertisers in the eye and stated that it would "make the NFL Network a success." Not surprisingly, the biggest obstacle here is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/08/insight-cable-customers-get-five-new-hd-channels-nfl-network-in/">distribution</a>, but it seems the league is adamant to find ways to broaden the channel's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/26/nfl-network-coming-to-ip-prime-iptv/">audience</a>. We suppose the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/21/comcast-to-nfl-network-stop-coaxing-customers-away-or-else/">battles</a> will <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/21/nfl-network-cries-to-the-fcc/">live on</a>, eh?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/advertising/" rel="tag">Advertising</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/02/commissioner-insists-that-nfl-network-will-be-a-success/">Commissioner insists that NFL Network will be "a success"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 02 May 2008 20:03:00 EST. Just days after <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/20/ip-prime-adds-hd-service-to-12-telephone-companies/">announcing</a> that it was bringing HD service to a solid dozen telcos, the outfit is now able to bring <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nfl+network/">NFL Network</a> to its customers. Interestingly, the release doesn't specifically mention carrying SD and / or HD feeds, but hopefully the latter will indeed be made available. It is noted that the station is now accessible by all IP-PRIME operators throughout the US, but each operator will still have to sign "individual carriage deals with NFL Network in order to offer the channel to their subscribers." Oh, goodie.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/26/nfl-network-coming-to-ip-prime-iptv/">NFL Network coming to IP-PRIME IPTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 26 Apr 2008 15:18:00 EST. You'll still be able to see the New England Patriots chase perfection as the league has apparently caved, allowing CBS and NBC to simulcast its feed Saturday night. If the Patriots defeat the Giants, they'll become only the second NFL team to have an undefeated regular season. The NFL has never had a three network simulcast before, and this is the first simulcast since CBS and NBC teamed up on Super Bowl I in 1967. While we were really looking forward to a rerun of <em>Law &amp; Order: SVU</em>, we'll somehow get over it when the game kicks off Saturday at 8 p.m.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cbs/" rel="tag">CBS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nbc/" rel="tag">NBC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/primetime/" rel="tag">Primetime</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/26/nfl-network-allows-patriots-vs-giants-simulcast-on-nbc-and-cbs/">NFL Network allows Patriots vs. Giants Simulcast on NBC &amp; CBS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 26 Dec 2007 20:40:00 EST. In a move that's as propagandistic as it is bold, the satellite provider will be giving cable customers in the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Orlando, Florida areas a chance to catch NFL Network telecasts as well as a healthy serving of promotional material. Starting tonight with the Broncos - Texans matchup, citizens of Tampa will be able to peer up at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/26/directv-unveils-hd-starship-mobile-display/">Starship</a> and "enjoy the game," after which it will head to St. Petersburg for the Bengals - 49ers game on Saturday. Next week, those in Orlando can check out Steelers - Rams and Cowboys - Panthers, and hey, don't fret about missing out on this thing -- we're pretty sure you'll notice that 2,100-square foot screen hovering above your city.<br /><br />[Image courtesy of <a href="http://www.dtv101.com/?p=16">DTV101</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/13/directv-starship-takes-nfl-network-to-bright-house-customers/">DirecTV Starship takes NFL Network to Bright House customers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 13 Dec 2007 11:11:00 EST. Reportedly, an undisclosed amount of high-definition films will be available for renting at $5.99 a pop, and as if that wasn't reason enough to celebrate, these same customers are also getting two new additions to the HD lineup. Sports fans in particular should greatly appreciate getting both NFL Network and Fox Sports Pittsburgh in HD, both of which will now be included in the "regular HD package." Dave Dane, vice president of Atlantic Broadband's Pennsylvania operations, also noted that it had "some proposed HD launches for the first quarter of next year," but we're left to wonder precisely what those will be.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/12/atlantic-broadband-expands-hd-lineup-adds-hd-vod-in-johnstown/">Atlantic Broadband expands HD lineup, adds HD VOD in Johnstown, PA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 12 Dec 2007 09:41:00 EST. Reportedly, users can now tune into Discovery, Animal Planet, The Learning Channel (TLC), TBS, National Geographic and yes, even the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/05/nfl-networks-cowboys-vs-packers-matchup-set-cable-records/">NFL Network</a> in glorious HD. The Digital 3.0 package will automatically be available to digital subscribers at no extra cost, but it should be noted that Insight will raise prices in January. Additionally, the operator has nearly doubled its on-demand library and includes VOD channels for HOB, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax and The Movie Channel, but we're still left with no word on any HD VOD plans.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/discovery-hd/" rel="tag">Discovery-HD</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/new-content/" rel="tag">New content</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/08/insight-cable-customers-get-five-new-hd-channels-nfl-network-in/">Insight cable customers get six new HD channels, NFL Network included</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 08 Dec 2007 11:12:00 EST. Midway through last month, Verizon <a href="http://newscenter.verizon.com/press-releases/verizon/2007/verizon-delivers.html">announced</a> that subscribers of both FiOS TV and FiOS broadband would have the ability to watch free online broadcasts of multiple camera angles from remaining <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/05/nfl-networks-cowboys-vs-packers-matchup-set-cable-records/">NFL Network</a> games, and while we knew the feeds wouldn't be delivered in HD, it sounded like the perfect complement to watching the game on your big screen. In reality, however, the service proved a bit of a letdown according to the <em>AP</em>, but of course, we'd bet opinions would vary widely depending on one's fanhood. Users can flip (though not instantaneously) between a trio of angles, and while the content was laggy at times, it seemed at least decently reliable overall. The biggest dig on the service was its less-than-enthralling nature; put simply, you aren't guaranteed to see the "most exciting" shots, so fixing your eyes on the online extras may actually be less entertaining than the high-definition feed lighting up your set. Nevertheless, we're glad to see bonuses such as this being offered up, but we'd highly recommend checking out the read link before you switch services just for Game Extra.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/fiber/" rel="tag">Fiber</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/internet/" rel="tag">Internet</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/08/verizons-fios-tv-game-extra-gets-tested-reviewed/">Verizon's FiOS TV Game Extra gets tested, reviewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 08 Dec 2007 02:32:00 EST. It's no secret that Comcast and the NFL Network don't have the <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/09/21/nfl-network-cries-to-the-fcc/">rosiest of relationships</a>, and now that Comcast won a ruling (that's being appealed, to no one's shock) over what tier the channel was being placed on, the carrier has shot out a cease and desist letter demanding the network stop persuading customers to switch providers. Reportedly, the note contends that the channel's iwantnflnetwork.com "violates the contract between the network and Comcast," as it coaxes customers to ponder switching with a message reading "Switch to a TV provider that will bring you NFL Network, not hold you hostage." The NFL Network has responded by stating that the arguments are "without merit," and even proclaimed that users dropping Comcast "did not need encouragement from them." Apparently, the cable operator is calling for the network to "confirm in writing" that it has halted its attempts to influence consumers by Friday, but a spokeswomen said she "didn't want to speculate what the company would do if its demands were not met." But what good is a network if no one can watch it? It only makes sense that you'd want your network to be carried by the largest paid television provider in the country. Of course <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Comcast/">Comcast</a> knows they're the 800 lb gorilla, so if they say you're going on the sports tier, than so be it. The networks take this personal and after years of bickering, the NFL Network is taking their case to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/FCC/">FCC</a>. They're saying it isn't fair because Comcast has no problem putting the the channels they own on the base tier. As much as we normally hate to side with big cable, we kinda see their point on this one, we mean seriously, who else but big time NFL fans even cares about this channel? It's not like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFL/">NFL</a> Total Access is presented in HD or anything.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/21/nfl-network-cries-to-the-fcc/">NFL Network cries to the FCC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 21 Sep 2007 14:21:00 EST. Sure it's only pre-season, but at this point in the year, we'll take whatever football we can get. Plus, in another month the regular season gets underway and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/07/cbs-to-offer-more-hd-nfl-all-games-in-hd-by-2008/">it promises to be the best season yet</a> for HD fans. The Hall of Fame game kicks off the season on the NFL Network in HD, which is the first of nine live games carried by them this year. As great as the NFL Network is, the real problem is that many people don't get it, 'cause their cable co' can't get the deal done -- just another reason for NFL fans to switch to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/DirecTV/">DirecTV</a>. Unfortunatly not all the NFL games will be presented in HD this year, so if you want to see which games will be, head over to HDSportsguide.com to find out who the lucky ones are.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/fiber/" rel="tag">Fiber</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ota/" rel="tag">OTA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/satellite/" rel="tag">Satellite</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sports/" rel="tag">Sports</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/03/the-nfl-kicks-off-sunday-in-hd-on-the-nfl-network/">The NFL kicks off Sunday in HD on the NFL Network</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Aug 2007 12:25:00 EST. The NFL Network isn't normally available full-time in HD here, but it has shown up in the last few days. According to <a href="http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6299370.html?display=Breaking News">Multichannel News</a>, the two are working together to provide access to residents and those just in town for the game. Up until February 7th, you'll be able to view NFL Network on analog cable as well as NFL Network HD on digital cable.<br /><br />Hopefully this leads to NFL Network always being in high definition on Comcast, the NFL has one of the largest libaries with all their NFL Films content.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cable/" rel="tag">Cable</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/25/comcast-nfl-network-hd-team-up-in-detroit/">Comcast, NFL Network-HD team up in Detroit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 25 Jan 2006 12:51:00 EST.
