The Nintendo World trailer for Dead or Alive Dimensions combines the first real gameplay footage of Team Ninja's handheld fighter with some less real 3D effects. You'll know the simulated 3D when characters actually come out of the screen. Included in the trailer is footage of the digital command list in action, along with some kind of StreetPass-based multiplayer called "Street Fight," similar to the statue-fighting mode in Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition -- virtual characters battle it out automatically whenever two systems "see" one another. Also shown is "Internet Play," in which ... well, that one you can figure out.

One of the highlights of this weekend's Nintendo World 2011 event was a Kid Icarus: Uprising presentation, during which producer Masahiro Sakurai demonstrated the game live on stage. If you'd like to see that entire half-hour presentation, Nintendo has posted it on Ustream. If you'd prefer to just skip to the good stuff -- specifically, about five minutes of uninterrupted live gameplay -- go for the video after the break, courtesy of Nintendo 3DS Blog. And it is very good stuff, featuring both aerial and ground combat, against lots of flying eye monsters and even some boss types.

Who's got the free time to keep an eye on every single piece of software due out for the Nintendo 3DS? Certainly not us -- that's why we're so pleased the video below came our way: It's a demo reel of almost every single 3DS game announced so far, and it only takes a scant five minutes to view.

  • 3DS has 3-5 hour battery life for 3DS games

One of the remaining questions about the 3DS hardware since its debut has been will it destroy your eyes how long will the batteries last? After all, DS hardware revisions have generally upped the battery capacity, even when increasing the size of the screens (the DSi XL claims up to 17 hours!) That's not the case with the 3DS. Nintendo revealed the final hardware specs at its Nintendo World 2011 event, announcing that the 3DS will run for 3-5 hours when playing 3DS software, and 5-8 hours when running DS games. We guess it does take a lot of power to run three displays (if you count the dual rendering required for 3D as two displays) and maintain a wireless connection. This is precisely why the device ships with that charging dock -- which, by the way, will charge the battery in about 3 and a half hours. [Thanks, Vallanthaz]

  • Rumor: 3DS to launch in Japan with around 10 games

It's likely we'll find out for sure what the launch lineup for the Japanese 3DS release will be tomorrow, during the Nintendo World 2011 event. However, Inside-Games claims to know the number of titles launching with the handheld on February 26: approximately 10. According to Andriasang's translation of the rumor post, third parties have "a large number" of games ready for the launch window, to be distributed throughout February and March. But as for day-one, between Nintendo and third parties, it'll be about 10 games. Expect them all to come from the 15 playable titles at the Nintendo World event. The site also claims that pricing for 3DS games will run around 1,000 yen ($12) more than the standard 4,800 ($57) yen DS game price, with more expensive games (your Square Enix stuff) running 2,000 yen higher. It's hard to tell how that will translate to American prices, considering the difference in base price between America and Japan.

Nintendo's official website for Nintendo World 2011, next month's public showing of the 3DS in Japan, has been updated, now highlighting the full list of games to be shown during the Tokyo event. Playable versions of everything from MGS3: Snake Eater to Pilotwings Resort will be on hand, though, bizarrely, some demos that were playable at this year's E3 will be for display only, including Starfox 64 3D. Nintendo has also announced that the 3DS will make an appearance at next month's World Hobby Fair (also in Japan) and at two Japanese outlet shopping centers, according to 1UP. We suspect you'd find the shortest lines at those outlets, but, personally, we'd rather take our chances at the Makuhari Messe event to check out the long list of titles (found after the break) than watch a few demos at the local Uniqlo.

Nintendo opened the official website for its previously announced public 3DS demo event (in Japan -- calm down), dubbing the showcase "Nintendo World 2011." Taking place from January 8 - 10 in Hall 9 of the Makuhari Messe convention center (home of Tokyo Game Show), admission to the event will be free for the public. Unfortunately, none of the games on display have been listed, but the event's website promises more info as January draws closer. It's not clear whether this event will become a regular shindig or not -- Nintendo holds events sporadically in Japan, but the 3DS is anomalous in being most effectively marketed in person. Regardless, Nintendo World 2011 will mark the first time the general public will get its hands on Nintendo's next big thing. Given our experience with the handheld at E3, we suspect the public is in for a good time.
