Comcast is bringing its twice-as-fast-as-Google-Fiber internet service to northern California. Potential customers will need installation of professional-grade equipment to access it and, you'll have to be near its fiber network -- Fresno, Monterey, Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area are among the places on the list -- to qualify. That's not all, either. Statewide, it's rolling out a 250 Mbps "Extreme 250" speed tier for cable internet customers. The telecom giant's also boosting speeds on its existing tiers as well, with lower priced-plans getting jumps from 25 to 45 Mbps depending on the package at no added cost. Perhaps the best news about all this is that you won't have to wait too much longer for it all to take effect. Comcast says it'll start the cable internet upgrades in May with continued rollouts taking place the rest of the year, while the 2Gbps fiber service starts rolling out in June. And just like that, there's another gigabit competitor in Google HQ's vicinity with Fiber nowhere in sight. [Image credit: Shutterstock]

Good news for anyone wishing they could personally ask the City of Heroes team questions. NCsoft has decided to bring back the "Ask a dev" feature due to recent expansions of the NorCal team that works on City of Heroes. The very first developer who gets to be pelted with questions is a Mr. Bruce Harlick, who happens to be a senior designer on the team. If you've got any burning questions about upcoming changes/improvements to missions, storylines or their supporting systems head on over to the official forums to ask.We suppose you could ask about stuff that's not related to his job, but you're much less likely to see an answer if you do. Then again, if you were to ask something completely out of left field, he may just respond out of pure curiosity. We know that we probably would!

  • LicketyShip's four hour gadget delivery service goes live

We've all had those moments where we needed (read: wanted) something, and we needed it fast. For those who just can't get enough instant gratification in their lives, there's a new gadget delivery service aimed squarely at you. After two years of running through hoops in order to get everything sufficiently established, LicketyShip is hitting the streets (literally) and burning down the highways to get you whatever gizmo your heart desires (so long as it's stocked) within four hours of ordering. Due to nifty inventory-monitoring software and sweet hookups with local carriers, the company can probably get your kit to you before you'd make it down the 101 yourself. For now, however, the service is restricted to the San Francisco Bay Area, and there's no night owl routes running just yet either -- but if business goes as planned, and enough Bay Area folks shell out the $19.99 (and way up, we presume) required for such zippy services, the four-hour rule will reportedly go into effect from coast to coast.
