Zelda-themed Symphony of the Goddesses returns in 2015
The Legend of Zelda-themed orchestra Symphony of the Goddesses begins a new tour next month, the "Master Quest." The concert series will kick off at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee on January 21 and 22, wrapping its nine-month tour at the Jones Hall for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas on October 22. Symphony of the Goddesses will perform an orchestral score approved by The Legend of Zelda series composer Koji Kondo. The four-movement symphony features the stories of Zelda games such as Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Link to the Past. GameStop nabs Ocarina of Time-themed Hyrule Warriors costume pack
GameStop appeals to nostalgia-addled N64 kids with an exclusive Hyrule Warriors costume pack, allowing pre-order customers to dress Link and Zelda up in costumes originally featured 1998's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Pre-order Hyrule Warriors at GameStop and you'll receive a DLC code for the costumes at purchase, while online customers will receive a code via e-mail after the game ships. New 3DS colors & bundles in Japan, eShop gets digital re-releases
Nintendo announced three new 3DS XL bundles for Japan, with two special case designs for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Animal Crossing 3DS. The company also announced the upcoming arrival of eight previously released 3DS games on the Japanese eShop.In an initial Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo showcased 3DS XL bundles for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, NSMB 2, and Animal Crossing 3DS. The Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate bundle comes with an all-black 3DS XL, and launches in Japan on November 1. The NSMB 2 bundle, pictured above, comes with a very flash red design, dotted with light red images from the Mario universe. The Animal Crossing 3DS design is similar, but with polka dot images against a white background, a bit 'Tutti Frutti' if you ask us. The Animal Crossing 3DS bundle arrives in Japan on November 8, with the NSMB 2 one a week after. All three bundles come with digital copies of the game.That brings us nicely onto the second Nintendo Direct broadcast, which announced eight digital versions of previously released 3DS games for the eShop. Those games don't include the three in the 3DS XL bundles above (cunning, Mr Nintendo), but they do include Ocarina of Time 3D, Pilotwings Resort, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, Hana to Ikimorio Rittai Zukan (click if you're curious), and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. New Zelda: Ocarina of Time bug beats game in 23 minutes as child Link
Just because a game has been played by millions of people, millions of times over, doesn't mean we've uncovered all of its secrets. Case in point: YouTuber ZeldaFreakGlitcha recently used a bug in Ocarina of Time that allows him to complete the game in 23 minutes. The glitch involves defeating Queen Gohma and activating, but not traveling through, the warp gate, which then drops child Link in Ganon's castle, and miniaturized missions ensue.Usually we'd say defeating Ganon is no small feat, but with this, well... you know. ZeldaFreakGlitcha is live-streaming more attempts to beat his best bug time today on TwitchTV.
Hyrulecraft: Ocarina of Time reproduced in Minecraft
We don't know if you guys are aware of this or not, but people really love Zelda games. Some people, in fact, love Zelda games so much that they've spent nine months completely rebuilding a Zelda game inside of a totally unrelated and entirely different game.The Hyrulecraft project, which is currently in the middle of live public alpha testing, is a to-scale recreation of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time inside of Minecraft. As you can tell from the above trailer, Hyrulecraft an impressive display of devotion to the franchise, but the team responsible has far more ambitious plans. Nintendo gives thanks to gamers with special edition Zelda 3DS bundle
Looking to match your Black Friday with a similarly noir games console? You're in luck. Nintendo has confirmed what we saw on promo literature last week, with a 3DS bundle that includes a special edition (possibly Hyrulean-crafted) console and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Nintendo says the bundle, arriving alongside a similar Flame Red iteration with Super Mario 3D Land, can be snapped up for $200. However, bargain hunters should be able to sniff out some cheaper deals come Friday.

Goron into the gallery First 4 Figures has created a niche for itself as a destination for insane, rich Nintendo fans' extra money. The company has dipped pretty deep into the Zelda character catalog for its latest high-quality, high-cost figurine: Ocarina of Time's Goron King, Darunia. Zelda adherents who really want to festoon their desks, shelves or dioramas with a 15-inch rock man (he's to scale with First 4 Figures' other Zelda toys) can order one of these for $154.99 in advance of its Q4 2010 release. Internet heroes help blind gamer beat Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Man, we hope your hearts are wearing some light, loose-fitting clothing, because they're about to get warmed. CNN recently aired a video report on mild-mannered Roy Williams, a young man whose love of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is surpassed only by his love of doing awesome, considerate things. Like, for instance, playing Ocarina of Time blindfolded, and writing a guide on how to play the game by only using sound clues, so that a visually impaired gamer living in another country can topple Ganon's tyrannical reign. Transcribing OoT in this manner took Williams and "three other diehard gamers" two years, but allowed Jordan Verner, a blind gamer living in Ontario, to finish the game for the first time. Rumor: Zelda Wii to be Majora's Mask sequel
Let's get this straight: There are rumors about video games, and then there are crazy internet rumors about video games that are so intriguing you can't help but get excited about them, even though you don't believe they're anything more than products of an overactive fan imagination. This post is about the second kind. Information has bubbled up from the Japanese 2chan message board about the new Wii Zelda game and, while 2chan's record on rumors hasn't been bad (they've broken information on Japanese anime, Resident Evil and other games that later turned out to be true), these rumors are crazy. Like Majora's Mask crazy. See what we mean after the break.
Mod replaces Link with Samus in Ocarina of Time
We don't get why somebody would do such a thing, but this mod by Flotonic, which inserts the space bounty hunter from Metroid into The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is pretty nifty nonetheless. The only issue is that the brief video clip -- which you can watch past the break -- doesn't show Samus pulling off any of her classic moves in Ocarina of Time. She doesn't morph into a ball and she doesn't fire a single shot from her arm cannon, but oh boy does she look good in the game. [Via GoNintendo]
Zelda Reorchestrated project completes Ocarina of Time score remake
On Christmas day six years ago, one boy had a legitimate dream: To recreate the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, making it sound like it was recorded by live musicians. Three-fifths of a decade passed, and the boy became a man. More importantly, the Zelda Reorchestrated project produced its first succulent fruits: A 22-track compilation of Ocarina's tunes, as performed by a virtual philharmonic. You can stream some of the tracks off the Zelda Reorchestrated site, or download the entire shebang for free. Or, you can just wait for the group to recreate the timeless music of Wand of Gamelon, which should be just around the corner.
Nintendo's Aonuma: Majora's Mask the result of Miyamoto challenge
[Image credit: Rich Lem] Eiji Aonuma has spent a lot of time developing Legend of Zelda games. In fact, he's been in a managerial role on the franchise ever since the series' arguably most popular installment, The Ocarina of Time. So when Mario creator (and his boss) Shigeru Miyamoto asked Aonuma and his team to develop an "Ura Zelda" (a flipped version of Ocarina of Time -- what would eventually become the Master Quest), Aonuma protested. Miyamoto's compromise, though, instead turned out to be a much greater challenge -- produce a sequel to OoT within one year. "We were supposed to make its sequel in a year ... at first, we had absolutely no idea what sort of thing we were supposed to make, and we just kept expanding our plans," Aonuma told Nintendo prez Satoru Iwata during a recent Iwata Asks column."in the beginning, it was all trial and error ... ultimately, we adopted the 'three-day system,' and made it so that, if you couldn't clear the game inside of three days, the world was destroyed." Aonuma claims this concept was what allowed Majora's Mask to be created and released just 18 months after OoT came out. He also adds that lessons he learned from the development of Majora's Mask -- from having to remember a sequence of events in order to proceed, to "deep, compact play" -- helped to shape the development of the most recent Zelda release, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. We'd like to say that Aonuma will have a break from the series after serving as producer on Spirit Tracks, but he's the man in charge of the upcoming LoZ game for the Wii. We're sorry, Mr. Aonuma! Time runs out for Zelda-esque chicken strip auction
One Zelda fan discovered that McDonalds had selected a very special Chicken Selects strip for him: one that bears a resemblance to the Ocarina of Time from, well, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The one on the right is the chicken strip -- we know it can be hard to tell the two near-identical images apart. After holding the treasure aloft and singing the classic Zelda "You Found an Item" fanfare (we are approximately 100% certain this happened), the lucky owner of the magical instrument ... -shaped chicken strip decided to share his good fortune. By putting it on eBay.Despite starting bidding at a reasonable (for a legendary artifact) $25, nobody bid on 0iz0's auction for some old food. Now what is he to do? Zelda director won't quit until he surpasses Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time turned 10 years old last Friday. Remarkably, even after a decade of technological advances and narrative achievements in gaming, it remains atop Gamerankings' list as the highest rated game of all time. However, if Eiji Aonuma (director of Ocarina and every subsequent Zelda title) has his way, the Hylian N64 classic will be dethroned in his lifetime. In a recent interview with Nintendo Power, Aonuma expressed his lofty career goals -- he plans to stick with the Zelda series until he creates a title that surpasses Ocarina of Time. This is fantastic news, as Aonuma's continued involvement with the series is likely the only reason we've yet to see a spin-off title featuring a gun-toting Dark Link.
Aonuma can't quit Zelda until he beats Ocarina of Time
As co-director of a game that many consider the greatest of all time, you'd think Eiji Aonuma would be content to put his feet up and soak up the praise. It's what we would do, but that's probably why we'll never create anything as awe-inspiring as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.Speaking to Nintendo Power about his past work on most of the Zeldas since Ocarina of Time, Aonuma insists that he can't stop making the games, because he's yet to beat what he achieved with Ocarina. "I'm happy that a title I worked on some time ago remains highly praised to this day," he says, "but that also shows how none of the subsequent games in the series have surpassed it."He adds that this alone may be what motivates him to make more Zelda and keep putting more happy in our heads.
