Once again, we called it – Humble Indie Bundle 7 has added three new games and their soundtracks to its offering, unlocked if you pay more than the average (which is hovering around $6). Offspring Fling comes from Kyle Pulver, the developer of Snapshot, and Cave Story+ is a pretty little 2D platformer from indies Pixel and Nicalis.Humble Indie Bundle 7 now includes Snapshot, The Binding of Isaac and its Wrath of the Lamb DLC, Closure, Shank 2, and a copy of Indie Game: The Movie for whatever price you want to pay, and Dungeon Defenders (plus all of its DLC), Legend of Grimrock and these three new games for anything higher than the average. The PAX 10, an illustrious group of indie games chosen annually to be spotlighted during PAX Prime in Seattle, have been selected. This year's rarified group include the likes of Johann Sebastian Joust, Offspring Fling! – a game we highlighted in length on the Super Joystiq Podcast – and hypnotic iOS darling Puzzlejuice.Other lesser-known titles include the latest from Cipher Prime, the studio behind Auditorium and Fractal, a Steam title called Splice, and puzzle games Containment: The Zombie Puzzler and The Bridge. Puzzle-platformer The Swapper is also represented, along with DigiPen's stealth-action game Deity and Catch-22. Turtle Sandbox's action-strategy hybrid Cannon Brawl rounds out the list of ten.All PAX 10 titles will be featured in their own special area at this year's PAX Prime, which goes down August 31 through September 2 in downtown Seattle, WA.

  • The Joystiq Indie Pitch: Offspring Fling

Indie developers are the starving artists of the video-game world, often brilliant and innovative, but also misunderstood, underfunded and more prone to writing free-form poetry on their LiveJournals. We believe they deserve a wider audience with the Joystiq Indie Pitch: This week, Kyle Pulver's Offspring Fling is the best PC and Mac game you could ask for in the week approaching Mother's Day. Or any other day, really. Pre-pitch-post-gray-intro note: Offspring Fling launched on Steam today for PC and Mac, and it's 20 percent off through May 18. It includes the Mother's Day Update, which has a level editor, replay and sharing features. Go make momma proud! What's your game called and what's it about? It's called Offspring Fling, and it's a game about a poor forest creature that has misplaced her children in a mostly happy but sometimes spooky forest. She'll have to make her way through more than 100 levels of baby throwing, puzzle solving, button pressing, bee-avoiding action if she wants to get them all home by dinner. What inspired you to make Offspring Fling?May 2011: I went to a local game jam in the Phoenix area. The theme: Motherhood. After an hour or so I had an idea of a puzzle-platformer game where you have to get a bunch of babies safely to an exit, and you could use them in all sorts of ways to solve puzzles and platforming challenges. Forty-eight hours later I had a pretty solid prototype of the game with 15 playable levels, and I ran with it from there.

  • Behold the unrelenting cuteness of 'Offspring Fling!'

The blurb on the front of Offspring Fling!'s fake, SNES-inspired box art invites potential players to "experience the thrill of motherhood in this baby throwing adventure," which unsurprisingly is an invitation we're remarkably inclined to accept.Developed by Kyle Pulver and scored by Alec Holowka, Offspring Fling! puts the player in control of a "poor forest creature" who must locate her lost children across 100-plus levels. Once found, said children can be stacked upon the forest creature's head and then tossed about to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. It sounds fairly simple, but as you can tell from the above trailer, things can get a little squirrelly.Offspring Fling! is available for $7.99 on PC and OSX, direct from the game's official website. There's also a playable in-browser demo that we heartily recommend, if only because we want the rest of the world to experience the simple pleasure of picking up one of these tiny little baby-chick-bunny-duckling things.
