Old Navy, purveyor of seasonal pajama pants and your mom's idea of a nice back-to-school shirt, will be joining forces with Nintendo to incentivize your post-pilgrim parodying patronage during this year's Black Friday insanity.Stores open at Midnight on Friday, November 23, and customers who spend $40 or more at checkout will receive a free copy of New Super Mario Bros. U while supplies last. For the whole of Black Friday, however, all customers will receive a card that may or may not entitle them to one of 1,000 possible free Wii U consoles. Should you live in Canada, all of this will take place on Saturday, November 24.Additionally, around one third of Old Navy's US locations will be equipped with Wii U demo stations and Nintendo-themed backdrops for photo opportunities. The company's flagship stores in San Francisco and New York will even have people dressed up like Nintendo characters, just in case you wanted to add a healthy dollop of embarrassment to the stress and anger normally associated with Black Friday.

Old Navy, the retail clothing store chain that owned by another retail clothing store chain (The Gap, former employer of onetime Apple retail exec George Blankenship), is reportedly piloting an iPod touch-based point-of-sale (POS) system like that used in Apple Stores. The system, known as EasyPay in the Apple retail world, uses a Linea-Pro barcode scanner and card reader sled from Infinite Peripherals to capture product and payment information and allow Apple Store customers to complete purchases from anywhere in the store. 9 to 5 Mac reports that Old Navy is now running a limited pilot of the same POS system at several of their stores. Apple has been marketing the EasyPay POS to third parties as "ZipCheck", and it appears that Old Navy is the first to give it a try. Some of the employees using the system wear small printers attached to their belts to provide receipts on-the-go. There is no word from Old Navy on whether or not the creepy "Supermodelquins" used in the chain's TV spots will be equipped with ZipCheck devices to haunt your nightmares and check you out at your local store.

The holiday season brings all kinds of happy traditions. For us, those traditions include dusting off the rarely used "old-navy" tag. Like last year, the clothing retailer is offering a free Harmonix game with a $25 purchase on Black Friday. This year, the Harmonix game in question is Kinect standout Dance Central. If you're a Kinect owner interested in this offer, and you need some pants or something, we suggest getting to your local store long before it opens at midnight on Friday, November 26 (or Saturday in Canada). We heard reports last year that the free games were limited to the first 25 shoppers to come in. The good news is that if you wait in line and miss out on a copy, you won't feel much like dancing anyway. So that kind of works out. [Thanks, Aaron!]

  • All the great Rock Bands started at Old Navy

We can't tell you the number of times we've been packed into the mall during holiday season like angry, sweater-draped sardines and thought "This is great, but what if four people could swing plastic instruments around and warble an off-key version of 'Thunderstruck' just a few feet from us?" Finally, a retailer has stepped up to cater to our needs as Old Navy has announced it'll be putting Rock Band kiosks in 700 of its stores beginning on Black Friday. Also, on Dec. 9 and Dec. 16, those who spend more than $25 at the store will get a free Rock Band track to take home, though we can't imagine why you'd want to play Rock Band at home when you could be playing in Old Navy. .nounderline a { text-decoration: none; } Check out Joystiq's Black Friday Game Deals Hub or jump to a retailer guide below: Best Buy | GameStop | Kmart & Sears | Target | Toys"R"Us | Walmart For more Black Friday coverage, check out Black Friday Deals, Cyber Monday Sales, And other Black Friday 2009 stories today from Walletpop.com

  • Confirmed for Black Friday: Old Navy giving Lego Rock Band with $20 clothing purchase

We hope you've been putting off purchasing that that new fleece jacket you've had your eye on, because Old Navy will be running one hell of a video game deal this coming Black Friday. As suggested by a supposedly leaked circular earlier this month, anyone who spends $20 on the store's merchandise will receive Lego Rock Band for free on the platform of their choice. The rumored deal was recently confirmed by a television spot (which unfortunately has yet to find its way online). We contacted a handful of locations in Texas, Ohio and Illinois, all of which said the offer would be valid at their stores. However, both the advertisement and the store representatives we spoke to mentioned that copies of the game will be "extremely limited," so we suggest getting to your nearest store as close to its 3 a.m. opening time as your tryptophan-infused body will permit. .nounderline a { text-decoration: none; } Check out Joystiq's Black Friday Game Deals Hub or jump to a retailer guide below: Best Buy | GameStop | Kmart & Sears | Target | Toys"R"Us | Walmart For more Black Friday coverage, check out Black Friday Deals, Cyber Monday Sales, And other Black Friday 2009 stories today from Walletpop.com

Old Navy's going to have to do a lot better than the unholy offspring of a Wiimote and a first-gen iPod shuffle to make us ignore the advertising and buy its KIRF fashions. Anyone know what super awesome tracks are preloaded on this thing?[Thanks, Steve]
