  • Death Knight solos (most of) AQ20

Felblood, the Death Knight who recently soloed Zul'Gurub, sent us news of a new accomplishment: he's finished off most of AQ20 as well. Kurinaxx's Mortal Strike-like debuff apparently didn't affect Death Strike, so he just had to dodge the sand there, and apparently Moam's mana drain doesn't work on Runic Power, so he was just a tank and spank. Ossirian and Buru were a little tougher, but eventually with a little practice, Felblood says he was able to keep up DPS on the bosses and move around to their eggs and crystals. It's not a full clear, however, since Ayamiss didn't get killed -- Felblood didn't think of a way to get away from her sacrifice, since he'd have been the only raider in the instance. But an accomplishment nevertheless -- it's crazy to think of how long we banged our heads on Rajaxx and Ossirian when they've now been toppled by just one level 80 Death Knight. So what's next -- are we going to see the old 40-man content soloed? Wouldn't be too surprising with Molten Core, as we've already seen it 3-manned at 70, but things might get tougher as you head to AQ40 (where Felblood said he could down some trash, but not much else) or even Blackwing Lair.

Two bosses may enter... but only one will get to leave in WoW Insider's fantasy deathmatch series. Every week we pit two of Azeroth's raid bosses against one another in a battle that your votes get to decide. This week we present Ragnaros the Firelord, coming all the way from the heart of Molten Core in Blackrock Mountain, and Ossirian the Unscarred, who's traveled from Ahn'Qiraj in the Silithus desert to participate in this match. Who wins and who loses? Ultimately, that's for you to decide -- so read on!

  • One Boss Leaves: Ossirian vs. Al'ar wrap-up

Last week's episode of Two Bosses Enter was our closest fight to date, with the margin of victory being a scant seven votes. (In case you were wondering whether your votes made a difference, this time it only would have taken a handful of votes to turn the tide.) Ossirian won with 786 votes to Al'ar's 779. Commenters noted that Al'ar would be unlikely to figure out the trick of getting Ossirian out of his Supreme Mode, and when he's moving as fast and hitting as hard as he does in Supreme Mode, he's a tough cookie. And even if Al'ar did kock Ossirian out of Supreme Mode, Ossirian has high magical resistances, and Supreme Mode only makes him vulnerable to one school of magic -- meaning that Al'ar's fire attacks still only have a chance of hurting him. However, while the votes were close, there's a possibility this matchup was only close because the Ossirian fight is particularly gimmicky -- and not a good one for comparison. (Note: if you see any matchups in our brackets that you don't think work out, feel free to drop me a note at elizabeth DOT harper AT wowinsider DOT com. I'm happy to listen to any suggestions.) However, for the time being, the fight is won and Ossirian is moving on. You can reference our current brackets, complete with nifty linkage, over at WoWWiki, page creation courtesy of Imandir.

Two bosses enter... but only one will get to leave in WoW Insider's own fantasy deathmatch. We've selected 32 of the most interesting bosses in the game and every week we're matching a pair of them up to see who comes out the winner. In the end, only one boss will remain standing. This week we're going to consider a match between Ossirian the Unscarred for Ahn'Qiraj and Al'ar, the Pheonix God in the Eye of Tempest Keep. If it sounds unfair to you, remember -- we're comparing the fighting style of the two bosses, assuming they're of approximately equal level, health, and damage. Who will win this fight is for you to decide -- but first, let's discuss each bosses' abilities.

US servers are expecting several bug fixes during tomorrow's maintenance (and I would assume European servers will see them during Wednesday maintenance).  Among them are fixes to the time lapse ability used by Chromaggus, the invisible vortexes in the Ossirian encounter, and raid resets (which will hopefully be back on their regular schedule).  All good fixes and I'm glad to see them coming - though I honestly wonder how they managed to make it beyond QA in the first place.
