Although there is no official word on Diablo III's site, Senior Producer Alex Mayberry tweeted that patch 2.0.1 will be going live today. The major feature of this patch, also known as Paragon 2.0, is that it adds more end-game character advancement and replayability with the updated Paragon leveling system. The changes include removing the level cap for earning Paragon experience, making Paragon levels account-wide, and allowing players the freedom to allocate Paragon Points however they want within the category (defense, offense, core, or utility) that each specific level's point is awarded. Catch more details about Paragon 2.0 on the official site. [Thanks to Wesley for the tip!]

If you're not satisfied taking out thugs with merely a katana or a kick, then Paragon Studios has your answer: Street Justice. It's a brand-new powerset just released in City of Heroes Freedom, available to Scrappers, Brutes, Stalkers, and Tankers. It looks like a flashier mashup of the Martial Arts and Super Strength sets, and according to a post by Paragon's Phil "Synapse" Zeleski, Street Justice is like many of the newer CoH sets in that it comes with a special mechanic, in this case, combo levels and finishing moves that give more freedom to the player than does the similar gameplay hook of Dual Blades. Street Justice is available for purchase in the game's cash shop for 800 Paragon Points (about $10 US). It is one of two new powersets not granted freely to VIP subscribers. Check out the video after the break to peek before you buy.

It's a busy weekend over at City of Heroes, as not only is the Freedom program in full swing, but Paragon Studios is prepping a new replacement refer-a-friend program to rope in as many stray cattle players as possible. Current City of Heroes VIP players will soon once again be able to send out invites to friends, family members, and unusually intelligent heifers who have either never played the game before or who are former players whose accounts have been inactive for over 90 days. If the recipient decides to become a VIP player (i.e., subscriber), then both the inviter and invitee will find themselves the proud possessors of 500 additional Paragon Points to spend in the in-game store. Friends can either be invited through the NCsoft website or the Paragon Market. While the program is not yet operational, Paragon Studios promises to let us know the moment it goes live.

Yesterday, we reminded City of Heroes fans that time is running out for those hoping to get a free peek at the game before its F2P relaunch later this year, as the existing free trial program is due for a dismantle. But according to a press release issued today, Paragon Studios has another way for frugal superheroes to suit up in their favorite spandex: Later this week, [Paragon] will be bringing players a very special Declaration of Freedom sale. This limited time offer will bring the base price of City of Heroes to $1.99 on the official NCsoft online store. [As i]f the price drop weren't enough, the purchase will give all active subscribers access to 400 Paragon Points per month, which can be redeemed when City of Heroes Freedom launches. Unlike many other CoH digital codes, this one cannot be applied to an existing account, so players should banish thoughts of haxing this deal for piles of easy Paragon Points. Of course, it's never been a better time to create a new account or get into the game ahead of the free-to-play conversion, since subscribers are already accruing points! The sale kicks off on August 17th at 9 a.m. EDT, and you've got until August 30th at 3 a.m. EDT to take advantage of it.
