Facebook has offered photo sharing in one form another since shortly after the site's launch, but while certain features have been added over the years, such as tagging and downloads, image formatting has remained mostly unchanged. Until today. Facebook has announced that it will roll out a new tool for thumbing through galleries across the site, presenting photos in a new square format with the option to "highlight" certain shots to increase their footprint on the page. Google+ users may recognize the format, which bears some resemblance to the tool on that site. We haven't seen the feature go live on Facebook just yet, but eager social networkers can preview it today at the source link below.

I've been using Realmac Software's Rapidweaver to maintain a site for my kids for a while now. While I've enjoyed the experience, there is something that has bothered me: It's kind of a pain to update the site from more than one computer. For instance, I have a couple of iPhoto albums set up as galleries on the site. Now, since I set them up on Computer A, Rapidweaver complains that the albums are missing when I open the site on Computer B. This really annoyed me until I found rapidflickr. As you may have guessed, rapidflickr is a Rapidweaver plug-in that allows you to create galleries from images you have stored on your Flickr account. Simply enter your Flicker user name (you can store more than one for easy access), the tags of the photos you're after, the number of photos you'd like to retrieve at a time and you're off. You can even limit you search to photos uploaded within a certain date range. Add text to your new page and you've eliminated the annoying "photo album not found" error.Rapidflickr requires Mac OS 10.4 or later and Rapidweaver 3.2. A single license will cost you $9.95US.
