Trine 2: Complete Story and Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate hit PS Plus in tomorrow's North American update, as the first month to add two PS4 games gets going early. Pixeljunk SU is a cross-buy deal, so if you get the subterranean shoot-em-up on Plus you'll net it on Vita too. Over on PS3, NBA 2K14 also gets the Plus treatment this week. As ever, the influx of newbies forces old-timers out of the Plus-house, and that's happening next week. You've got until June 10 to "purchase" and tie up Skullgirls Encore, Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark, Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut, Payday 2 and XCOM Enemy Unknown. Sony is adjusting its Instant Game Collection schedule for PlayStation Plus starting in July, promising to dish out six free games per month. The games will be divided evenly among its three active platforms, two for each of PS4, PS3 and Vita, and will all debut on the first Tuesday of every month, lasting until the first Tuesday of the following month. Current freebies on PS Plus that had a "nice, long stint" will be gradually phased out in the coming weeks. The House of PlayStation also announced the six games that will be free for the month of June, starting next Tuesday. PS4 owners will have access to Trine 2: Complete Story and PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate, PS3 players can download NBA 2K14 and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Vita owners will get Terraria and Mutant Mudds Deluxe for the month. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is Cross-Buy eligible, so Vita owners will be able to download that game as well. [Image: Sony]

Q-Games' twin-stick action-adventure game PixelJunk Shooter is coming to Windows, Mac and Linux on November 11 via Steam and other digital download services. Originally released as a PlayStation 3 exclusive in 2009, PixelJunk Shooter challenges players to rescue stranded crewmates in a hostile alien environment, leveraging foreign elements to solve puzzles along the way. The PC version of PixelJunk Shooter will launch at $8.99.

Despite being quite the success on PSN, Journey didn't take the top spot on the PSN and PS3 download charts for May. No, that honor goes to The Walking Dead – the first episode in Telltale's newest game managed to topple last month's top dog I Am Alive, and was followed by Journey and PixelJunk Shooter (thanks to a sale) in May, respectively. On the PS Vita side, Mortal Kombat managed to best all comers, unseating Escape Plan, which fell to third place. Taking second was Table Top Tanks, the AR tank battle game that debuted in late May.

Q-Games released some welcome news for those of you eagerly anticipating PixelJunk Shooter 2, as well as those who don't know whether or not they should be eagerly anticipating it. The sequel to the PSN shooter is "full steam ahead, anchors away and all that ... commotion to that order," Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert said in a PlayStation Blog post. He promised that not only will Shooter 2 be larger than the original game, but that "it will have some features that are new to the PixelJunk series in general." If you are not intrigued about the sequel simply because you haven't experienced Shooter, Q-Games has something for you too. On May 25, Cuthbert said, a demo of the original PixelJunk Shooter will be released on the PlayStation Network. If you like that, you can buy PixelJunk Shooter, like it, and then join us all in waiting for 2. %Gallery-93253%

  • PixelJunk Shooter 2 revealed in July PlayStation: The Official Magazine

While Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood may hold the cover spot of the next issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, the July 2010 issue will also feature a "lovefest feature" on PixelJunk Shooter 2, Q-Games' not-yet-announced-but-very-real PSN sequel, according to a Tweet from EIC Gary Steinman. Considering the numerous hints of a sequel, we're unsurprised that the game's existence is confirmed by an uneventful preview of a preview. (It seems Sony is intent on making this a trend.) If Sony shows this off at its E3 press conference, just try to act shocked, okay?

  • Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert taking aim at more PixelJunk Shooter

There's no doubt about it -- Q-Games head Dylan Cuthbert is very much interested in making more content for the latest in the PixelJunk series of games, PixelJunk Shooter. When he spoke recently to G4TV, Cuthbert said, "for PixelJunk Shooter we still have a ton of ideas on the drawing board and the engine has lots of potential we want to use before moving onto our next idea." He also teased the possibility of a full-on sequel, front-loading his last statement with, "normally sequels are just a re-hashing of the ideas in the original." Given the PixelJunk's all-over-the-place history with DLC and re-releases and Encore versions, we poked Cuthbert for clarification. When we asked which of the aforementioned options we might see for PixelJunk Shooter, Cuthbert told us: "It hasn't been decided yet, as it depends on how much content we end up making. Whatever we end up making, though, it will be even better than the first installment with loads of new stuff. (Obviously I know what some of that stuff is, but I can't say -- all I can say is that fans will be extremely pleased.)" So, there you have it, folks! We're gonna see ... umm ... something else from Shooter.

  • PixelJunk creator disappointed by cheap gamers

Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert doesn't like you, cheap gamer. When quizzed by Develop, the PixelJunk creator described one thing that disappointed him most about the industry: gamers that refuse to open up their wallets. "Gamers complaining about our games being too expensive at 10 dollars. I'm not sure this is an industry problem, but it seems ridiculous that people complain about that price point." Cuthbert seems particularly sensitive about this issue, noting the rampant piracy of PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe on PSP earlier this year. The naysayers seem few and far apart, though. PixelJunk Shooter went on to become the second best-selling game on PSN in December. Some members of the Joystiq community have even suggested the game is worth "more than $10." Obviously, the studio is doing well enough with its PSN endeavors, as Cuthbert confirms that "more PixelJunk is definitely in the pipeline." With PixelJunk Dungeons and presumably PixelJunk Shooter Encore in the works, the indie studio clearly has a lot to work on at the moment.

Red Faction: Guerrilla Arriving approximately seven months late to the party, I didn't play RFG until earlier this month when I desperately cobbled together 2009's game releases for a massive pre-GOTY playstravaganza. That marathon came to a long pause while I smashed through the many structures of Mars with my trusty sledgehammer, constantly hearing "Space A$&%*#&" playing along the way in my mind. Sure, RFG was a bit rough around the edges, but what it lacked in mechanical prowess was more than made up for by the sheer amount of childlike joy I experienced while demolishing everything in my path.

You've been here for three weeks now without ever actually talking Shooter strategies and your whispers are starting to become deafening. "Why does Mr. McElroy take such long naps?" we hear you ask, or, "Why did I have to play $3,000 for this?" On this, our graduation day, we have two messages for you. 1. Watch the video after the break and do exactly that. And 2. The magic was inside you the whole time. Now, if a few of you would just stand on your desks and say, "Oh captain, my captain," we'll be on our way. ... Nobody? Fine. [Via Twitter]

On the eve of the launch of Q-Games' latest super-stylish opus, PixelJunk Shooter, the studio's president, Dylan Cuthbert, decided to drop a new trailer for the title on PlayStation.Blog. We've posted it above -- as you can clearly see, it contains all of the requisite elements to fulfill the game's moniker: There's pixelated enemies, a great deal of of shooting, and plenty of junk to aim the aforementioned shooting at. The blog post also contained good news for thrifty fans of the franchise -- on Dec. 22, Q-Games will bundle PixelJunk Eden, Monsters and Racers together into a single $19.99 bundle. Sounds like a pretty sweet package if you're hoping to receive a new PS3 from ol' Saint Nick this holiday season.

Q-Games' latest entry in its PSN PixelJunk series will arrive on PlayStation Network worldwide next Thursday, December 10. Shooter follows the legacy of previous PixelJunk games, by adding a modern twist to old-school gameplay. In Shooter's case, the twist happens to be realistic liquid physics, as players manipulate the flow of water, lava and ice. Like Monsters and Eden before it, PixelJunk Shooter is expected to cost $10 or the foreign currency equivalent. %Gallery-70360% Source – 'Tis the PixelJunk Season... This may come as a surprise to many of you, but Twitter is actually good for something other than the distribution of DLC codes and pictures starlets take of themselves in bikinis. Every once in a great while, it's good for a tiny sliver of news, such as when Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert tweets that the company's next title, Pixeljunk Shooter, is slated to arrive in Japan this December. Cuthbert then tweeted a picture of himself in a bikini. Yeah, it got weird.
