DosPara's Prime Note Cresion NA "netbook" pairs Ion with Atom 330
Apparently not one to be confined to the usual "netbook" considerations, Japan's DosPara has now gone out and broken a few rules with its new Prime Note Cresion NA model, which not only packs a larger than usual 12-inch display, but a nettop-specific dual-core Atom 330 processor as well. That gets paired with NVIDIA's Ion chipset, along with 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, your choice of built-in optical drive, a memory card reader, and an HDMI port, to name but a few less than standard netbook features. Of course, all of that comes with a fairly significant increase to the size and weight of the laptop, but at least the ¥59,980 price tag (or just about $600) isn't too unreasonable.[Via Netbooknews.com]
Dospara doles out Atom-powered Prime Note Cartina UM netbook
It's been forever and a day since we heard from Dospara, but as it typically does, it's just hanging around and waiting to see what catches on before it dives in. Case in point: here we have the Prime Note Cartina UM, an 8.9-inch netbook that's hitting alongside the second and third iteration of everyone else's. You could likely guess the specifications in your sleep, but we'll humor you anyway; we've got a 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 120GB hard drive, a 1,024 x 600 panel, 802.11b/g WiFi, a battery good for two hours and a mysterious Linux build pre-installed. You won't find an optical drive bundled in, but you will find a ¥39,980 ($413) price tag should you venture over to Japan.[Via Liliputing]
DosPara offers up mid-range Prime Note Chronos laptop, with or without OS
If you're interested in picking a svelte new Merom-powered lappie, but just aren't down with the traditional Windows XP approach that essentially every manufacturer in the world forces upon you, DosPara feels your pain. Hot on the heels of its 13-inch NW2 and 15.4-inch Prime Note Chronos NR2, the forthcoming (and yet-to-be-named) successor sports a typical black / silver enclosure and gives you the choice of having an operating system pre-installed or not. Beneath the hood lies a 1.66GHz Intel T5500 Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 100GB SATA hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 256MB graphics card, dual-layer DVD burner, built-in 802.11a/b/g, and a 4-in-1 flash card reader. Additionally, the unit boasts a WSXGA+ widescreen LCD and a bevy of ports including PCMCIA, 4-pin FireWire, VGA / S-Video output, Ethernet, 56k modem, audio in / out, and four USB 2.0 ports to boot. The 6.4-pound machine will reportedly only last "three hours" on a single charge, but it's not like we expected a gaming-centric laptop to carry you through the workday anyway. Nevertheless, the impending Chronos should be available soon for around €1,000 ($1,282).
DosPara's Prime Note Altair TB: a 14-inch laptop for low-end gaming
With a name like the Prime Note Altair TB, you'd think this new 14-incher would pack all kinds of swank. You'd be wrong, however, so wrong. This budget box is heading to DOSPARA shops in Japan courtesy of Third Wave Corp targeting the low-end gaming market, uh, if there is such a thing. As such, you get the yawntastic specs of a 1.3MHz Celeron M 350 proc, 40GB 5400RPM UltraATA disk, and DVD multi-drive coupled with a WXGA (1280x728) resolution on a glossy screen, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and built-in ATI RADEON Xpress 200M graphics. Hell, it might just pull-off duty as your low-end, 5.3-pound portable gaming machine after all. And that low (for Japan) pre-order price of ¥87,580 or about $733 (sans OS) certainly helps the cause.[Via Impress]
