We've discovered the real reason why Funimation's new anime movie, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, was delayed until the end of December: Vega's massive neck must take forever to animate. Seriously, that thing is like an entire Christmas ham. His windpipe must be the size of a baseball bat.

Paragon Lost, Funimation's DVD and Blu-ray James Vega vehicle, set in the Mass Effect universe, has had its November 13 release date pushed back to December 28, according to the film's official twitter account.Don't be disheartened, though. While this does mean that the movie won't be ready on Christmas morning, pre-orders are still open. So, just do what we do when it comes to gifting: print out the receipt, roll it up into an empty lipstick tube and then bury it in a series of nested boxes.

  • Dante's Inferno anime remains faithful to Visceral source

With talent from "Blood the Last Vampire" and "Ergo Proxy" (oh, and "Samauri Champloo") involved, it should've been clear that "Dante's Inferno: The Animated Epic" was going to be sickeningly violent. A newly released trailer for the straight-to-video anime spin-off reveals that this Dante's Inferno project isn't a single film, but rather a compilation of animated shorts, much like "The Animatrix," "Batman: Gotham Knight" and, most recently, "Halo: Legends."We're pretty certain Dante Alighieri is rolling in his grave right now, as this anthology of multiple interpretations of Visceral Games' interpretation of the original epic poem is so very far removed from the source. But hey, it's Alighieri's fault for not having the foresight to write about someone's head getting chopped in half!Expect The Animated Epic to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray in February, the same month as the game.

Production I.G is likely a name many anime fans recognize, but, for the rest of you, know the studio has done amazing things in games, too. The company did the animations on Wario Land: Shake It!, and has done a lot with the Tales franchise, among other things. Now, it's taking on EA's Dante's Inferno, as the studio confirmed it's working on that animated project we heard about in March. The info was revealed during an Anime Expo panel this past Sunday (via ANN), with the promise of more info come Comic-Con on July 23. As fans of Production I.G's work, we're anxious to see more. Now, if you'll excuse us, we need to watch that animated scene from Kill Bill about 800 times.

Back during E3, I talked about how Nintendo had to actually kick me out of their demo area, because I wouldn't stop playing Wario Land: Shake It! and, to be honest, that was true. The game was absolutely amazing when I got my hands on it. Would my favorable impressions be the same when I got my hands on the final product? Well, now that I've had a few days to plow through it, I'm ready to determine that.%Gallery-26293%

  • Wario Land: Look at screens of it!

A game starring the lumpy, flatulent Wario is an odd candidate for such an appellation (as is any Wii game, for that matter), but Wario Land: Shake It! may be one of the best-looking games ever. It is an absolute delight to look at screens of the beautiful Production I.G.-animated platformer. GamePro has an expansive gallery of screens featuring the man in the yellow hat running, jumping, shoulder tackling, shaking birds, carrying robots, being on fire, and falling on his face -- all done very smoothly and gracefully. Sort of. We hope Wario manages to shake some treasure out of Wii owners soon, because we'd love to keep looking at this kind of thing.[Via OMGNintendo]

  • Sky Crawlers still beautiful, still Japanese

These latest screens from The Sky Crawlers only serve to cement what we already knew: this game is absolutely gorgeous, and probably still very much out of our hands. The game is set as a tie-in to the film from Production I.G, which is based on the books by noted Japanese author Hiroshi Mori. Since we know of no plans for an English version of Mamoru Oshii's film, the game's localization seems less likely, but that doesn't mean we can't hope! And after seeing the new images, we're hoping something fierce. We'd take the movie, too. Just sayin'.%Gallery-18921%
