Amazon wants you to get out of the house. We know it's hot enough to fry bacon on the asphalt outside, but you're permanently indenting your desk chair and the cat thinks your pajama pants are a scratching post. Reddit will survive without you for a day, we promise. Fine -- you can take your 3DS. And here, have some amazing deals on portable games too; just get out. Amazon's Summer Road Trip Handheld Gaming Event features some sweet deals on PSP, DS and 3DS titles, with some games 50 percent off. For example, on 3DS, Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition is $30 and BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 is $20; on PSP, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is $15, and for DS, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is $14 and Disney Jonas is only $10 (oh yes). We don't know when this sale will end, so jump on it now. Please. Your skin is turning transparent.

Gamers certainly aren't strangers to memorabilia, doubly so for figurines, but this Professor Layton statue from NCSX has one thing going for it those others don't: you can actually afford it. We're used to seeing those high-dollar Samus statues and Capcom's ridiculously-priced (and ridiculously nice!) Street Fighter series, so when we caught wind of this $30 Professor Layton companion, we knew we had to post it up. So ... yeah, that's what this is. What? You were expecting more? OK, here's a riddle: What's 120 words, loves you and thinks you're the sexiest person on the planet? Head past the break for the answer! [Via Go Nintendo]

Looking over this week's releases, we're feeling a lot like last week: empty and cold inside. Unless you're in Australia, there pretty much isn't anything worth checking out. We're in kind of a GBA mood, though (after reading JC's Virtually Overlooked last night), so this weekend will probably have us dusting off our copy of Metroid Fusion or something. What about you all? Have any good GBA games that you could play while waiting for some new DS games to enjoy? Or do you have something else in mind? What are you playing?%Gallery-12504%

  • DS Fanboy Review: Professor Layton and the Curious Village

When you think about puzzle games, titles that involve abstract geometrical shapes (like Tetris) are probably the first things that come to mind. Professor Layton, though, is a different breed of puzzle game, one that you might not be used to. This charming title makes you solve actual brainteasers -- the kind that make you want to laugh and cry at the same time. It's hard to imagine a game being completely devoted to puzzle solving. Usually, games will include puzzle-solving elements, but they won't revolve around the whole concept. Yet, Professor Layton manages to do this in a way that's enticing, entertaining, and addicting, showing us that even the simplest ideas can become the best of games if handled properly. Wow, that was quick. Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the DS has only been out in North America for a day, and already downloadable content for the title is available through the DS's Wi-Fi Connection service.Using the game's Wi-Fi service, players can download the first of many extra puzzles, pictured above, which developer Level-5 promises to deliver on a weekly basis. This same feature is included in the Japanese version of the title, which has seen consistent weekly releases of new puzzle content since its release nearly one year ago. All told, that's a lot of extra puzzle bang for your buck.[Via DS Fanboy]
