Breakfast Topic: Your wish
When I was first exploring the Wrath of the Lich King beta, I thought that the Dalaran Wishing Fountain was one of the coolest things ever. I'm an avid angler in WoW, and I'm a huge lore geek. Combining the two is a recipe for success, I think! I really enjoyed the ability to get a little glimpse into the mind of various lore characters, and it was offered up in a pretty interactive way. It's not only the fun quotes, but a sense of discovery accompanies each new coin.The contents of the fountain has inspired a question that's been making the rounds through the WoW community: If you had a coin in that fountain, what would it say? What wish or musing would be left on it? I posed the question to the WoW Insider team to see what they would come up with, ranging from the silly to the serious, from speaking in-character to speaking as a player. The geekiest prom that ever was
Sure, you could make jokes that the folks responsible for making this prom with a Mario theme aren't going to have any chance at getting their "end of prom treat," but what we found interesting was the fact that the faculty would even allow this. Heck, our prom didn't even have a theme, it was just darkness and a disco ball. So, kudos to the teachers and school staff that let the prom attendees put whatever spin on their prom that they wanted.
Series3 PROM hack
The Series3 has been out for 3 or 4 months now and while it is great, everyone is still waiting for long awaited features like Multi-Room Viewing and TiVoToGo. Well Narf54321 of DealDatabase.com isn't waiting around and has figured out a way to hack the PROM chip which is very similar to hacking previous TiVos. Unfortunately this is less than the ideal way to hack a TiVo since it requires soldering and programming a PROM chip. Most people who hack their TiVo use a hacked Kernel instead to get around the TiVo's protections. Now before you run off following the read link, keep in mind that the DealDatabase developers forum isn't for n00bs and they won't take kindly to "how much to hack my TiVo" posts. While some hacks like TiVoWebPlus have been applied, others like content extraction are unconfirmed.
