Atlus continues to pump Shin Megami Tensei PS2 games onto PS3, with Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon coming to PSN in North America next week. The news comes via the PlayStation Blogcast, which didn't reveal any price details. The 2009 entry was a sequel to the Devil Summoner comeback game on PS2, and one of the last to be released for the console alone. Sadly, the downloadable PS2 Classics version is somewhat unlikely to come with the Jack Frost doll that accompanied physical copies. Devil Summoner 2 is the latest Shin Megami Tensei game to join the PS2 Classics line-up, with Nocturne and Persona 4 both hitting the PS3 in recent months. It's almost as if there's a whole bunch of new SMT games coming up. [Image: Atlus]

A content rating for an unannounced PlayStation 3 version of Atlus' PS2 JRPG Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 has appeared on the ESRB's website, hinting at a future re-release via the PlayStation Network. A PlayStation 2 Classics version of Persona 4 would complete the series on the PlayStation Network, joining downloadable PSOne versions of Persona and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, the PlayStation 2 game Persona 3 FES, and PSP remakes of Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 3. Persona 4 previously saw an expanded re-release on the PlayStation Vita in 2012. PlayStation 2 classic The Mark of Kri is coming to the PlayStation 3 via PSN on September 24, a "Making of" blog post on the PlayStation Blog detailing the game's development revealed. The Mark of Kri first launched on the PS2 in North America in 2002, developed by Sony's San Diego Studio. The title later arrived in Europe in June 2003. The series continued in 2005 when now-defunct developer Bottlerocket Entertainment released Rise of the Kasai, a critically panned follow-up to the original PS2 favorite. The PlayStation Blog did not reveal a price for the Mark of Kri re-release. On average, PS2 classics are priced at $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.

Capcom Fighting Evolution advances to PSN in next week's North American update. Following in the footsteps of Capcom vs. SNK 2, the 2004 crossover is coming as a PS2 Classic, meaning it'll only be playable on PS3 and won't feature any additions like online multiplayer. The news comes via the PlayStation Blogcast, with no details on pricing. CFE's 23 characters stem from Street Fighter 2, SF 3, SF Alpha, the Darkstalkers series, and Red Earth, minus the exception of bow-tied psychic Ingrid who the game introduced.

The PlayStation 2 version of Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001 will land on PSN as a PS2 Classic next week, the Official PlayStation Blogcast has announced. No specific pricing information was given, but we feel safe in assuming that it'll probably cost around $10, like most other PS2 Classics on the service. Known as Capcom vs. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 in Japan, the game originally hit arcades in (you guessed it) 2001, and was ported to Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox thereafter. The game includes 48 characters from Capcom and SNK franchises such as Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Rival Schools, Fatal Fury, Darkstalkers and others.

The Warriors, Rockstar's 2005 game based on the 1979 cult movie, is coming to PSN next week. As per typical PS Store updates, it arrives in North America on May 28 for $9.99, and then in Europe the day after for £7.99/€9.99. Rockstar Toronto reportedly worked on a spiritual successor to The Warriors, an Xbox 360 game called We Are The Mods. According to CVG, it was similar in style to The Warriors' urban brawling, but set in mid-1960s England, during the Mods and Rockers era. Since that never came to fruition, the closest you're going to get to a current-gen Warriors game, outside of CTXM's The Warriors: Street Brawl, is next week's re-release. Like all PS2 Classics on PSN, it's only playable on PS3.

Rockstar North's stealth slash slaughter game, Manhunt, launches on PSN next week on May 14, available in the PS2 Classics section for $10. European PSN users will have to wait until Wednesday, when their store is updated. In the announcement post, Rockstar also says the next game up for re-release is The Warriors. Manhunt joins Bully, Midnight Club 3, Red Dead Revolver and various Grand Theft Auto games, all available on PSN now. The PS2 Classic generated much controversy when it launched in 2003 for its gruesome murder scenarios and animations – a few examples include suffocating enemies with plastic bags, strangling them with wire and eviscerating others with table saws. In 2007, Rockstar produced a sequel in Manhunt 2, which was banned in the UK for almost six months before it was cleared for launch.

Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson put the company's formerly tentative plan into this timetable in a post on the Capcom-Unity forums. "Mind you, if Sony chooses, that could move," Svensson warned, adding "it is later than I had originally anticipated already."The other fighting game due for PS2 Classics release, the troubled Capcom Fighting Evolution, is still without a release date.

Both Capcom Fighting Evolution (Capcom Fighting Jam in Japan) and Capcom vs SNK 2 are available on PlayStation Network in Japan, leaving fighting fans in the US wanting of what was once a bad business idea. Capcom senior VP Christian Svensson offers a crumb of hope in the Capcom forums, saying both will be here "eventually."Svensson says we should hear more about both "next year," and that the "timing will be quite different though from Japan." We can't be sure what he means by the latter statement, but since both saw their reemergence as PS2 Classics on Japan's PSN months apart, it's possible there won't be such a gap between releases when they finally arrive in these parts.

In this post-Double Fine Kickstarter world, there's nothing more nostalgic than buying a game for a set price and then playing it immediately – unless that game is itself nostalgic, like, say, Psychonauts.Next Tuesday, you'll have the opportunity to experience Raz's mental adventure in a new venue, when it is released on PS3 in North America as a PS2 Classic. This miracle of digital distribution is possible thanks to Double Fine's acquisition of the Psychonauts publishing rights last year.

When ESRB ratings for Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City on PlayStation 3 sprang up earlier this year, it seemed assured that the games were headed to PSN's PS2 classics section. Indeed, Grand Theft Auto 3 is joining the no-frills lineup next Tuesday for $10.The news was revealed on the latest PlayStation podcast among other PSN releases for next week. Like all PS2 classics, GTA3 isn't getting an HD update or Trophy support. Also, that Vice City ESRB listing hasn't panned out just yet, but we're sure it's on the way.

Haunting Ground, Capcom's PlayStation 2 horror game, has been rated by the ESRB for the PS3, suggesting an eventual digital re-launch. Haunting Ground's rating remains "M for Murder" – oh, that's "M for Mature," sorry – and contains all the warnings that made the first game so horrifically lovely.Haunting Ground follows Fiona and her dog Hewie as they attempt to escape a haunted castle, solving puzzles and defeating enemies along the way. The game seems poised to launch either as a PS2 Classic or an HD remake; Capcom has yet to verify.

XBLA sees the release of Fez this week, but PSN is getting FES. That's just one letter off! Well, one letter, the words "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" and the number 3. Other than that, totally the same deal.Persona 3: FES, the updated 2008 edition of the demons-in-modern-Japan RPG, comes to the PlayStation 3 this week as part of the underused PS2 Classics service. It'll be a good opportunity to get familiar with the cast of characters before beating the hell out of them in Persona 4 Arena (which features some of the P3 cast). Or, if you prefer to think about it this way, you'll get to play a fantastic RPG with a unique storyline and stuff.
