Independent UK magazines Xbox World and PSM3 will release its final issues on December 12, Future Publishing tells CVG. Future has plans to focus on digital growth and will redistribute all employees of the canceled magazines to other areas of the company.Xbox World announced its closure on Facebook, writing, "In all seriousness – we're really, really sad to see the mag end. We've always had loads of fun making it, and we hope you've had fun reading it. We're working on the final issue now, cramming in as many fond memories of the mag as we can."This year Future US announced it would shut down Nintendo Power and PlayStation: The Official Magazine, both with final issues planned for this holiday.

Look, PSM3, can't you just be happy with the crowded slate of titles we're already expecting in 2011? Do you really need to start stoking the fires for 2012? Whether we want it to or not, the UK-based magazine is fanning the flames on rumors of a new God of War for PS3 early, citing a source who claims the game will be out in September of 2012. Sure, we've heard murmurs about another installment in the franchise, and Sony Santa Monica is supposedly looking into online functionality in a future title, but who says the studio has to make another God of War? It's not like the last one sold that well or anything. What? Oh.

If you're one of those people who judges the value of games based on numerological qualifiers, you'll be pleased to know that a few print publications have had their Uncharted 2 review scores posted online. Surprising nobody, PlayStation: The Official Magazine (which features Nate Drake on its upcoming October issue) awarded the game a perfect 5 out of 5 score and wreathed it with the magazine's monthly "Editor's Choice" award. However, French publication PSM3 really went above and beyond with the accolades, giving the game a score of 21 ... out of 20. The mag summed up the game with a single word: "M-O-N-S-T-R-E-U-X!!!" According to the understanding we gleaned during our one semester of French tutoring, this can be translated to mean, "my strudel!" Impossible math and random pastry shout-outs? Man, French game reviews are weird.

  • Dante's Inferno preview reveals God of War style gameplay

The latest issue of British magazine PSM3 has a ten-page preview of EA's upcoming hell-em-up Dante's Inferno, which it calls "Dead Space meets God Of War in hell." CVG has pulled some interesting tidbits from the article, including a claim that "button-for-button the controls are identical to [God of War's]." In fact, Dante's Inferno sounds very similar to God of War in many ways. Health and mana orbs are dropped when enemies die and are also found in chests, which are "opened by holding Circle." The game also features QTEs and combos utilizing the protagonist's light and heavy attacks. Apparently, it's the subject matter that sets Dante's Inferno apart from God of War. It is "altogether more unpleasant," where "twisted creatures burst from doorways, lava spews from inverted crosses and bottomless fiery pits yawn deep beneath your feet."If God of War III doesn't make it out this year, Dante's Inferno may be just the thing to tide action fans over. If GoW III does make it out in '09, however ... well, we're not expecting Dante to beat Kratos at his own game, are we? Check out the latest issue of PSM3 for the full preview.

After first appearing in February 2007, a full five months before the games release, the rumor that Bioshock would be coming to PS3 has been debunked and revived more times than we can count (and we can count quite high!). Now, however, the time for rumors is over as the cover of UK mag PSM3 has not only confirmed that the title will be made available for the PS3, but that it will be a somehow superior version of the game. We won't find out in what way until the magazine arrives on news stands on June 5th.While it may be a few weeks before we get any details on what makes the PS3 version different, it's nice to finally get some closure regarding this confusing "will it, won't it" rumor. However, the game has been out for over six months now, so we're hoping for some significant changes in order to make the port worthwhile. Let's be honest here, most gamers have played this on the 360 and those who didn't have played it on the PC. Right?

  • Dorky PSM3 editors get real, live, working PS3 to play with

Who woulda' thunk it? After all these years of rumors, delays, fanboy wars and beefy dev kits, somebody actually got a flesh n' blood PS3 with real, live blinky LED lights and even some of those "video games" all the kids are talking about these days. The lucky recipients of this system -- and subsequent takers of many nerdy pics -- are the PSM3 magazine peeps, so props to them for verifying the true existence of this mystical console, and for being a bunch of lucky bastages. As for their impressions, they're pretty positive. Apparently the system runs incredibly quietly, the "SIXAXIS" joypad is light (as ever) and quite responsive, and start up and load times are ultra-speedy. Of course, the console is also "heavy like a planet" and the shiny console easily succumbs to dust and fingerprints, along with being quite difficult to photograph -- though we're pretty sure you're not going to spend a large percentage of your time snapping pics of the thing when there's "TrueHD" entertainment to be had. Be sure to peep their vid of the PS3 in action after the break.
