Say what you will about Steven Seagal but the '80s action star is still somehow able to draw headlines in 2020, even when he's not premiering his latest passion project. Granted, yes, those headlines most recently have involved the SEC and a $314,000 settlement for him not disclosing that his endorsements for a digital currency were compensated for by the company selling them. Regardless, let's take a look at some more headlines of surprisingly persistent products from this past week.

The newest Timex Ironman smartwatch, the R300 GPS, bundles the workout essentials -- on-wrist heart rate monitoring, guided coaching, a range of performance metrics and water resistance up to 30 meters -- and avoids adding unnecessary extras that sometimes drive smartwatch prices up. The result is that the R300 GPS costs just $120, and the company claims the battery will last up to 25 days, as long as you only use 20 hours of GPS.

Contain yourselves, folks, this is a civilized society! Please, just remain calm and calmly file into the MetroPCS or US Cellular store to pick up one of these two gems, the r300 flip and the r610 slider from Samsung. Neither one is likely to turn any heads, but the prices are right; the $129 (on contract, naturally) r620 does EV-DO with a 1.3 megapixel cam plus A2DP and microSD expansion, while the lower-end 1xRTT r300 gets flashy with a red exterior but keeps a tight lid on the cash outlay with a $109 asking price. Get 'em both now.[Via Phone Scoop]Read - Samsung r300 for MetroPCSRead - Samsung r610 for US Cellular

Asus has been getting into all kinds of wild activity as of late, from its Eee ultra-cheap laptop, to wooden concept computers, and of course, entry into the GPS market. Well, hot on the heels of the R600 (the company's first foray into navigation) comes the R300 and R700, two new GPS / PMPs that do just about what you'd expect, and maybe a little bit more. The R300 has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 400MHz Samsung CPU, 128MB of RAM, FM tuner, Bluetooth 2.0, can playback MP3, WMA, AAC audio and MPEG-4, H.263 video, and sports a microSD slot. The R700 has a larger, 4.3-inch touchscreen, and an integrated RDS-TMC traffic receiver, though otherwise the specs are pretty much the same as the R300. No word on price, but the units are expected to arrive sometime in November, at least in Europe.[Via Unwired View]
