Apple peripheral giant Griffin Technology announced plans today to develop radio SHARK HD, an HD variant of their popular, fin-based, time-shifting radio SHARK device. Coupling a memorable design (uh, it's a shark fin) with a digital AM/FM tuner -- delivering near CD-quality FM and near FM-quality AM -- and a software package for recording off radio and syncing to an iPod, we imagine content owners must be thrilled with the announcement. To pacify the suits, Griffin will add the ability to purchase songs heard on digital radio through the iTunes Music Store ... which we're absolutely positive is going to be a popular feature. No word on pricing, but the radio SHARK HD should be poking its fin above water this summer.[Via Your Tech Weblog]

CenterStage and BackStage make up a dynamic duo which gives FrontRow a run for its money. The free software suite reached version 0.6 today, bringing with it some exciting new features and Intel support. Media management app BackStage got madeover with a new unified UI, while FrontRow-esque component CenterStage now features support for the Apple remote, Elgato eyeTV, and Griffin RadioShark, as well as a new UI for photo browsing. While the programs might not be as polished and feature rich as MediaCentral, the price can't be beat, and new features are being added rapidly. Via HardMac
