  • iriver NV mini bike edition routes two-wheeled warriors

iriver's NV mini has been out and about for nearly a full year now, so it makes sense to think that some sort of successor was just about ready to pop. Sure enough, a next-gen version (of sorts) has been revealed, with the NV mini bike edition (₩188,000; $156) looking to help those out there who suck it up and bike to work / school / etcetera rather than hailing a cab. The 3.5-inch touchscreen (320 x 240) is unchanged in terms of size, but the UI has been tweaked to provide larger glimpses at what's most important. It's also designed to respond to gloved fingers, and the "exercise" mode keeps track of distance traveled, speed, time traveled and calories burned. Other specs include an SDHC card slot, 3.5 millimeter headphone socket and Windows CE 5.0 underneath, with an on sale date of "right now" in South Korea.[Via Slashgear]

  • iriver P35 WiFi PMP announced for browser loving P.ple

After a bit of a tease, the folks at reigncom have taken the wraps off their new P35 personal media player. Having mastered good product design long ago, iriver is now intent on bringing its interface and user experience up to snuff. After all, anyone can make a rectangular, touchscreen media box these days. The P35 features the SPINN navigator we've seen before, an accelerometer for automatic portrait and landscape orientation, and ships in a 8GB basic model or a 16GB version with options for DMB television (with mini remote control) and/or 802.11b/g WiFi. The 128.3 x 79.7 x 17.8-mm white slab comes packing a 4.3-inch LCD with 480 x 272 pixel display and rich audio and video codec support that iriver players are synonymous with. It also sports a full browser (WiFi version only), support for UCI widgets (with open API), and even an "FTP server" if we're translating the Korean announcement correctly. And the new batch of seemingly finger-friendly UI shots are just as tantalizing in their simplicity as they were in the tease. Unfortunately, we'll have to reserve judgment on the all important "experience" until we get one of these pups in-hand. On sale now in South Korea.[Thanks, KR]

  • iriver WavePhone hits Korea ahead of schedule

Well it looks like folks in Korea may not have to wait until March to get their hands on iriver's first cellphone after all, as the WavePhone (previously known simply as the "wave") is apparently now available (or will soon be available) at ten iriver shops in the country. That limited roll-out is apparently being done ahead of the full-fledged launch including a number of larger stores, which will presumably still happen in March, although there's unfortunately still no word of a release outside of Korea (or word of a price). As you can see above, the folks at AVING also managed to get their hands on the phone and, naturally, they've provided plenty pics of it, which you can check out by hitting up the link below.Read - ReigncomRead - AVING[Via Electronista]

  • iriver's E100 reaches Season 2 on the Who Cares channel

Really? Was it just the choice of color holding you back from purchasing iriver's respectable, monument to plastic? If so, you're in luck, the E100 just reached "Season 2" which includes a re-run of all the same specs (up to 8GB storage, 2.4-inch display, audio/video playback) dipped in a few new color combinations. Better, yes, but it's still just the E100. We'll wait and see if they blow-out CES again like they did in January 2008 -- that's something worth caring about.[Via Akihabara News]

  • Reigncom reveals iriver NV mini: part PMP, part navigator, totally adorable

Look, we're pretty calloused when it comes to gadgets around here, but there's just no denying that Reigncom's (parent company to iriver) latest gizmo warmed our hearts at first sight. The freshly-revealed iriver NV mini is essentially a pared down version of the NV Life that hit in March and includes a 3.5-inch touchscreen (320 x 240 resolution), 4GB of internal capacity, a built-in battery good for 2.5-hours, Gini mapping software, a flash card slot for adding up to 8GB of storage and fairly robust multimedia player to boot. Expect it to bring smiles to many South Koreans very soon for ???188,000 ($133).[Via Hallyu Tech]

  • iriver's Spinn hits the FCC, means nothing

Sure, it doesn't look like much thanks to the FCC's staunch aversion to photo glam, but that's iriver's Spinn PMP, a product which had us at a full, rigid swoon back at CES. While this would generally be good news, the model approved features a DAB radio and DMB television tuner -- in other words, it's not intended for US consumption. The user manual also confirms a FM radio, Mini SD slot, Bluetooth, D-Click System interface, 27 hours of audio and 5 hours of video, and support for SWF (Flash), TXT, MP3, WMA, OGG, JPG, AVI, MWV file formats. With FCC approval out of the way, the rumored UK August release date is presumably in the bag.

  • Iriver acquires ex-Rio startup, Siren Audio

Iriver Japan just announced the acquisition of Japan's Siren Corporation. As such, Siren -- the number 4 DAP maker in Japan -- looks to become the low-to-mid tier device maker in iriver's lustalicious DAP/PMP portfolio while introducing iriver to the digital photo frame business. Interestingly enough, Siren was started by two former bleeding edge Rio Audio employees, one of which was a former Creative employee. Now, they find themselves working for iriver, a division of S.Korea's ReignCom, a company started by a bunch of Samsung executives. Welcome to the incestuous family we call consumer electronics. • iriver T60 MP3 player hits Korea

iriver parent company ReignCom was showing off its T60 MP3 player all the way back at CES, but it looks like it's just now gotten around to actually releasing it, with the player first rolling out in the company's home country. While the pictures may suggest something on the order of a clock radio, it looks to actually be a good deal smaller, boasting a barely-useful 1.01-inch LCD display and an equally diminutive jog dial to handle all your control needs. Also on the small side is the amount of storage space, with 1GB and 2GB variations your only options. You will get your choice of white, black, or blue, however, with prices running between 99,000 and 129,000 won (or roughly $106 to $138).

  • iriver set to launch W10, Clix2 and B20 at CES

The mythical, morphing iRiver W10 looks to be due for release next week at CES. But that's just the start, as they'll also be launching the Clix2 media player, B20 DMB TV, and possibly a few more devices resulting in a 12-strong product show for Reigncom's iriver. The W10 pictured above, looks a whole helluvalot like the "V10" PMP prototype we checked at CeBIT and nothing like the WiBro UMPC we heard about from iriver themselves. Still, appearances aside, it looks like this W10 is some sort of media player with built-in Navteq maps for the US. However, instead of GPS or even Bluetooth listed in the specs, it features WiFi, VoIP and an MP3 player. The Clix2 is a bit more straight shootin'. It shares the beveled edges of the "W10" but, as the name applies, is a followup to the much loved Clix. Not much is known other than it sports an AMOLED display and up to 6GB of memory. Also scheduled for release is the B20 followup to the tiny B10 DMB player which bumps the screen size a tad to 2.4-inches and adds an SD slot for photo viewing and apparently some PVR action. To be honest, we're not sure what to expect after this, but knowing iriver, it's going to be interesting. Besides, CES kicks off this weekend, what's a few more days of waiting after all these months? See a picture of the Clix2 after the break.[Via AVING]

  • iriver rolling out iriver plus3 online music store in Korea

Iriver seems pretty tight with MTV's URGE music store here in the States, but that isn't stopping parent company Reigncom from hooking up with a company called Juke On to launch an online music store of its own for the Korean market. Telecoms Korea is a little light on details like pricing, as well as whether or not the new "iriver plus3 online music store" uses PlaysForSure for its DRM or if subscriptions will be offered.

  • iRiver Japan announces 2GB T10

iRiver Japan is Reigncom's only region we've seen make the announcement today, but they've got a 2GB version of their lime green T10 due out there for ¥19,980 (about $170 US). Doesn't look too different than the MP3, WMA, OGG, ASF playing, FM tuning, voice recording device we're well used to otherwise, and it's still got that same damned single-cell AAA battery, making it one of the more capacious players to take said cells. Expect these to go on sale the 26th of this month over yonder in the land of the rising sun -- who knows (if and) when, elsewhere.
